BAF 2025: Dreadbox Artemis Polysynth

"at BAF 2025, we spoke with Orfeas from Dreadbox about *Artemis*, their forthcoming six-voice analogue synthesizer. The synth features dual VCOs per voice with full MPE compatibility, demonstrated alongside a ROLI Seabird for enhanced expression. Dreadbox introduced a through-zero FM capability, a first for the brand, allowing for more dynamic bass tones and FM-style sounds. The onboard modulation matrix lets you assign parameters to CCs, aftertouch, and polyaftertouch.

The synth comes with a classic Dreadbox filter, switchable between two and four poles, reminiscent of the Erebus series. Stereo voice panning is enabled through a voice spread function similar to the Murmux.

Effects from Sinevibes offer enhanced modulation, delays, and reverb options within four effect slots, providing greater creative control. Connectivity includes stereo outputs, USB for MIDI, and classic MIDI in/out. Expected availability is end of February to mid-March."

JAMUARY 2024: Syntakt + Roli Lightpad Block

"Combining unusual suspects today, the #syntakt and the #lightpadblock loaded with the lovely #pentagome script. With the help of a little midi app called #polythemus running on a nearby iPad, i‘m distributing all incoming notes from the lightpadblock over the first 8 channels of the Syntakt in a round robin fashion. Also added an additional #mozaicscript for all passing notes adding random velocity and mapped a few parameters on the Syntakt to be velocity dependent."

"I've seen a lot of demos of the ROLI Seaboard Rise 2 but most are using it with its own software (which is excellent btw I demo it in here). I've been keen to get one to play with, particularly as I've got a fair few synths that are MPE compatible, and haven't spent enough time exploring this side of them.

In this I take a look at using it with the Synclavier Regen, Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave and the Sequential OB6.

It's super easy to set up and adds sooooo much more potential for expression. I now understand why people want MPE keyboards on everything!... get one of these and you have :)"
