Volume & Panning | Schlappy Patching with Stazma

video upload by

"Episode 7 for Schlappy Patching!
Today we talk volume. Might seem boring but changing the volume of a sound over time result in dynamic, and it is actualy quite awesome! Also if you can change the level of something on one side of the stereo field, you get "panning" effect, without the need of a pan pot on a stereo mixer (you need two VCAs instead). Anyway we'll explore things volume related, using a drum mahcine and some sounds generated by the Three Body, mostly using Nibbler for stepped modulations.

Have fun watching!"

IMAVAI #2 / 3 eurorack patches suggested by viewers

video upload by BRiES

"In this IMAVAI episode I try to patch a polyrhythm using clockdividers and function generators. I have a go with the Walsh bank on JENA as a source for triggers and audio for the LPGs on AGOGO. Finally I make a patch where I use the sine output of GENERATE 3 for audio and use the other outputs to module parameters on a wavefolder and a filter."

Music Generated by IOLabs Flux for Sequential Prophet 10

video upload by Friendly Noise

"Flux is an incredible rhythm generating machine, but it can also make repetitive or evolving melodies. All melodies in the video are generated in real time by Flux. I used the Befaco VCMC voltage to midi converter to translate the analog triggers and voltages generated by Flux into midi messages that the Prophet 10 can understand.

On Mordax Data’s display you can follow the note triggering, with lower notes in the upper lane and progressively higher notes showing in the other three lanes.

Some delay and reverb were added in the DAW after recording."

How To Use An Oscilloscope With Your Modular System

video upload by Patchwerks

"In this video Nick Bigelow of Patchwerks shows us how to use the Mordax Data Oscilloscope in a modular system.

Get the Mordax Data here:

'The DATA is a digital platform for testing, measurement, and signal generation in Eurorack modular synthesis systems. It is a modular tool kit, with functions applicable to any system and style.

Use the DATA’s scope to view the interactions between your control voltages and audio signals, allowing you to master your modules by understanding their voltage ranges, control shapes, and parameter responses. Use the DATA’s dual waveform generator to dial in a precisely scaled LFO for CV control, or use the waveform’s frequency “note mode” to effortlessly make dyads (two note chords). Use the DATA’s clock program as a master clock or to divide or multiply an incoming clock signal, sending four different clock outs to gate modules directly or as control to sequencers.

The possibilities of the DATA are basically unlimited; with the included microSD you can update the DATA’s firmware and we can continue to refine and create new programs.' -Mordax

Healing Solfeggio Frequencies with Mordax Data & BitBox

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Just looking at the number of plays a typical Healing Frequency video gets, I'd say they're in high demand and highly appreciated. So in this video I wanted to share some tips and tools so you can make your own scales and tunings, and maybe turn your modular into a spa/wellness center to make people feel good. And I have to admit, fooling around with these Solfeggio frequencies has been super relaxing! But I bet it's more about working with a modular system!

Some resources about the subject"

Quick Tips : Spooky Synthesizer Sounds!

video upload by

"We take a quick look at making two spoOo0ky sounds for the Halloween season.

The first, a growling bass, uses a stereo oscillator's unique stereo field to create evolving and animated filter movements and behavior.

The second, a classic Theremin sound, uses slight vibrato and reverb to create a warbled and eerie sound!

What other iconic spooky sounds would you like to hear this October? let us know in the comments below!

Modulation: Periodic vs Random vs Chaotic

Published on May 22, 2020 Learning Modular

"What are the differences between periodic modulation (i.e. a normal LFO), a random CV source, and a chaotic CV source? Some may be surprised to learn that the chaotic source is actually a cross between a random source and a normal LFO: its output can be fairly consistent for a few cycles like an LFO, but then it will create its own variations on the theme. In this introductory video I demonstrate these differences, both controlling a filter cutoff (one dimension) and the two timbre parameters of a 2hp Vowel oscillator (two dimensions).

If you would like to dive deeper, I’ve created a pair of companion posts for my Patreon supporters. The first ( goes into more detail comparing these three types of modulators, including patch and application suggestions; the second ( goes deeper into explaining chaos theory and some common characteristics of chaotic CV sources.

I am also creating videos on Ian Fritz’s ChaQuO, Chaotica, and Hypster modules that will be made available to +5v and above Patrons, as well as those enrolled in the Eurorack Expansion: Extended (Tier 3) course on"
