SUPERBOOTH24 Set for May 16 - 18, 2024

Press Release follows:

Berlin, the 28th of August 2023

The SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is happy to announce the date for the next edition of Superbooth: SUPERBOOTH24 will be happening from the 16th to the 18th of May 2024 at FEZ-Berlin.

Pre-sale tickets for SB24 will be available from the first of November 2023. Brands and manufacturers that are interested in exhibiting at SB24 can already contact us. More information regarding SB24 will follow in the fall.

For the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN, even during the beginning of this year being able to securely plan for 2024 was not a given. Like many large-scale events and festivals, the Superbooth had faced substantial financial difficulties due to pandemic-related cancellations and restrictions. This year’s SB23 was the first Superbooth that could happen without restrictions since 2019, and its success was crucial in deciding the future of the event.

As such, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is belated to announce that SUPERBOOTH23 was a resounding success that was able to secure the continuation of the event. As the biggest and most successful Superbooth to date, SB23 trumped even the previous record year 2019 with over 250 exhibitors from all the world and over 9000 visitors and participants.

Even on social media, SUPERBOOTH23 was more present than ever, perhaps because of the event’s continued, but amplified focus on inclusivity and diversity in the electronic music technology industry, a direction that was welcomed enthusiastically by most of the Superbooth’s visitors and participants. With initiatives such as the “Minibooth” for children and adolescents, workshops for women and nonbinary people and a women’s quota in the performance booking, the SUPERBOOTH23 attempted to showcase a way towards a more open and inclusive future of electronic music-making.

The various musical performance stages gave the SB23 the character of a music festival, with a musical focus on special live performances that fall outside the reach of typical large-scale festival bookings. The new session stage brought new genres such as dub, reggae, and different forms of bass music to the event. In the evening hours, the ever-popular Strandbühne (beach stage) with its relaxed vibe and various catering offerings conjured an atmosphere that lived up to the energy of a proper music festival.

During SB23, attendees often remarked that there was a noticeable relaxed, perhaps even euphoric atmosphere that could be felt all across the event. The Superbooth’s unique concept of a “trade fair with the spirit of a festival” has once again proven itself as something unique within the world of electronic music.

For 2024, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN will further build on the success of 2023 but of course also attempt to make the event even better, so that it can continue to live up to its status as the world’s biggest trade fair for electronic musical instruments. As such, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is open and thankful for feedback of any kind (e-mail: info@superbooth.com).

And the recap press release from SUPERBOOTH:

"SUPERBOOTH SUMMER SUN & SYNTHESIZER

SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail welcomed around 6000 trade visitors, day guests and over 170 international exhibitors at FEZ-Berlin. In the year of the 20th anniversary of the Superbooth, for the first time innovative guitar builders were represented in larger num- bers and with their own exhibition space under the name SOOPERgrail.

The expanded concept of the largest trade event for electronic musical instruments in Europe has proven successful, and Superbooth Berlin GmbH has overcome the worst obstacles resulting from the Corona crisis. This clears the way for next year‘s planning - the date is set:
SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPERgrail #2 at FEZ-Berlin: May 11-13, 2023. with even more innovative instruments and music, concerts, workshops, presentations, indoors and outdoors

Andreas Schneider: "For the anniversary version of Superbooth, as it turned out after all obstacles and difficulties, we can really only be grateful to everyone and congratulate everyone who was able to be there. The delicate little flower called #SOOPERgrail also made a successful start and the international events - above all the presentation with Hainbach for the Goethe Institute Tokyo and the partici- pation of Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith with their new instrument - were im- portant factors of culture and economy alike. We are already excited to see what will develop from this next year!"

The various areas of the anniversary edition each convinced with their very own at- mosphere, which always meandered between music festival, nerd get-together and a group trip with friends. The basis for relaxed encounters, lively exchange and a good mood was provided by the extended event area in the park, the large number of exhibi- tors and the summery weather.

Live:
The stage program represents an enormous variety of musical variation. Early electronic instruments such as the Trautonium were on display. Hainbach presented how electro- nic music was made by artists like Stockhausen in the 1960s, and many concerts fea- tured modular synthesizers, which can be seen as modern successors to the featured instruments. From the stages you could hear great live electronic music from ambient to techno, a lot of experimental and innovative works. Surprisingly for many guests, there was a performance by Richie Hawtin on the last day of the event.

The Modular Synthesizer Ensemble gave the mostly young participants their first stage experience with a composition they had previously developed together in a work- shop lasting several hours.
Within the framework of SOOPERgrail, there were many outstanding concerts and workshops, with individual instruments presented. In addition to traditional crafts, the artists and exhibitors also showed possibilities that enable expanded artistic expression. With the presented technologies, external devices can be controlled and microtonal music can be played.

The main stage for diverse guitar music was located in the circus tent. There was, among others, a blues concert by DobBroMan with spontaneous support from Thorsten Quaeschning of Tangerine Dream, the performance of Nagen & Kotzmann, who blurred the line between drone, ambient and free jazz, and Linalab, who brought along a drummer for her electronic post-rock, processed the sound of her electric guitar with a synthesizer, thereby ideally united the concepts of SOOPERgrail and SUPERBOOTH22.

Dokumentation:
The lecture-concerts (Gesprächskonzerte) recorded during the event are now available on Superbooth Berlin‘s YouTube and Vimeo channels, and the recordings of the other concerts will be released in the coming weeks.

Lecture-concerts are a combination of concert and presentation, where new inst- ruments are introduced in a concrete musical context. This year, legendary synthesizer manufacturer Oberheim made a comeback and presented a new instrument in this for- mat that, like its predecessors, seems to have the potential to become a classic.

We would like to expressly thank all exhibitors, artists, media representatives, trade vi- sitors and last but not least the numerous private visitors for their great support and the wonderful three days and are already looking forward to SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPER- grail next year.

Save the date now: SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPERgrail from May 11 to 13, 2023 at FEZ-Berlin!"

