"Welcome to the first part of my new series called Kraftzwerg Speak. All the sounds you'll be hearing in this series are created exclusively on the MFB Kraftzwerg semi-modular analog monophonic synthesizer. This series will be all about creating unique and interesting sounds. If you want to hear music produced by this synth, check out my Kraftzwerg Trance series.

Kraftzwerg Speak Part 2 - Pinging Filter
YouTube Published on Sep 5, 2012 by chisel316
"In the second part of this series, I examine the Kraftzwerg's self-oscillating filter. A random sequence of frequencies is sent to the filter with the emphasis turned up to the point of self-oscillation. The filter is "pinged" from the envelope generator and modulated by dual LFOs. External delay and reverb were added in Ableton Live. Hope you enjoy it!

Published on Nov 5, 2017 chisel316
"My humble attempt at remaking the classic Michael Jackson song using the Social Entropy Engine as the MIDI sequencer. All patterns were sequenced from scratch by ear. I thought it would be more fun to watch if I selected the patterns in real time instead of programmed the whole song.

Keys - Roland Boutique JU-06
Horns/Strings - Korg Module (Glasgow Gadget)
Guitars - Korg iM1 (Darwin Gadget)

Modular Techno
Published on Apr 25, 2013 chisel316·51 videos
"This is a demonstration of my Snazzy FX Ardcore sketch that uses the four knobs two set an 8-bit register that is shifted when the clock input goes high. I'm using the Make Noise Function as a clock divider to trigger the kick drum produced by the Intellijel Korgasmatron. The bassline is coming from the Kraftzwerg which I recently mounted in a Eurorack panel. The Reaktor ensemble takes the CV input from the ES-6 and converts it into 8 outputs which are sent out the ES-3 to make it light up with the bassline. So 0V is represented as all 0's or no LEDs and 5V is represented as all 1's or all 8 LEDs on. This gives a visual representation of the bassline that is produced from the Ardcore. The Reaktor ensemble is calibrated for the Ardcore 0-5V range, but can be adjusted for any CV range. This is the first video since I mounted the Happy Ending Kits in a 9U Bento Box! I'm using a Jamstations amp stand which is the perfect stand for this box. Enjoy!

Fugue Machine Eurorack Dynamic Sequence
Published on May 29, 2017 chisel316
"I created a sequence in Fugue Machine and sent it out to my Eurorack. Besides the MIDI to CV, all the modules used are from the Kraftzwerg. The first playhead is controlling the pitch of a single oscillator. The other three playheads are controlling the dynamics.
Playhead 1 - Osc 1 pitch (Pittsburgh MIDI2 for MIDI to CV)
Playhead 2 - Filter cutoff (Pittsburgh MIDI2 for MIDI to CV)
Playhead 3 - Osc 1 pulse width (Microbrute for MIDI to CV)
Playhead 4 - VCA (MS-20 Mini for MIDI to CV)
Hope you enjoy it!

Modular Synth Pop
Published on May 3, 2013 chisel316·54 videos
"Here's a short demo of my Snazzy FX Ardcore triple clock divider sketch. I took the original clock divider sketch and added a third division through the DAC output. Each divider can be set from 1 to 8. The fourth knob resets the clock. I wasn't planning on making a video until I realized while testing it out that I recreated a familiar tune. :)

Modular Faux Looping Random Sequence
Published on May 10, 2013 chisel316·56 videos
"I call this 'faux' because there is no sequencer or random source anywhere in the patch! I'm using the cross-modulated MFB triangle LFO through the Make Noise Function to create a sequence from the Function's signal output that is then sampled with the Doepfer A-148 S&H module triggered from the MFB square LFO. The output of the S&H is sent to the BL Duo Quantizer and then to the Ardcore which is acting as a CV recorder to capture the notes so they may be repeated. The knob I keep turning on the Ardcore switches between record and playback mode. Hope you enjoy it!

Classic 808 tracks using TR-08 - Electric Kingdom
Published on Nov 23, 2017 chisel316
"Growing up, I used to listen to a radio show called Uncle Jamm's Army on KDAY back when it was on AM radio. The reception wasn't too good where I lived, but it never stopped me from tuning in each weekend. One of my favorite songs from that show was Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom. There's a ton of samples in this song so this is my own rendition using synths that I programmed from scratch. Of course, the Roland Boutique TR-08 is used for the beat. Hope you enjoy it!
Drums - Roland Boutique TR-08
Lead Synths - Roland Boutique JX-03/JP-08
Bass - Roland Boutique SE-02
Timpani - Bismark bs-16i soundfont (iOS)
Vocoder - VirSyn VoxSyn (iOS)

iPad mini 4 modular synth jam with cv.ocd
Published on Jun 6, 2017 chisel316
"In this video, I use the cv.ocd to convert note pitch, velocity, foot pedal and mod wheel data to control voltages which get sent into various parts of the modular synth to add dynamics to the patch. The MicroBrute sequencer is in trigger mode with the cv.ocd sending it signals on the 16th notes so it stays in sync with the iPad. The apps I show are Ableton Link to MIDI (for converting Link to MIDI to be sent to the cv.ocd), Sysex Base (for sending different configurations to the cv.ocd), MIDIBrute (for configuring the MIcroBrute - way better than the PC software!) and Kymautica AUM (for mixing audio with send effects and routing MIDI). That's an Akai mpk mini mkii resting against the iPad stand behind the Eurorack case. It's the perfect height to give me access to the controls at the top while hiding the keyboard behind the case. I'm using a Roland UA-22 as the audio/MIDI interface. Hope you enjoy it! Peace \/ chisel316"
