Chris Meyer’s Alias Zone: Nightfall, Kyiv (Official Live Bootleg)

video upload by Chris Meyer's Alias Zone

"Audio recorded by Lewis Richards at 17th Street Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, California
Video by Jose Corona @THE_CORONA_CHRONICLES #THE_CORONA_CHRONICLES

The idea for this piece came when Make Histibe of Mask Movement (https://maskmovement.com/) in Kyiv, Ukraine contacted me. As part of the invasion of Ukraine, their power grid is often knocked offline, and he was looking to raise money for solar panels and batteries to keep his studio operating. To do this, he created a series of field recordings of the war and life during wartime in Ukraine, and crafted them into a virtual instrument called Swords to Ploughshares (https://maskmovement.store/product/sw....

I gladly purchased it, and used it as the basis for this song, which flows from the realities of life during wartime to attempting to lead a normal, happy life…only for the war to intrude, and drag people back in. This piece was premiered at Steve Roach’s Ambient Lounge in Tucson. Arizona on April 4 2023; this 17th Street version performed on April 12, 2023 (the eve of the annual NAMM music convention) was the third time I had played it live. It contains some of my explanation beforehand the audience reaction afterwards. A version of this song will appear on my upcoming album Eastern Front."

"Luftrum 24 is a soundbank for TAL J-8 covering a wide range of genres from synthwave to 90s French house to ambient, electro funk and synthpop. All presets you hear in the demo vid above, is straight out of the box with no external processing of any kind.

The presets range from soaring mono leads to dreamy pads over funky dark basses and delicate synth keys and are inspired by a broad range of synth-driven artists and duos such as Daft Punk, John Carpenter, Vangelis, Perturbator, Steve Roach and The Midnight.

The set also features 40 presets designed by Code Elektro, a critically acclaimed synthwave sci-fi artist from Denmark, whose music best can be described as a hard mix between Carpenter Brut, SURVIVE and Tangerine Dream.

Luftrum 23 - Soundbank for Pigments 2

Published on Mar 1, 2020 Luftrum1

"Luftrum 23 for Pigments 2 is an ambient cinematic soundbank for the film scoring space traveller and the electronic producer, containing 100 presets plus 22 FX presets, for the reverb and delay effects.

The set is created by Luftrum and taking the sounds back-to-basics in the vein of early Luftrum releases with rich pads, silky Vangelis-like keys, bitcrushed yet mellow synth leads, underscoring textures and conceptual granular work with sonics originating from space itself - like the dusty, mesmerizing granular pad Stillness of Stars sculpted out of a short snippet of otherworldly frequencies from Voyager 2 as it passed through the outer magnetosphere in 1979 and the pulsing drone based on the cryptic FRB signals from deep space billions of light-years away, which are intercepted, noise reduced and timestretched 350 times.

The soundbank is designed to evoke emotions and raise questions about the depths of space and time, journeys to the unknown, life and existence and the symbiosis between the tiny pale blue dot we call Earth and the vast eternal universe, with inspirations drawn from artists like Biosphere, Jonn Serrie, Vangelis, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Stellardrone, Ascendant and Steve Roach.

All presets got a few dB headroom, have modwheel assigned and aftertouch where it gave meaning. The soundbank is NKS ready, contains NKS presets and audio previews for users of Native Instruments hardware. There’s a PDF guide included, describing how to install the set.

Some of the audio contained are from the NASA archives and used in compliance with their Media Usage Guidelines. NASA is not affiliated with Luftrum and does not endorse the use of the audio. The FRB signal is from the Harvard Dataverse. The sonification itself is the public domain, according to the terms.

Lexicon PCM 80 effects demo, by Pulse Emitter. With Novation Bass Station II.

Published on Aug 15, 2016 Pulse Emitter

"All custom edited patches. I played one single patch on a Novation Bass Station II synthesizer live through the Lexicon PCM 80 and recorded the output. The Pitch FX card is installed and in use. Quite a few of these sounds use the Resonant Chord algorithms which let you tune 6 different high frequency delays, creating wonderful ambient effects. This effects processor is very powerful with extraordinarily deep programming capabilities. Truth be told I bought it because I read in a Steve Roach interview that he has a few of them and they are key to his sound, and I've always loved his sound... Anyway, I've used this on a number of my albums. Love the pitch shifted delays, chorus, and reverb, although the unit is a bit noisy.

Skeleton Keys by Steve Roach - Synthesizers.com Album

"There’s a worldwide analog modular synthesizer resurgence in full swing. Pioneering electronic musician Steve Roach taps into the zeitgeist on Skeleton Keys, a 74-minute album recorded using the Synthesizers.com large format analog modular synthesizer/sequencer-based system. These are eight emotional and mind-expanding spiraling mandalas-of-sound made from interwoven tapestries of melody, rhythm, tone and musical space.

'Skeleton Keys connects directly to my first love in electronic music,' Steve Roach explains. 'This form of music creates a living portal to a unique place in consciousness, emotion, body awareness and expansion of perception. It’s a place that can only be reached by way of this genre and these instruments, in particular the sequencer: a tool common within electronic music since early in its inception. I have been obsessed with the sound this instrument facilitates since my arrival as a composer in the late 70′s.'

With the availability of a new era of hardware instrument builders to draw from, in early 2014 Steve set out to create his ideal large format modular synthesizer/sequencer-based system.

'My intention was single-minded,' Steve says, 'to make these ‘Keys’ in particular. The instant this system was in place, the compulsion to create was unleashed. Each piece on this release is an aural skeleton key providing entry through these arcane doors to what awaits inside. In addition, the momentum of my life’s experience was vital in helping turn the skeleton key to open these doors at this precise moment.'

Steve’s artistic path is filled with new discoveries, both nuanced and dramatic. He brings to the table years of dedication and experience exploring sound via hands-on synthesis.

With the sense of an artist working in three dimensional space, Steve’s skill set creates an album that breathes power, passion and vital life energy. On Skeleton Keys Steve connects to the European EM masters at the roots of his electronic heritage while simultaneously mapping the soundworld of today’s contemporary technology-based music. The result is warm and engaging retro-futurism, a continuing evolution upon the musical structures Steve has unlocked in the restless pursuit of his soundquest."

Cwejman RES-4 demo

Cwejman RES-4 demo from hpsounds on Vimeo.

"Here is a short demo of the Cwejman RES-4 Quad VC Resonators module.

This patch involve 3 intermodulating oscillators (Wiard Oscillator in LFO mode, Wiard Anti-Oscillator as a modulator, Tiptop Audio Z3000 as a modulator), which are filtered by a Wiard Boogie filter, itself modulated by the Wiard Oscilator.

12 dB/oct output of the Boogie filter is connected to the Cwejman RES-4. The tip was to modulate two bands of the RES-4 by an envelope (Wiard Envelator), which is trigged by a pulse rhythm created with the Intellijel uStep (clock signal is provided by the End output of a Bananalogue Serge VCS).

EFX processing through a nice Eventide Eclipse patch ;-) which give a Steve ROACH's like sound IMO."