SUPERBOOTH22 & SOOPERgrail22 Set for May 2022

Press release follows:

Berlin, November 2021

20 YEARS OF SUPERBOOTH - TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW !

The successful SUPERBOOTH21 has shown how musical instrument trade fairs can work even during a pandemic. Due to the circumstances, the plan to esta- blish a new guitar fair has been put on hold so far. This September, a handful of guitar makers have already presented themselves at SUPERBOOTH21. Next year, the time has finally come and SOOPERgrail22 will be organized as its own event, with separate access and also at the FEZ-Berlin.

The idea of „Superbooth“ was already born 20 years ago and was cultivated in the first years in Frankfurt, with always new ideas, to an extraordinary, unusual trade fair concept. Six years have passed since the realization of an independent event in Berlin. During this time, a very personal and individual fair format has been established in the FEZ-Berlin. This development and the 20th anniversary will be celebrated on the eve of SUPERBOOTH22 with an exclusive evening event for our companions of the last 20 years.

As a special welcome for the new exhibitors from the guitar sector, a collective get-together for exhibitors and invited guests will be offered on the evening of 12. May - an opportunity to get to know each other, exchange ideas and meet again.

2G instead of 3G*

The planning of SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 is based on the current

status of the official Covid regulations. For this reason, the organizers already point out that access to SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 will most likely be bound to the 2G regulations.
This will allow for more indoor guests, the removal of time restrictions on indoor areas, and the prospect of possible reductions in mask requirements and minimum distances. A large number of exhibitors and visitors were already vac- cinated or recovered this year (2G). In order not to exclude anyone completely, it is expected that non-2G compatible visitors will still be allowed to attend with a daily PCR test.

*The so-called 3G rule (public spaces are only open to those that are vaccinated, recovered, or tested – in german: geimpft, genesen, getestet)

Here are the dates for SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22: SUPERBOOTH22: 12. - 14. May 2022

SOOPERgrail22: 13. - 14. May 2022

That is the short view into the future. But after 20 years of „Superbooth“, it‘s also worth taking a look back.

LOOKING BACK
In 2002, during the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, a „Superbooth“ took place for the first time as an ambitious group exhibition and with its own concert event. This was the starting point for everything that followed. Again and again we hear how people involved at that time become enthusiastic when they think back to the first Superbooth stands. The Superbooth concept stood out from the normal tra- de fair routine even back then, just like the Superbooth events today in Berlin.
HerrSchneider: „Many of the current participants such as Doepfer, (Bob) Moog, Elektron, Vermona, as well as currently involved artists like Mono- lake, Toktok and others are still connected to our events and activities and certainly like to celebrate with us. We are looking forward to the op- portunity to celebrate such a long-lasting development with each other once again!“

To take HerrSchneider at his word, the Superbooth Berlin GmbH celebrates the round anniversary with a special event in the context of SUPERBOOTH22. On the eve of SUPERBOOTH22 - on 11.5.2022 from 7 pm - the organizers will hold an ex- clusive anniversary celebration with exhibitors and invited guests. All this will of course take place at FEZ-Berlin.

PREVIEW

SOOPERgrail22
For the first time, SOOPERgrail22 will take place as a separately bookable, ca-
sual event for electric guitar manufacturers at FEZ-Berlin. The new event will be presented by Superbooth Berlin GmbH on two days, 13.-14. May 2022, as part of SUPERBOOTH22.
Exhibitors will showcase a selection of custom-made European electric and bass guitars in a separate area of the building around the K1 concert hall, in nearby rooms, on the Cinema presentation stage and in the open meeting areas.
A variety of presentations and concerts await guests at SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 on several stages, as well as a large, shared outdoor area for both events with the popular catering options.

SUPERBOOTH22
SUPERBOOTH22 will again be an open and broad experience at FEZ-Berlin.
There will be up to 200 exhibitors and plenty of space and fresh air around the Seaside Stage (Seebühne) and in the park. The Hüttendorf and the Fuchsbau will also be integrated into the program again. Both are in close distance and offer
a very unique atmosphere due to their location, which complement the event perfectly.
Concerts and performances will take place on a total of four stages indoors and outdoors. Those who want to do more than just look and try things out can create something of their own in different DIY-workshops and take it home with them. School classes and other children can try out the numerous, age-appro- priate workshops and approach the topics of music creation and sound explora- tion with some guidance.

The exhibition can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the stage pro- gram continues into the evening. All those at home can keep their eyes and ears glued to the livestream and the trade fair radio.

SUPERBOOTH Update

A quick update from the SUPERBOOTH team. Press release follows:

Berlin, the 9th of May 2023

SUPERBOOTH BERLIN 2023 is happening this week, from the 11th to the 13th of May, at FEZ- Berlin. As the most important trade fair for electronic musical instruments worldwide, SUPERBOOTH is a central event in the global electronic music scene. Over 250 exhibitors from over 35 countries will be presenting the products and technologies that will influence the music of tomorrow.

However, SUPERBOOTH is not just a specialist trade fair, but also a cultural event with the spirit of a festival, inviting everyone interested in electronic music to spend three days diving deep into the world of synthesizers and studios. With a diverse event program consisting of countless workshops, concerts and lectures, SUPERBOOTH23 will be offering something for everyone.

SUPERBOOTH23 is positioning itself as a unique trade fair that is centering human beings instead of products. It aims to facilitate dialogues between the makers and users of electronic musical instruments. Since the vast majority of SUPERBOOTH exhibitors are small artisanal businesses, the personal contact and conversations at the event will be key.

SUPERBOOTH23 is expressively inviting not just those already in the know, but simply everyone interested in learning more about electronic music-making. Accordingly, the SUPERBOOTH BERLIN is also actively working on increasing the inclusivity and diversity in the industry, with projects such as workshops for women and nonbinary people and (in cooperation with the FEZ-Berlin) a “Minibooth” for children and adolescents that happened last weekend (6th to 7th of May), and was already a resounding, sold-out success.

