3 increasingly weird ways to program a TR-606 module (but keep it satisfying)

video upload by mylarmelodies

"This is a blend of: A 606 clone eurorack module demo (the LPZW/Tubbutec 6m0d6), and a tutorial - laced with tips and tricks - exploring three increasingly weird ways to trigger and modulate (drum) modules in general - using Gate & CV, Trigger Riot, and sneaky tricks in Ableton Live & MIDI. The overall theme is: Keeping the results 'musical' and satisfying.

We'll also make a generative sequencer with the Mutable instruments stages and use it to control the excellent Doepfer A-111-6. We'll drive it with the Music Thing Mini Drive. We'll turn the Tiptop Audio Trigger Riot into a modulation sequencer. We'll then use Ableton Live and we'll absolutely smash this thing to bits with some simple but very interesting methods to get completely wild patterns, that would take a LOT of modules to do in analog-land.

Happy days."

Tips & Tricks: Elektron Analog Heat +FX with a MIDI Sequencer For More Creative Control

video upload by Group Technologies

"We are all aware of how versatile the Analog Heat+FX dynamic sound processor from Elektron is at processing, manipulating, enhancing, and twisting sounds. The Analog Heat+FX is truly a mighty palette for processing sound; either as an end of chain mastering tool or spicing up your drum machine, synth, vocals and anything else you can throw at it. In this video we look at how to use MIDI CC via the MIDI track(s) on the Syntakt to control various effect parameters on the Heat+FX. Effectively we sequence the different type of effects and parameters, going a little nuts in the process. Whilst this is great fun, it’s also a great way of experimenting with sound design and creating new sounds!

The heart of the Heat+FX is a stereo distortion unit with 8 fully analog circuits that offers everything from clean boost to total annihilation. The additional digital effects; delay, reverb, warble, bits, chorus, compressor and bass focus offers endless possibilities to sculpt your sound even further. There are over 100 effect parameters that can be controlled via MIDI CC on the Heat+FX, and pairing it with an external MIDI sequencer opens up a huge range of creative possibilities. Any Elektron MIDI sequencer, as found on the Syntakt, Digitakt or Octatrack are all great at complimenting the Heat+FX. MIDI tracks on any Elektron sequencer can control up to 4x MIDI CC parameters per track. In this video we use 2x MIDI tracks, controlling 8 parameters across reverb, delay and chorus effects, although the potential to mangle and twist your sound is almost limitless making the Heat+FX a fantastic sound processor!"

PP1 Pitch to CV/Gate (or MIDI) Converter

video upload by O.Z. Hall

"The Behringer Perfect Pitch PP1 is a pitch (audio mono signal) to CV/Gate ( or MIDI ) Converter. You input guitar, voice, flute, violin, trumpet, synth, any monophonic instrument and play a single note (pitch). It will convert that pitch to a MIDI note or Control Voltage plus Gate for an analog (CV) or digital (MIDI) synth. It allows you to play your synth by singing, or playing guitar, etc.
This video has numerous examples of doing just that. It will explain all the controls on the front panel, as well as giving you tricks and tips on how to get the smoothest control out of it.

Tips & Tricks: Class Compliant USB Audio Interface with Elektron Drum Machines and Synths

video upload by Group Technologies Australasia

"Did you know that almost all Elektron devices* are USB class compliant? That means you can easily send audio out from your Elektron drum machine or synth directly to your Apple iOS or OS device and record proper line-level audio. This is great for quickly capturing that beat you've been working on and sharing it with friends or for posting on social media like a pro. In this video we look at how easy it is to plug and record audio to your Apple device with no additional drivers, app or software required! It's also possible to send any incoming audio from external sources routed through to your Elektron box, out to USB as well. In this video we jam the Elektron Syntakt together with a vintage Roland TR-606. The TR-606 audio is running into the external input of the Syntakt and all the sounds from both devices are being routed directly via USB audio into an iPhone.

Elektron firmware provides options for choosing what audio source output you want to route to your iOS device. The default setting will send the main stereo outs, whereby the mix of all your tracks inside your Elektron box is sent out via USB. Alternatively, there are options to choose a specific track out via USB; perhaps you just want to send your sick bass line without the kick drum — yes you can! The Analog Heat+FX also has the option to process incoming audio from USB, offering a two-way audio solution that has many creative applications. Your iPhone or iPad microphone might be good at recording your voice, but they're not great at capturing and representing your latest beat creation.

Spectralis 2 Tutorial: Sending drums to analog filters tips and tricks

video upload by MIDERA

"I've been spending a lot of time with the Ensoniq Mirage and sampling drums (which come out sounding so good) and wondered whether I could beef up the drums within the spectralis itself. I realized that I could send the drums to the analog filters and then do all sorts of things with it.

Note that this doesn't have any melodic stuff in it and it's using a simple drum beat, but I figure that will help you understand what it is that's happening with the sounds. Hope it's of use to any Spectralis user or potential Spectralis users.

This WILL work for both Spectralis 1 and 2 units equally. There will be no difference in sound (unless you haven't yet performed the filter fix on your Spectralis 2, then it will sounds much darker on your unit).

Abstrakt Avalon MOD ENV sidechain tips and tricks

video upload by manmade madman

"The MOD ENV on the Avalon can be super useful as a sidechain for 4 on the floor music. In this use, it will duck the audio on the steps that its triggers.
The MOD ENV is a simple Attack/Decay envelope which you can use on the filter or VCA. You need to adjust the Attack/Decay according to the tempo, and you can get syncopated things going on which aren't possible on a standard Roland TB-303.
Near the end of the video, it can also become a "reverse" sound as it sweeps in slower than the normal attack."

• Original Shipping Box
*Keyboard Stand Not Included

Original owner. Seriously underrated vintage additive synth with tons of real-time controls and classic programmable arpeggiator. Gently used only in a smoke and pet-free home recording studio. Fantastic sounds, amazing keyboard feel and action - really the nicest keys on a synth you will ever play.

Excellent working condition: all buttons, pots, keys, and controls work perfectly. All jacks/connectors are solid with no audio or midi issues. Display has slightly dimmed, but is still legible and bright with full contrast control.

Cosmetically it’s in excellent condition except on the left side of the keyboard, above the drive slot and pitch and modulation wheels, (see pic) there’s a small blemish/chip in the dark blue where it looks like something was dropped on it (I don’t remember what it was or when it happened). Additionally, further down, closer to the left edge of the keyboard, left of the Pitch Bend wheel is another mark that’s about the size of a pencil tip and barely visible. Hopefully, you can see from the pictures that these are really minor blemishes on an otherwise beautiful synth."
