Beginning at 4PM we will begin the 7th Annual Austin Analog Synth Party! (7AAASP)

7 years ago Chad Allen (Switched On owner) founded the tradition of once a year inviting synthesis practitioners and enthusiasts to bring their prized analog synthesizers and come play under one roof. We encourage you to show off what you have & get to know your neighbors!

IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE:
Please bring a pair of headphones and a keyboard stand! Also any printed text/media is welcome to be displayed if you have a particularly rare or unique synthesizer. All forms of analog keyboards, modular equipment, drum machines, video synthesizers (must provide your own screen), noise machines, etc. are welcome!"

Moog Theremin refinished

"I purchased my Theremin plus from a gentleman who built it from the factory kit.

I was never really satisfied with his finishing of the housing of the Theremin, so over the Holiday break I refinished it.

The grain of the wood on the cabinet really spoke to me and the eyeball was what it needed / wanted.

The eye area was sanded to raw wood, the lashes and the outline of the details were wood burned into the case using a hot tip pen / knife.

I then stained the case and around the eye. The eye was then treated to a coloration technique using pastels and markers. Sadly, it looked twice as good before I clearcoated the whole case as the clear paint soaked up much of the pastels.

The color of this thing really got washed out in the video conversion, it looks much better in person. Let me know what you think.

Audio is a little jam using the modular synth and the Korg ER-1 mkII."

Zeroscillator Test

"This video is definitely just for modular synth users, in particular for people who have or are interested in getting a Cyndustries Zeroscillator, meaning this is long and geeky with no entertainment value, folks! ;-)"

VALENTINE'S TEASER - THE SMASHERS

"MUSIC - THE SMASHERS"

Features the Percussa AudioCubes.

" The story behind this video started one year ago. We were looking for a way to thank all the girls who’ve been supporting us even when we were djing in the smallest bedroom you can imagine. As kind of a “thank you”, we came up with this idea to make the valentine’s mix 2011 for our biggest supporters :-)

The mix of last year was recorded very cheaply by just fading one youtube video in and the other one out ;) . The last couple of months we got to play in clubs and our djing skills evolved a lot. We came to the point where we decided we wanted to make our performance more unique than the one we had. That’s how we decided to use the Percussa AudioCubes for our gigs together with Deckadance, professional DJ software from Image-Line.

It is so much fun when one person is using the Percussa AudioCubes for looping and mixing effects while the other one is looking in the tracklist for the next song, or the other way around. When using the Percussa AudioCubes together with Deckadance we experienced an easyness in djing we never had before. Also, it also looks outstanding when two guys are waving in front of two light-emitting cubes on stage ;)

So, we were talking this years valentine’s mix, and we somehow ended up in my bathroom recording this video as teaser for this years mix. We made this video just for fun, but in the end we are overwhelmed by the positive response we got for this video ;) Anyway, the main thing why we did is to to thank all our friends for supporting us all the way so far…"