Digital pre-sale tickets for the SUPERBOOTH23 are still available at Superbooth.com, however there will also be a ticket box office at the event. A one-day ticket is 39€ (reduced* price: 29€), a three-day ticket is 98€ (reduced* price: 79€). *The reduced price includes groups such as students, people with disabilities, retirees, and people on unemployment benefits.

First Press Release for SUPERBOOTH17 at FEZ-Berlin

"Berlin, November 2016: SUPERBOOTH17 at FEZ-Berlin

SUPERBOOTH is the first European trade fair for electronic musical instruments. The second annual edition will be held from April 20th-22nd, 2017 at a new location, FEZ-Berlin.

At its basis, SUPERBOOTH17 remains what made the last event so special in 2016: a colourful, lively, passionate organized trade fair, with workshops for beginners and advanced users, round tables and product presentations. In addition to the exhibition stands, there will once again be around 30 daily concerts and live performances with artistic representatives of all musical genres.

In the coming year, the focus will be on the encouragement of the competence and capabilities for the next generations. The FEZ-Berlin was built as the "Pionierpalast" during the GDR time and contains various specialized designed rooms, studios, lecture and concert halls which make the FEZ an ideal venue for this purpose. In addition to a flexible event space, there is an integrated modern technical equipment, allowing ease for planning.

As opposed to last years venue, with the well-organized design of the FEZ-building and land, the paths for visitors and exhibitors are shortened, as the exhibitor areas, studios, workshop rooms and food performance court are closer together and spread barrier-free over three floors. With the rooftop restaurant, several bars and larger outdoor area, there are endless opportunities for a communicative gathering. Of course, again we will provide our culinary mile, where you can enjoy a wide range of food and drinks while listening to experimental sounds from the Sea Side Stage.

Through workshops, lectures, performances and the fair, SUPERBOOTH17 has set out the goal of providing young people and inexperienced users with specialized expertise. For this purpose, the entire lower foyer and outdoor areas will be freely accessible and offer individual workrooms, educational stands and outside facilities for meeting, eating and experiencing a high level of live performances.

Further details on the three-day program can be seen on our website and will be regularly updated until the beginning of the fair. You can also keep up to date by subscribing to our newsletter at www.superbooth.com

SUPERBOOTH17 Update

An update on SUPERBOOTH17 set for April 20 - 22 in Berlin:

"Berlin, March 2017: SUPERBOOTH17 at FEZ-Berlin

SUPERBOOTH is the first European trade fair for electronical music instruments. The second annual edition will be held from April 20th to April 22nd 2017, at a new location, FEZ-Berlin.

The timetable for SUPERBOOTH17 is getting tight! And with now more than 160 exhibitors from 22 countries there will be even more to discover at this year’s edition. You can already start to plan your trip through FEZ Berlin on our online floor plan and find your favorite exhibitors. Next to the long- known companies like Yamaha, Korg and Roland we set the focus on small and ambitious companies like Mutable Instruments and Oscillosaurus, who will join Superbooth for the first time.

Next to a whole lot of presentations, performances and concerts we were able to get Gudrun Gut to play some live shows with her project Monika Werkstatt. Within this series there will be daily improvised concerts during the evenings, played on lent instruments from our exhibitors. In general, the program will be more diverse at SUPERBOOTH17 with us trying to contribute to the idea of getting more women into the genre of electronic music and the development of electronic instruments. Therefore we are preparing daily workshops held by women for women.
We will have additional workshops in Konzertsaal 2, which are open to everyone and give you the opportunity to build your own synthesizer module or even whole musical instruments. These workshops will be professionally hosted from 11 a.m. and will be held by exhibiting companies like Moog, 4MS and Leaf Audio. You can buy tickets for the workshops on superbooth.com and you don’t need an additional Trade Fair ticket. Although we absolutely recommend attending at another day to enjoy everything else SUPERBOOTH17 has to offer and we also recommend staying for the evening program and enjoy the special concerts and talks we are planning.

To make sure that there will still be people around in twenty or fifty years from now, knowing what analog electrical musical instruments are and how they are engineered, we set up workshops for school classes to learn something about electronics and how to use synthesizers. The results of these workshops will be presented by the children on one of our stages at 12.20 p.m. every day.

As you can see, there will be a lot to learn and discover next to all the new and exciting instruments and electronics that our exhibitors are presenting. For further details and updates about the program or to buy tickets please visit our website: superbooth.com

Due to the dimensions of the building and safety reasons there is only a limited quantity of 1-Day- Tickets. We recommend ordering these tickets as soon as possible.

SUPERBOOTH17 – Close to 5000 visitors at FEZ Berlin

The following is the final press release on this year's SUPERBOOTH. For some perspective, we had 227 Superbooth17 posts here on MATRIXSYNTH so far, more are sure to trickle in. NAMM2017 came in at 209 posts, and Musikmesse2017 had only 19 posts. Note the number of posts that come in are just a reflection of what attendees capture at each event.

"Berlin, April 29th 2017

The 2nd edition of SUPERBOOTH left the organizers jaded but fulfilled. Summing up, SUPERBOOTH17 beats last year's edition by far with 70 new exhibitors, more concerts and more visitors to the FEZ Berlin. The new venue, though not built for this purpose, shows how well a fair for electronic musical instruments fits into the ex - GDR "Pionier-Palast". The stage, the foyer and the outdoor area with the Seaside-Stage offered a framework that was very well received by exhibitors and visitors alike.

Many exhibitors took new product developments unseen by the public eye to SUPERBOOTH. This is something which can be perceived as acknowledgement of the fair's meaning. The manufacturer's trust in the work of Andreas Schneider and his team paid off well. Visitor numbers have considerably increased also as a consequence of the cultural events and again offering top notch, iconic and unusual content from all stems of electronic music.

