Tetrapad: Chapter 3 - Keyboard Mode

Published on Nov 25, 2017 intellijel

"Chapter 3 introduces Tetrapad's Keyboard Mode. Here you can select from 12 scales, and play a chord with every note of the scale. You can also rotate the note assignments, invert chords, and use portamento!

Tetrapad is a versatile, multi-dimensional, touch-sensitive control surface for Eurorack. Each of its four pads use force sensing resistors to respond to both the vertical position of your finger and its pressure. Four push encoders and a shift function give you even more tactile control over your modular system.
Tetrapad operates in numerous modes — each of which configures the module to perform a specific control task. Through these modes, Tetrapad can emulate a bank of faders; a voltage storage device; a finger drumming surface; a chord generator; an 8-key keyboard; four independent LFOs; or an 8-switch panel. The chosen mode determines what type of signal (CV, note, trigger, gate, etc.) is sent from each of Tetrapad’s eight independent outputs, while its multitude of multi-colored LEDs keep you informed of exactly what’s happening within each mode.
Tetrapad automatically remembers how you’ve configured each of its modes, and retains these settings when powered off. By default, Tetrapad automatically saves these settings every minute, or whenever you change modes. This makes Tetrapad ideal for live performance, since you know it will always power up with your configurations intact."

Tetrapad: Chapter 2 - Voltages Mode

Published on Nov 25, 2017 intellijel

"In Chapter 2 we check out Tetrapad's Voltages Mode, which turns the four pads into a panel of eight buttons that can each send eight stored voltages. This puts 64 stored voltages at your fingertips which can create a sort of preset memory for your modular system! Voltages can be randomized, and they can also be slewed to make them slide from one set of values to another.

New intellijel Tete Expander for the Tetrapad

Published on Dec 11, 2019 Intellijel

"Tête is the long awaited and highly anticipated expander for the Tetrapad. Tête takes control of Tetrapad’s mode selection and operating functions, allowing Tetrapad to do what it does best — act as a control surface, which it does both for controlling external modules and for interfacing with the advanced processing power within Tête.

Tête + Tetrapad operates in one of three different modes—

Voltages
Up to 16 voltage storage locations (grid) with 8 voltages stored at each location. You have the choice to record and playback your recall of these locations in a looper style (just play freely and spend arbitrary amount of time at any location) or as a clocked sequence (SH-101 style). Additionally you can traverse the matrix using the X and Y CV inputs to get Cartesian style sequencing. There is also variable slew that allows you to morph/glide between the values.

Notes
You can create sequences or loops in chord, scales or keyboard mode. The isomorphic keyboard grid can be set to 4, 12, or 16 notes. There are real-time performance looping, transposition and inversion capabilities via the CV inputs and dedicated loop button. In sequencer mode each step can be a tie, rest, or gate with size 25/50/75%. Basically we have created a way to very quickly and intuitively make chord sequences that are very musical and easy to manipulate. It is difficult to summarize in words but we will be sure to create some videos to demonstrate how easy and fun this is to play with. It definitely represents something unique in the landscape of Eurorack sequencers.

Combo
In this mode you can loop record your performance on any combination of the following functions: fader, bipolar fader, crossfader, euclidean sequencer, toggle switches or LFO. Kind of like Elektron style parameter locking but all of the motions is recorded continuously instead of just in slices. Instantly turn a simple patch into a highly animated and complex beast. The chosen function determines the type of signal (CV, note, trigger, gate, etc.) sent from each of Tetrapad’s eight independent outputs, while its multitude of multi-colored LEDs keep you informed of exactly what’s happening within each mode."

Intellijel Tetrapad - modular jam session

Published on Apr 11, 2018 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

I received the Intellijel tetrapad today, this got me really excited as this takes my "control boat" to the level where i want to be.. e.g tactile surfaces to control voltages and what nots in my modular system. It helps with not having to dive in between cables, e.g just patch up the stuff i usually want to control, or some other weird stuff and go with the flow. :)

I took a track that i am currently working on, sort of finished up.. used that old patch to save some time, slowed down the bpm a bit and hooked up the tetrapad.

Tetrapad is in fader mode, with 1-.3 in latch, and 4 momentary. First one listed is fader, second is pressure.

Fader 1: Ripples filter cutoff and an envelope release/fall in maths used for the A-111-3 VCO bass line. VCA is uVCA, driven pretty hot.

Fader 2: Structure and Brightness to the Rings melody.

Fader 3: uVCF filter cutoff and timbre for the SYNC sound sequence on braids.

Fader 4: Pitch and decay for the BIA rhythm pattern.

All is sequenced by the winter modular eloquencer. There is also a fair bit of modulation going on from PAM and uO_C, especially for BIA to create some extra movement to the drum pattern.

FX for Rings and Braids is the strymon timeline, BIA and A-111-3 keeley caverns."

