-CALC- Lep-Cuit Naturale - Novation Circuit and Leploop shake hands firmly

Published on Jan 7, 2016 -CALC-

"I forgot I made this.... ages ago!

It's the wonderful Novation Circuit joining forces with the wonderful Leploop. This track starts from scratch so everything is being made in real time... Circuit makes it an total breeze to do this.

Before a chat with Tonylight (Absolute gentleman, legend and inventor of the Leploop) I didn't even realise that the Leploop worked with a MIDI note input on channel 1.... I've previously just used the MIDI input to clock the internal sequencer but it really opens up musically when the Leploop's synth has a tempered pitch fired into it!

One thing that is missing though is the Leploop's Cassa (kick) drum, I think I must have forgotten to record it.... Even so I think it still sounds interesting without it. Especially the Leploop's Osc FM madness!

Leploop synth is being sequenced by Synth 1 sequencer from Circuit but the noise hi-hats and (not heard Cassa) are internally sequenced. Circuit is on drum duties and the Synth 2 bass line at the end, it also sometimes doubles the Leploop part on Synth 1.
MIDIClock is coming from Circuit."

Ensoniq SQ80 / ESQ1 iPad Editor for MIDI Designer Pro

You'll find the free template here. You'll find MIDI Designer Pro here.

A quick note from the creator of the template: "This was created with MD Pro 1.7.0. Since I only own the SQ80 I've not been able to test it for the ESQ1. However, if I'm not mistaken, the main difference between the two is the additional oscillator waveforms available in the SQ80. I'd expect the ESQ1 to ignore values outside the normal range, but if it causes problems they can be easily deleted from the list. I can say with certainty that it will NOT work with the ESQm as the addressing of parameters is different..."

EMS' Peter Zinovieff on New Midi Controller "Touché" by Expressive E Coming to NAMM

Peter Zinovieff talks about modern musical interfaces

Published on Jan 6, 2016 Expressive E

"The inventor of one of the most famous synthesisers of all the time, the VCS3, talks about Expressive E' s new musical interface..."

And some info directly in via a contact at Expressive E:

"I work for a young company named « Expressive E», located in Paris.

We are developing a new kind of musical controller named « Touché » which will be unveiled for the first time at the NAMM SHOW 2016.

Touché, is an innovative controller, a revolution in how you play with software and hardware synthesizers by offering extremely precise and sensitive gesture controls.

Its wood surface was designed to react to the smallest vibration, the slightest pressure of your hand, allowing synth players to shape sounds spontaneously as with an acoustic instrument.

A great number of artists (Adrian Utley (Portishead), John Baggott (Massive Attack, Robert Plant) , Rone, Matt Robertson (Björk), Peter Zinovieff, etc.) already agree on the fantastic potential of this product : Touché appears as a breath of fresh air in the world of MIDI controllers!"

Update: Expressive E will be at NAMM booth #4807 for those attending.

You'll find a PDF of the Media kit here, captured to the left as JPEGs starting with the second image down.