A new feature this year was the screening of the cinema films, i.e. fans and other interested visitors were given the chance to view the Berlinale film "Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht" before official theatre release. Another new element that entered the mix were workshops for school children (ages 7-15) in which a performance was developed and put onstage in conjunction with (among others) the Teichmann Bros from Regensburg and Berlin. From this type of workshop, a new way of teaching shall guide a new generation into music making, far away from old methods like learning to play recorder or triangles.

The SUPERBOOTH concept bears fruit - In front of the four main stages and through the hallways, one could hear voices saying: "next year we'll be back”. Interest in SUPERBOOTH is as big because it is like a fresh breeze for conventional trade fair patterns or platforms. The fair is closer to what electronic musical instruments should be about - the music - and not profit margins and sales figures. The most frequently posed question arising over the weekend was about the prospect for the next coming SUPERBOOTH. Which direction is it headed?

Andreas Schneider and his team would like to express their explicit thanks to all exhibitors, artists, media representatives, trade visitors and last but not least the numerous public visitors for their continued and new support over three marvelous days!

Please find more information and impressions of the fair on the SUPERBOOTH website:

As a “trade fair with the spirit of a festival”, the Superbooth presents the latest products and technical developments in the realm of synthesizers and studio technology with over 250 exhibitors from all over the world, while also offering a comprehensive cultural program that celebrates the culture and joy of electronic music-making.

Over 30 international artists will be performing on three outdoor stages (including the new “Strandbar” stage) as well as two indoor stages for presen- tations and lectures. On the lineup for SUPERBOOTH24 are artists as varied as the Oscar award winning Hildur Guðnadóttir, the popular club performer Stimming, the Live-Techno artist and Lady Gaga collaborator Lady Starlight and the modular expert TamiX hailing from China.

The full performance program can be found over at www.superbooth.com under the rider “Events”.

Aside from these musical performances, there will also be workshops offe- ring an introduction to the world of modular synthesizers (including one specifically for women and nonbinary people), DIY Workshops, and numerous lecture concerts in which popular brands like Bitwig, UDO Audio und Korg Berlin will be personally demonstrating their latest products.

The SUPERBOOTH is always trying to create an open and welcoming space in which everyone that is interested can learn and experience. Part of that is the MINIBOOTH for children and teenagers, which offers adolescents a playful look into the world of electronic music-making and was already a fully sold-success last year. The MINIBOOTH will be happening as its own event on the weekend be- fore Superbooth, from the 9th to the 12th of May.

Those looking for a refreshment between this dense schedule will also be happy with the Superbooth’s comprehensive catering offering. New this year is a rooftop area located on the top of the FEZ-building with a bar, allowing visitors to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere with a great view. And as always, there is also the idyllic „Bungalowdorf” located in the forest surrounding the FEZ.

As a mix between a trade fair, international scene meeting, conference and festival, the Superbooth is a forward-looking event that combines different aspects to create a unique space for musical encounters and experiences.

Pre-sale tickets are available over at www.superbooth.com under the rider “Tickets”. A three-day ticket is 98 euros (reduced: 79 euros), a one-day ticket is

39 euros (reduced: 29 euros). As always, there will also be a ticket box office at the event. We recommend arriving by public transport (S-Bahn station Wuhlheide), as parking opportunities near the event location are limited.

Instruō Superbooth23: THE MOVIE

video upload by Instruō

WARNING: This video contains flashing lights which may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy (There's also a wee bit of swearing!)

This is a movie that follows the creative crew that is Instruō.
In 2023 the company travelled to Berlin to present at the Superbooth trade show/festival.
At the time of these captured events, the expanded team at Instruō numbers 20+ personnel.
Pretty much the entire crew goes to Berlin as we show off who we are and what we make.
This is a look behind the scenes of a Eurorack modular synthesiser manufacturer as they present at the world's best Synth-show!

Directed by Mathew Pieraccini
Edited by Jasōn H. J. Lim

"This 'documentary' is the beginning of a new form of content that I'm (Jasōn) working on in parallel to the endless stream of new instruments that we're developing.
It's a long time since it was just myself working solo back in the early days of Instruō
(~2016).
I now have the privilege of working with some of the most fun and creative people I've ever met.
We collaborate now as a creative coop. My hope is to showcase more who we are, what we're doing and how things work at the workshop here in Glasgow.
I've always been a fan of behind the scenes content so my plan is to open thing up a bit to showcase my collaborators and what they do inside and outside of roles at Instruō"

SUPERBOOTH18 Details & Schedule

"SUPERBOOTH18 at FEZ Berlin - 03-05 May 2018 - Trade Fair for Electronic Musical Instruments. The latest developments in (modular) synthesizers, keyboards, effects, studio equipment and software.

Almost 250 exhibitors from all over the world, 22 concerts and Gesprächskonzerte daily, panel discussion, workshops and much more.

It starts at 11:30 am with the spacious boat shuttle starting at Jannowitzbrücke and a trip through the eastern part of the German capital. Arrived at the FEZ Berlin the visitors can enjoy daily at 1 pm the first concert of the still young day program on the Seaside stage, or they can attend one of the beginner workshops on modular synthesizers, one exclusively for women and non -binary persons, and one open to everyone. Gammon, together with a school class, develops a performance for the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble, presented daily at 1:30 pm. Afterwards, at 2 pm, the promotional stage program begins with concerts by Caterina Barbieri on a modern Eurorack modular system and Leon Michener on a prepared grand piano. Altogether there are 11 concerts of this kind daily, on Friday for example with Bernd Kistenmacher on classical synthesizers, as well as Udo Hanten on a 5U modular system. On Saturday, among others, there will be the Gesprächskonzert of Nonlinear Labs with Stephan Schmitt and the C 15 keyboard. Parallel to this, DIY workshops, specialist workshops from the participating educational institutions and the entertainment program of the other exhibitors will take place throughout the day. So it makes sense to come to SUPERBOOTH18 for more than one day, to also watch the concert of Carolina Eyck on the Theremin or Tobi Neumann and Fadi with an ambient performance.