Modular LiveSET Vol.005 "Intellijel Scales Demo, no talking"

video by LogicNOT

"This is a little demo of how I like to use the Intellijel Scales. The first in a series of videos showcasing the combination of of 4 Intellijel modules (Scales, Tete, Tetrapad, Quadrax) and the Westlicht Performer.

The 'Scales' is an excellent quantizer with many advanced options. Entering very simple scales with only 2-5 entries result in interesting possibilities for scalar progressions by using the root-mode and of course by playing the module. As this is a demo there is extensive melody-madness involved. In a normal performance I would use it more sparingly.

- the Tete/Tetrapad channel 1 is controlling the pitch
- a combo of 2 Quadrax LFOs is controlling the shift
- Scales is controlling two lead voices"

Deep & dark jam w/ Deckard's Dream, Octatrack, ContinuuMini, modular (collab w/ Crooked Walking)

Published on Jan 31, 2020

"A live, semi-improvised hardware performance, and inspired by late-night collaboration. Tim Rich (aka Crooked Walking) was kind enough to host me as we stumbled our way into making a song from scratch. I handled some of the bones of the structure, and Tim was masterful in detailing the song with rich, unpredictable modular sounds. He also took advantage of the ContinuuMini (and its EagenMatrix internal synth engine) to make a great lead voice. I'm super pleased with the results of our night of hanging out.

At the end of the session, we decided we'd both take the audio and video and mix it in our respective ways. As such, please check out Crooked Walking's version of the audio and video here!: [below]

Written and performed in a 3-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

Elektron Octatrack MkII — Drums, bass, ambience, MIDI sequencing for the Deckard's, effects for the Deckard's, master-level effects and scenes
Black Corporation Deckard's Dream — Three synth lines

Crooked Walking's setup, in order of appearance (thanks to Tim for writing this):

Morphagene – I caught an interesting loop in the 4ms Dual Looping Delay while I was running a different Quanta patch and recorded a couple variations of the patch into Morphagene. The Gene Size and Slide parameters are being manually controlled from the left two sliders on the Intellijel Tetrapad. The morph and Organize parameters are being modulated by the Malekko Voltage Block.

QuantaPercussion – This is a drone coming from Quanta on the iPad running one of the new Hainbach test equipment patches. The Quanta is set to drone a few notes that are then run into the modular. They are patched through a VCA with a Intellijel ADSR envelope being triggered by the Monome Grid running the Kria software on the Ansible module. The output of the VCA is then run into the 4ms Dual Looping Delay which is being controlled manually throughout the video (top right of the eurorack). The output of the Dual Looping Delay is going into the Intellijel Planar for some panning effects modulated by an LFO from the Monome Arc4. Finally, it’s being output into the Make Noise QPAS. The stereo width controls are being modulated by the Malekko Voltage Block. The filter cutoff is being controlled manually from the right most slider on the Intellijel Tetrapad. The high pass output from the QPAS is then recorded.

ContinuuMini – The ContinuuMini is running a choir preset from the EaganMatrix directly into Ableton. There are several plugins on the patch, most notably Ableton Echo for delay and the XLN RC20 Retro Color emulating an old cassette tape to lower the fidelity of the otherwise pristine sounding ContinuuMini.

Kick – The Intellijel Plonk SubKick preset is being triggered by the Monome Grid (running the Kria program on the Ansible module as described above in the Quanta Percussion description). The output is running through the LoFi Junky and, most importantly, through the Klangbau Rohren Tube VCA.

Crooked Walking x Jay Hosking | Modular, Deckard's Dream, ContinuuMini, Octatrack +

Published on Jan 31, 2020 Crooked Walking

"This is my first full track in a long time, and I'm so excited that I got to make it with Jay Hosking. Some recent major (positive) life changes have kept me from making music, but I've finally got my new space setup and am back to making sounds.

Jay is a wizard with the Octatrack and really built the structure of this piece. The first two minutes are mostly him performing with Deckard's and the Octatrack."

"This is the third generation of Intellijel’s much loved Korgasmatron filter designed in collaboration with David G. Dixon.

The Morgasmatron features two completely independent six-mode filters (labeled “A” and “B”) — each with its own mode-select knob, input, output, cutoff, resonance, Q-drive and gain control. Each filter has a pair of CV inputs (one with a built-in attenuator and the other with a built-in attenuverter) for modulating cutoff, and another CV input for modulating resonance. Both filters self-oscillate at maximum Q, and produce pitched sine waves that track the two separate 1V/OCT inputs.

You can use the two filters independently of one another, or you can use them together (in either a series or parallel connection) and smoothly crossfade between them using either the XFADE knob or the XFADE CV input and built-in attenuverter. You can flip the DRY switches to instantly bypass either or both filters; invert the phase of Filter B; or overdrive Filter A by switching on the new Overdrive circuit. A MIX output provides (as you might suspect) a mixed output of the two filters.
