Vermona Quad MIDI-CV Interface

via Vermona

"We are currently working on a MIDI-to-CV converter for 3HE eurorack modular systems, based on the PerFourMers MIDI interface. The module features four CV/Gate channels that can be used individually or in any combination in monophonic or polyphonic modes. Beside a gate- and a 1V/octave-CV-output each channel has two additional CV outs for controllers like Pitch bender, modulation wheel, velocity and more. Clock outs are available as well as a reset out.

The module will be avaliable in autumn this year at a price of EUR 300,00."

A BugBrand Baby - Weevil Makes You Go Bye Bye

"Jules wrote to me recently with a wonderful picture - his new baby boy with his old Weevil (c.2006 I think).

'I cannot tell you how brilliant the weevil is in terms of helping this little baby sleep.'"

श्रुति-1 (Shruthi-1) Monosynth assembly

श्रुति-1 (Shruthi-1) Monosynth assembly from Justin on Vimeo.

"Assembly and test of the श्रुति-1 monosynth from Mutable Instruments. Here is what MI has to say about it:
The Shruthi-1 is a hybrid monosynth, combining the warmth of real analogue filters with the edginess and synthesis possibilities (FM, wavetable oscillators, modulation matrix, sequencing, full MIDI implementation) of digital synthesizers. Its hardware design is deceptively simple — optimized for DIY assembly, not for large-scale manufacturing — but don’t be fooled, its sonic range is wide! Sometimes grungily digital like a PPG-Wave, fat and funky like a SH-101, videogame-y like a Commodore 64, weird and warm like an ESQ-1 ; but more often than not, truly original.

Folks with quick eyes will notice that the video shows both the CEM3379 & SMR-4 Filter board and two different digital control boards. I've built a few of these devices over the past months and ended up using the best bits of video from each build. So yea, don't get your panties in a knot about it.

The music is by a currently unnamed project I'm happy to be a part of. For the purposes of dissemination it needs a name, if only a temporary one, so I'm calling this one Enchanted Forest. It's a bit of an inside joke for the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, you can hear the Shruthi with the SMR-4 filter in full effect all over this recording doing what it does best: sounding awesomely weird."

"Innerclock Systems Sync-Gen II PRO: Cubase is our master time, it sends the audio pulse to the Sync Gen 2 which in turns drives the rest of the gear (as much as we can plug in at once!). The timing out of Cubase 5.5 translates perfectly and we are recording live on the fly back into Cubase with everything lined up on the grid perfectly! It was disconcerting buying all this gear and then sitting there wondering how to keep it all in sync, basically we ripped our hair out until we found David's Innerclock website. Serial #001 arrived and from that day forward, we have been graced with the ability to waste absolutely zero time on setting things up, finally turning it on and pressing space bar and sitting back, to us this has been a god send !!"