For people who like to sleep a little longer the boat shuttle is available at 2:30 pm or 5:30 pm. Thus one reaches the FEZ Berlin on time for the evening program and for spending some time on the exhibition before the evening program begins at 7 pm. Here #instantboner, T.Raumschmiere & FucketYbUcKetY, Ströme and Tikiman shake hands. With the low -priced ticket for the evening hours you can also see Boys Noiz with 2244, ATEQ, GusGus and many others. Max Loderbauer, who was on the SUPERBOOTH17 stage last year together with Ricardo Villalobos, will play together with Tobias Freund as NSI this year.

Those who like it a bit quieter will be pleased about the film screening of The Potential of Noise, a documentary about the legendary music producer and studio operator Conny Plank. The film is commented and explained by the initiator of the film, the son of the protagonist. On all three evenings there will also be discussions with guests such as Daniel Miller, Uwe Schmidt and Mark Ernestus. Some aspects of The Potential Of Noise will also be addressed here. During Thursday's SOOPERtalk Lady Starlight, Andrew Huang, Lady Blacktronika and Mylar Melodies will discuss the fascinating interaction between humans and machines in the creative context of music making.

The return trips of the boat shuttle at 8:30 pm and 12:00 am take the guests directly to the landing place at the Jannowitzbrücke in Berlin Mitte, from there it is not far to the official after-show location C-Base. The after-show program will be announced at short notice.

More details and additions to the three-day program can be found on the official website. You can also keep up to date by subscribing to the newsletter on superbooth.com.

SUPERBOOTH21 in 6 Weeks - Program and Special Event Tickets

SUPERBOOTH21 is coming this September 15 through 18. See https://www.superbooth.com/ for full details on the event.

Press release on the Program and Special Event Tickets follows:

Berlin, August 2021

SUPERBOOTH21 in 6 weeks - the program and the special event tickets

Many national and international exhibitors and their innovative synthesizers and effect devices attract thousands of music makers to FEZ-Berlin every year. Equally attractive are the numerous concerts and special events. These inclu- de many workshops that invite you to join in, the SchneidersLaden Tour and the comfortable arrival by boat shuttle from Berlin Mitte.

Stage program: This year, SUPERBOOTH21 will feature four stages. In addition to the auditorium and the seaside stage, two new venues will be added: the Finn- hütten and the Fuchsbau.

In the auditorium, there will be Gesprächskonzerte (lecture concerts) and talks - with Jean-Michel Jarre, Reinhold Heil, Atom TM and T.Raumschmiere among others. Early Wednesday evening, the Miller-Zillmer-Foundation will present it- self to invited guests in the auditorium, where it will celebrate its two-year an- niversary. This year the Miller-Zillmer-Foundation makes possible the workshop series with Gammon and his Modular Synthesizer Ensemble, as well as - in co- operation with Mute Artists Ltd. - the headlining concerts on the seaside stage every evening: Yann Tiersen, hackedepicciotto, JakoJako and Pole.

The past 18 months have left room for many artists to go into the studio and write new music. SUPERBOOTH21 is one of the first opportunities to bring the results of these processes on stage and so there are some premieres to see. Yann Tiersen (Mute, release date: August 27, 2021) presents his new album „Kerber“. Also from hackedepicciotto (Mute), st.raumen (release date:
30. August 2021) and Pole (Mute) there is something new to hear.

The seaside stage will also feature Maarten Vos, Bloody Mary, Carolina Eyck, Kitmun and Ain TheMachine X SBNH, among others. The stage at the Finnhütten will be hosted by the legendary Tresor. For the 30th anniversary of the Berlin club and label, there will be concerts every night at 8:30 p.m. by e.g. Z.I.P.P.O, Carlota and Artik.

The ever-popular Gesprächskonzerte will mainly take place at the Fuchsbau. On this new stage, SOMA Laboratory, Verbos Electronics, Haken Audio, Polyend, U-HE, Joranalogue and Bitwig, among others, will musically present their pro- ducts. In addition, you can also get involved yourself at the Fuchsbau and contri- bute to the musical background of the event at the Modular Carousel.
Workshops & DIY: The various DIY workshops will take place in the cozy ambien- ce of the DIY tent at the Fuchsbau. Workshops offered are from Befaco, Leaf Audio, Making Sound Machines, Touellskouarn and Shakmat Modular, among others. Due to the severe limitation of places, tickets for the DIY workshops should be booked early.

Other workshops include the Tapeloop Workshop on September 18 (for up to 5 participants), the Kreativ Klangsafari in cooperation with the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and of course Gammon‘s Modular Synthesizer Ensemble, who will once again be working on a daily performance with students and presenting it at 1:30pm.

Tickets for many workshops can already be booked online and can be found here.

Livestream & virtuelle Gesprächskonzerte (lecture concerts): Those who are unable to attend SUPERBOOTH21 in person can look forward to the daily lives- tream. Here, the highlights of the various stages will be shown in a three-hour program. This also includes the virtual Gesprächskonzerte, which offer exhibitors who cannot come to SUPERBOOTH21 the unique opportunity to present them- selves to the audience simultaneously online and on site - live on screen in the auditorium. Among other things, the Gesprächskonzerte by and with Noise Engi- neering and Animal Factory Amplification will be presented here.

Boat shuttle: The boat shuttle departs daily from the old historic harbor in Berlin Mitte in the direction of FEZ-Berlin. The landing stage can be found at Mellow- park. From here there are precise signs to find the right way to FEZ-Berlin.

Tickets for the boat shuttle are available now and are very limited. It is advisable to be quick! Here you can get the tickets.

SchneidersLaden Tour: The tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at Germa- ny‘s most important synthesizer store - SchneidersLaden. For this tour Andreas Schneider has asked one of his first employees to tell interested guests about the history of SchneidersLaden, SchneidersBuero and Superbooth – and to provide insights into the current showrooms and behind the scenes of SchneidersLaden in Berlin Kreuzberg.

