Experience Mobile Mobile

Experience Mobile Mobile from James Théophane Jnr on Vimeo.

"Work asked me to do something for their Christmas card. I work for an Interactive Agency.

To cut a long story short, after a company-wide upgrade the agency had a lot of old mobiles gathering dust. We took these, built and hoisted a gigantic interactive chandelier/mobile that plays Christmas jingles in our reception.

To add a little xmas spice to the mix, anyone can go online and enjoy annoying the hell out of people waiting around in the reception, by playing the thing live from their web browser: xmas.lbi.co.uk

Details on how we made it and some behind the scenes content are available on my blog: theophane.co.uk/mobile-mobile

Mobile Mobile has been made as a semi-permanent hanging (exhibition) space. In January the mobiles will be replaced with another hanging media, then updated month in, month out.

Mobile Mobile is just one in a line of many great lo-fi art/build concepts; from the Design Museum's Aquarium, Digital By Design, Troika and The Cloud, the Printer Bleeping Thingy (I can't remember who did it), all the great work by W+K, and of course, AKQA's wonderful microwaves from last Christmas.

Looking forward to many more to come.

Good Cause: One of the largest problems facing the developing world is a lack of trained physicians. MoCa, is a health screening system for developing countries using mobile (cell)phones and open source technologies. See mocamobile.org"

Atomic Shadow - Greetchplug Berna Album

You might remember Berna from Greetchplug in this prior post.

Atomic Shadow wrote in to let me know he has recorded an album primarily featuring Greetchplug's Berna: "The project Berna album by Atomic Shadow is complete. All twelve tracks were done with Berna software by Gleetchplug. Most of the tracks were done in real time as semi-improvisations with only the field recordings used in the virtual tape recordings prepped beforehand. Track #3 had on overdub of Wine Glasses from Mtron Pro by GForce Software and track #12 had an overdub of the faux theremin from a Kaos Pad 2.

"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie and this music. The music has been made entirely with Pure Data (2 complex sequencers + 2 graphical synthesis synths) passing through Plogue Bidule (long delay effect) in only one take, no overdub and no edit. What i play is what you hear. Enjoy !"

Moog Modular Synthesizer

via this auction

"Incredible custom rack-mounted Moog Modular synthesizer. The piece was custom racked by Steve Masucci from tested modules. The ultimate in vintage synthesizers. 100% working and in very good physical condition. The unit has two 901b oscillators and a 901a controller - the 901s sound the best of all the moog modular oscillators - in my opinion. Other modules include the venerable 904a low pass filter, voltage controlled amplifier, envelope generator, noise, and mixer. The modules are in two pieces in black front panels. The synthesizer will be sold as-is due to the vintage nature of the instrument. The instrument is approximately 19" tall (by 19" wide). The modules are powered by a modern International Power Supply with a power switch and fuse added next to the mixer (the glowing red light indicates that the unit is on). The harness and power to all the modules work. There are paper tags stuck on the back of the modules: 901a Serial # 1083 JUL6 1968 R.A. Moog Co Trumansburg N.Y., 901b Serial # 1255 JUL6 1968, 901b Serial #1254 JUL6 1968, Model 902 no serial number but printed TEST STANDARD also R.A. Moog Co Trumansburg N.Y. The envelope generator is fairly new - labeled ©1996 Moog Music Inc. There is no label on the 904a or the 903 but both appear to be vintage and in excellent condition. All the modules except for the Envelope Generator read R.A. Moog on the front panel. The envelope generator reads Moog with the icon in the first o."

"just a test run of my new freebass 383[303 clone].

a track featuring the freebass [2 tracks], alesis sr16, and the zoom g1 effects pedal for a bit of reverb and delay.

the tracks not amazing but its just to show off the synth =D

the freebass 383 is an analog clone of the famous roland tb 303 bassline synthesizer, the sound comes very close to the original 303 =].