What‘s left to say? Stay healthy everyone and get vaccinated so we can spend a wonderful SUPERBOOTH21 together in September!

And: Day tickets for SUPERBOOTH21 are currently still available for all time periods on superbooth.com and can be combined at will with the special event tickets for workshops, boat shuttle and the exclusive tour through Schneiders- Laden.
Tickets for DIY workshops are only valid in combination with any day ticket for SUPERBOOTH21. All special event tickets are strictly limited and can only be booked in advance of the event.
All tickets are available exclusively via pre-sale on superbooth.com - there will be no box office to ensure a contactless transaction.

Please note that access to the exhibition grounds will only be granted with a daily negative rapid test, complete approved vaccination or convalescent status.

SUPERBOOTH16 in Funkhaus Berlin
 Set for March 31 - April 2

Many of you will be familiar with previous Superbooths hosted at the Musikmesse. All of were the brainchild of Andreas Schneider of Schneiders Buero, Schneiders Laden, Stromkult, and Alex4. This year he is hosting the Superbooth at its own event and it looks like it will be massive. For a list of exhibitors see this page. The event runs March 31st – April 2nd
in Berlin. The following is the official press release:

"The first annual SUPERBOOTH16, music and culture fair will be taking place from March 31st - April 2nd in Berlin. What started as a small stand on the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, will now be presented in Berlin as a broadly programmed Culture festival organized by SchneidersBuero in Berlin. The exhibition will take place at the historic Funkhaus, which is a former German radio station that will provide an uncompromised acoustic and architectural setting.

Over the last 15 years, SchneidersLaden has grown to become a leader in the distribution and marketing of innovative musical and sound instruments in Berlin and throughout Europe. The founder and CEO, Andreas Schneider, can be attributed as one of the main worldwide drivers behind the present modular synthesizer HYPE. One might consider the worldwide distribution and purchase of electronic instruments is the basic reason for electronic music.

The present momentum is so strong, that even the larger well known manufacturers have invested in developing new concepts to compete with the small manufacturers.

SUPERBOOTH16: Idea and Beginnings

Although Berlin is one of the most modern electronic music centers on the globe, it has never had an adequate music fair to support the scene. With SUPERBOOTH16, this will change the landscape. SUPERBOOTH16 will be the large format presentation of the stand which has been seen at the Frankfurter Musikmesse over the last 15 years. The stand magnetized the visitors to see directly what one can do with these instruments. Many of which are hand made and only available in limited runs.

Over 100 exhibitors are registered for SUPERBOOTH16 with the larger synthesizer names like Yamaha and Roland, classic specialists like Dieter Doepfer (Original Kraftwerk Synthesizer maker) through many self-made and smaller exhibitors like Make Noise and others. Also, classic manufacturers of keyboard instruments like Dave Smith and leading software companies like Ableton or Native Instruments will also be present to show and demonstrate their latest developments.
SUPERBOOTH16: The Fair as Culture Festival.

To promote and support the living and evolving Berliner Music scene, SUPERBOOTH16 provides a base concept of an instrument fair and cultural program. It is a living come-together for manufacturers, dealers, musicians, tinkerers, new-comers and the scene.

Aside from the mixture of interesting instruments, over the course of three days, there will be daily presentations, demonstrations, discussions and DIY workshops. Each evening there will be a night program that will be presented with well-known artists involved.

On the weekend nights, April 1st and 2nd, SUPERBOOTH16 will hold a large concerts and party in the special Funkhaus Culture Hall where notable artists will be performing.

SUPERBOOTH16: The Berliner Funkhaus as Special Location

The selection of the Funkhaus as a fair location is an architectural and integration win. The design of the fair not only presents the incoming exhibitors a rare ambient, but integrates the presently running or in operation recording studios and function halls. This special integration will allow for a very high level of acoustics for the presentation of instruments, which is quite rare for a musical fair.

Schneider also has made travelling to and from the Funkhaus a special experience. A free boat shuttle is being provided from Mitte near the Jannowitzbrücke and Chinese Embassy which will take visitors and exhibitors through a small tour of the Berliner Spree and land directly at the Funkhaus.

Further information to the concept, the exhibitors and program can be found at www.superbooth.com.

SUPERBOOTH18 Tickets Now Available

New press release for SUPERBOOTH18:

"SUPERBOOTH18 continues to grow in 2018!

SUPERBOOTH18 is the first European trade fair for electronic musical instruments and will take place from 3 to 5 May 2018 at the FEZ Berlin.

Next year, the world's largest trade fair for electronic musical instruments and music production will be strengthened even more by a growing scene and new innovations. To accommodate all the creative minds drawn to the event, Superbooth 2018 has expanded the exhibition area and is expecting more than 5000 visitors in 2018. Ticket sale has already started on 1st November on superbooth.com.

More than 80% of this year’s exhibitors already confirmed their participation for 2018. In addition there will be many new manufacturers attending SUPERBOOTH for the first time next year. Due to limited space, not all interested exhibitors could be accommodated this year. That is why there will be new exhibition space in the Westflügel of the FEZ Berlin in 2018.

The fair is strongly focused on the modular synthesizer. A few years ago, only few people knew about this kind of instrument, although it has been shaping the music world since the 1960s. Today, the modular synthesizer conquers the internet, festivals and stages of the world. At SUPERBOOTH Berlin, visitors can gather their own experiences and exchange thoughts with the manufacturers and developers of these amazing devices.

SUPERBOOTH18 continues to work on making a new generation of musicians familiar with electronic musical instruments. Gammon already introduced young people to the modular synthesizer during this year's event. He is currently touring Europe with his series of workshops, where more and more traditional musicians are learning how to use this both traditional and ultra-modern instrument."

You can use the controls on the bottom left or upper right of the player to skip around.

Playlist:
1. Joranalogue - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
The Belgium Eurorack synth maker Joranalogue presented not one, but three new modules at SUPERBOOTH21: Orbit 3, Enhance 2 and Step 8.

During their Gesprächskonzert at Fuchsbau they not only talked about these new modules, but Alter Fritz also performed a live session with a Joranalogue based Eurorack system.

Driven by an unrelenting passion for analogue circuits, Joranalogue Audio Design offers an expanding series of high-quality Eurorack music synthesizer modules. They're continually introducing new approaches and techniques to the Eurorack platform, making waves in the waters of analogue synthesis. All products are designed and made in Belgium, guided by experiences in both modern hardware engineering and vintage synthesizer servicing.

This year, the Joranalogue crew finally returns to Berlin to present its latest developments. Join designer Joran van Gremberghe and artist Frits Jacobs (Alter Fritz) for a whirlwind ride through the exciting world of these black and silver modules!
2. u-he Wiretap - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert) @SUPERBOOTH21
For this Gesprächskonzert Urs Heckmann, founder of Berlin based company u-he, teamed up with Sebastian Hübert for their performance and presentation at Fuchsbau during SUPERBOOTH21. The former one-man show u-he is now a tightly knit team of employees, active associates and 3rd-party contractors – with ambitious plans.

Famous for very accurate and widely appreciated software synthesizers and effects, u-he showed their first eurorack module at a previous edition of Superbooth – the CVilisation. At SUPERBOOTH21 it was time for another announcement. They took the chance to present their latest development with a Gesprächskonzert, of which you can find the video documentation below.
The module is named Wiretap and it played a major role in creating rhythm during their performance.

Wiretap is a double gate extractor for v/oct signals. It will generate a gate when the voltage goes high, when it goes low, when it's steady, when it moves, when it's higher than the other one and when it's lower. And you can set the gate length and get additional envelope outputs.
3. Bitwig - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Berlin based DAW-makers Bitwig played a Gesprächskonzert on Thursday of SUPERBOOTH21. With the idea of - Less is More - Dave Linnebank showcased Bitwig and its possibilities, concentrating on simple ideas and how to creatively make them more complex. In other words: In this performance Dave starts with some short phrases, and then uses Bitwig Studio to extend them into musical passages. These will then become performance-ready clips by adding Bitwig's Operators for some fuzzy logic, getting the computer to make compositional choices while Dave is busy playing new lines on top.

Dave Linnenbank is a musician, technologist, and teacher. Over the past 20 years, he has crafted musical tools for pop and jazz artists, Broadway musicals, and desktop electronic musicians everywhere. Dave is part of Team Bitwig in Berlin, regularly making YouTube tutorials and more.
4. Verbos Electronics Complete Systems – SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
During his Gesprächskonzert at SUPERBOOTH21 Mark Verbos is introducing the audience to the newly designed Verbos Electronics System Configurations: Designer Configuration, Performer Configuration, Producer Configuration.

Mark Verbos explains the intended use of each configuration as well as the philosophy behind not only the module selection but also module arrangement. He also plays some examples with all three system to give a musical reference to the explanation of the ideas behind each system. This Gesprächskonzert is a great opportunity to watch and hear all three configurations right next to each other – where else would that be possible? Enjoy the video!
5. Modor DR-2 - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Modor introduced its powerful DR-2 drum machine at SUPERBOOTH21 with a short explanation by Marcel from Modor Music about its most deviant possibilities. This six-channel drum machine is completely digital – a discipline that Modor shines in. The DR- drum synthesizer features a sequencer with 128 steps and a very tidy user interface.

It positively surprised many people when it was introduced, because it is unusual and brings something new to the table. Luckily the DR-2 is not a copy of a classic, but uses modern digital synthesis to create drum sounds. A drum model can be assigned to each of the six channels. You can also assign the same model to several or all channels. The models include: Three bass drum models, three snare models, three cymbal models, claps, two tom models and miscellaneous, the latter divided into three subcategories: rimshot, rattle and cowbell.

This Gesprächskonzert was a very welcome opportunity to hear this rare drum machine in action. Enjoy the video!
6. Polyend Tracker - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Sobutane presents his upcoming album Future Cake using two Trackers and one Medusa durng this Gesprächskonzert at SUPERBOOTH21.

After working with the Yamaha RM1x sequencer for 13 years Sobutane discovered the Tracker by Polyend. Originally bought just for drum parts, it revealed itself to be a great live-oriented tool, making him compose music outside his trusty RM1x for the first time in his life. Although the idea of a tracker is not particularly new, the Tracker still feels fresh and inspirational to many musicians. The Tracker brought Sobutane ideas and a new approach to composing his music, so he bought a second one and a Medusa, also made by Polyend. That was the starting point for the creation of the music you hear in his Gesprächskonzert for Polyend. Enjoy!
7. Ploytec Boom Kick - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
This Gesprächskonzert was unusually opened with a steel-guitar performance by DobBroMan, showing the Ploytec Boom Kick (Guitar Pedal).

Ploytec always valued the opportunity of Gesprächskonzerte at Superbooth and so they took the chance to do another one in 2021 this time for a rather unusual product – a guitar pedal that generates a kick drum in sync with the tapped in tempo. Additionally it sends a MIDI clock to other gear. This is useful for simple backing of what the guitarist is playing. The addition of a bass drum completes the otherwise solo guitar and with the MIDI tempo output, other instruments can play in sync – whether these are additional drum machines or synthesizers or whatever.

And there is one special thing to note about the bass drum sound – there are no samples saved to this machine. The drum sound is generated through synthesis and it has a huge range of possible sounds, suitable for pretty much all music genres.

And if you haven’t heard the Superbooth blues yet, watch until the end!
8. LPZW & Tubbutec - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Kai and Tobi (aka LPZW & Tubbutec) probably could have sold every second SUPERBOOTH21 guest a 6mod6, that's how well their first joint product was received. At Fuchsbau the Berlin based manufacturers presented the result of their collaboration: a highly modified homage to the 606.

They were accompanied by an opening performance from Cem Oral a.k.a. Jammin’ Unit in which he used the new module intensively, giving a good idea about what the module sounds like in a musical context.

After the performance Kai and Tobi walked the audience through every sound engine of the module and showed their modifications of the original 606 circuits. Not only with the Gesprächskonzert, they convinced a lot of people that they created a great sounding and very versatile 606 inspired drum module.

Now the wait begins, the first batch of the 6mod6 still has to be built. Let's hope that the chip shortage does not delay the production too much.
9. Erica Synths PĒRKONS - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Erica Synths team of engineers and musicians have been working hard to bring surprise us all with a new instrument that no one expected and everyone wanted. Erica Synths had their booth completely dedicated to their latest product the PĒRKONS HD-01 drum machine.

PĒRKONS features four sonically versatile hybrid voices (digital sound engine + analogue multimode filter with overdrive) and a sequencer with simultaneous control over all four percussion tracks, an internal analogue BBD FX send, parameter automation and much more. This is a modern drum machine with a serious vintage look.

For their Gesprächskonzert they brought not one, but two of these machines and finally explained it and showed what it is capable of. For everyone’s surprise, the demo started with a drone set – yes, it can also do drones. And for the final concert part of this presentation, no other than Kodek entered the stage. Sounds fun? Enjoy the video!
10. Nonlinear Labs C15 – SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Stephan Schmitt, the founder of Nonlinear Labs, plays some improvisations on the C15 and shows the enormous tonal possibilities of this instrument and its ability to be played very expressively – with up to four expression pedals and the two large ribbon controllers. The C15 is a puristic and distinct digital synthesizer. Its sounds are generated by elementary algorithms and feedback structures. This opens up new fields for sound design and gives musicians an expressively playable and dynamical behavior, similar to acoustic instruments. The C15 is an instrument that has to be played by hand to unfold its full potential. After the performance Stephan explains what features are new and which special features of the C15 he used.

This isn’t the first Gesprächskonzert by Nonlinear Labs, so be sure to check out the previous editions for more information about this unique instrument.
11. Haken Audio & La Voix du Luthier – SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
Haken Audio and La Voix du Luthier have been presenting together at Superbooth for several years now, showing how well these two companies and their products fit together. This Gesprächskonzert features a Haken Continuum, the all-new Continuum Eurorack Module and the large Pyramid Resonator.
Watch Edmund Eagan passionately talk about his products and enjoy the demonstration and performance of the Continuum Fingerboard by Rob Schwimmer.

The almighty synthesis engine behind all these sounds is the Eagan Matrix, that now is also featured in the Eurorack module. This is a huge opportunity for sound designers and artists to expand their sound palette with very expressive and unique sounds.
12. UDO Audio Super 6 Desktop - SUPERBOOTH21 Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert)
UDO Audio brought the world one of the most interesting poly-synths of the recent years. Very rarely a company achieves such a success with their first ever product – but the Super 6 made it. Now UDO Audio showed the desktop version of this incredible synth. Great looks, ergonomics and the sound of the original Super 6 make this machine a very interesting option for many musicians and studios on the hunt for a capable poly-synth.

In this video George gives a little insight into the development of the company in general and his view on the past two years, since he presented the Super 6 to the world at SUPERBOOTH19.

Kabuki - live at SUPERBOOTH23

video upload by Superbooth Berlin

"Kabuki already played at the Superbooth in 2019. In 2023 he plays the beach stage on Saturday with an ambient set fitting for the first drink of the day. His album „No Maps for these Territories“ already gave a foretaste to the sound of his performance: somewhere between minimal music, jazz and electronica.

SUPERBOOTH21 Safety First Edition Moved to September 2021

via SUPERBOOTH

"New date for SUPERBOOTH21

The decision has been made. The new date for the Safety First Edition of SUPERBOOTH21 is set for this summer, from September 15 to 18, 2021.

HerrSchneider: 'Even the greatest optimists must slowly acknowledge that the world will not be ready for larger, international gatherings in nine weeks now. That's why we've decided to move SUPERBOOTH21 to September.'

But if in the summer, then with really much outside! The organizers of the trade fair do not want to miss out on the opportunities offered by moving the event to the warm season. Thus, additional places in the outdoor area of the FEZ Berlin were included in the planning of the event.

At the new locations, Fuchsbau, Hüttendorf and the small forest behind the seaside stage, there will be outdoor exhibitors for the first time. All stations are connected by short walks and each offer a varied program of concerts and presentations on smaller stages, so that you don't have to miss the usual SUPERBOOTH festival feeling.

The open-air concept is intended to harmonize the usual relaxed atmosphere with the necessary safety measures in terms of distance and fresh air. For this purpose, half of the event space will be relocated to the spacious outdoor area. The exhibition areas inside the building will be reduced and thinned out in order to maintain the spatial distance between the participants and to avoid clusters of guests. Like the exhibition space, the guests will also be divided: For four hours each, in two groups of 500 people. This results in a moderate flow of visitors, who can experience the usual diverse selection of exhibitors in the reduced indoor area and then spend the rest of the day in the outdoor area, alternating with the second group.

In total, there are already several dozen confirmations from exhibitors who want to make their way to Berlin in September. Due to expected travel restrictions and existing planning obstacles, larger manufacturing teams directly postponed their participation to 2022. Likewise, it will not be possible for many overseas exhibitors to come to Berlin as early as the end of the summer. These will be offered alternative options for digital participation in the "Safety First Edition".

Ticket pre-sales will not start before May, as the current development of the health situation will of course continue to be monitored. The actual realization of the event is directly linked to the start of ticket sales in order to avoid costly refund processes.

SOOPERgrail
The first edition of the new fair for the celebration of the art of guitar building will take place next year. Then numerous exhibitors will present instruments from the acoustic and electric range, for testing, experiencing and discussing.
The focus will be on the practical use of the presented instruments, the communicative get-together and the inspiring exchange between users and passionate manufacturers.
