Eurorack Modular Demos by Brandon Logic

Playlist:
1. Reflex Liveloop use as a sampler demo.

2. Epoch Twin Peak vs the Klangbau Twin Peak filter. Filter sound comparison.

"From 0 to 3:45 i'm filtering a square wave from the Sputnik Oscillator through the Klangbau then through the Epoch. from 3:45 to 8:40 i'm using only triggers from Mutable Instruments Grids into the audio inputs of the filters (and multing to mod a and b of the Epoch). Here, the Epoch is panned hard left and the Klangbau hard right. from 8:40 untill the end, it's back to the sputnik square and some random wiggling of both filters at onece, still panned hard left and right.

Recording is completely dry, no effects or eq. In this demo, i'm using animodule line amp as a buffered mult to split the signal going into the audio input of the epoch to also go into the peak a and peak b mod inputs of the Epoch. This is because this is similar to how the Klangbau's Tr-F1 adn Tr-F2 controls are internally wired. I am using channel two of the line amp to boost the output of the epoch because it tends to output below standard euro modular level. line amp helps boot it normal euro levels. The Epoch requires more patching for this comparison but it also has more cv inputs for modulation and is a little more flexible under cv control and is easier to fine tune with it's knobs compared to the Klangbau's joystick, which make it hard to dial in two specific filter frequencies to track with other oscillators and v/oct, although the joystick is nice for improv and performance . you might notice that the Klangbau sometimes has a little clipping or distortion. from my experience this is part of the character of the the Klangbau version, which can sound nice! it can be controlled to some extent with the input level knob. The Klangbau will consistently self resonate with the resonance all the way up, so it is capable of longer sustaining rings . the Epoch does not self resonate like this without modulation/pings."

3. Glockenspiel vs Modualr adventures in sound.

"here, i'm experimenting with running acoustic sound (glockenspiel and drum) through my synth for both audio processing and triggering sounds and events. the sound runs through the 4ms spectral multiband resonator to convert the audio into envelopes which are then converted to triggers to fire sounds in the synth and trigger random voltages (wogglebug, ura, a-149 and turing machine) which create the variety of sounds you hear. I'm using the 4ms dual dealy to create the loops. the glockenspiel loop is then going through the reflex liveloop to create the glitchy delay and pitch shifting effects. the drum loops its going the warps parasites dealy and then to clouds for more audio manipulations."

4. modular sketch 6-30-16 4ms dld dual looping delay and mutable instruments rings patch

5. First 4ms dual looping delay patch - thumb piano - sound on sound loop and manual delay manipulation

6. Modular evolving random patch in progress

SDS Digital Reflex LiveLoop & ModEM-1 LFO & ADSR Eurorack Modules

Published on Sep 14, 2016 freshnelly

The above is a playlist of all the videos currently featured on the freshnelly channel. The first 29 are on the SDS Digital Reflex LiveLoop eurorack module, followed by four on the ModEM-1 LFO & ADSR, followed by a few DIY videos.

The following is some info on SDS Digital Reflex Liveloop module via freshnelly.com. I couldn't find additional info on the ModEM-1 LFO & ADSR as the home page requires Flash which I do not have installed.

"Introducing the Reflex LiveLoop! The tradition of sampling in the modular world has always been guitar pedal loopers, offering no external control, or a large complex external box, or modules with only 3 or 4 seconds of sample time. The Reflex LiveLoop breaks all of these barriers by gracing your rack with only 16HP, but sporting a full 174 seconds of sampling time @48KHz 16 bits, in stereo! This is better than CD quality sound, ready to manipulate with CV's and triggers in multiple layers, and record all at the same time.

The Reflex can slice up a long sample using the unique "peak slicing" algorithm, a trigger, or just a button. The power of these slices is then accessible via CV and trigger. Furthermore, they can be modified with the PlayFX button to tune the start and end points for each slice. These slices, or even samples, can also be Granulized into a micro loop, which then can move reverse or forward at varying rates up to 2 times. This also allows for pitch shifting a sample without changing the beat, or changing the speed without changing the pitch.

With 3 different Modes, Record/Play, Echo, and Layer, all with the ability to sync to an external clock, almost every sampler /looper requirement can be realised. Imagine an echo, synced by a trigger/ clock/ foot switch/ Record button, with controlled feedback and even a 3 band EQ. Then imagine it being 30 seconds or 8 bars long! The echo can be switched to an infinite echo that will continue forever, or can degrade according to feedback settings, EQ settings, or a feedback insert that can run through any filter or FX that you can imagine!

The Reflex LiveLoop can take you intuitively on a sonic voyage you don't want to miss!

Elka Capri 300 / Panther 300 Combo Organ with Strings & More

"Here we have a 1960's Elka Capri 300 combo organ. It is identical to the more well known Elka Panther 300. According to the Combo Organ Heaven website, this organ was marketed under two different names depending on the location.

This organ has been professionally serviced and is in great working condition. We recapped the power supply, cleaned the keyboard bus bars, replaced the tone decay lamp, replaced the knobs and tuned the oscillators. We also replaced some faulty components that were causing some parts of the organ to not function.

Features include: multiple vibrato options, multiple footages per note with selectable filters for each footage, mixture control for unique harmonics / ring modulator like sound, fully polyphonic bass section with optional extension for two octaves of bass (grey keys), tone decay (subtle envelope applied to the mixture footages).

The output of this organ uses a TRS (stereo) jack. The purpose of this is to allow you to use a bass amp for the bass section, and another amp for everything else. If you plug in a regular mono instrument cable, you will not hear any bass section. You can use an adapter that merges the two signals into one cable, or you can use a split cable and plug the two ends into two different amps.

There is a discoloration on one corner of the organ. We've included a picture showing that. The organ also comes with a sheet music stand and we'll include a power plug with it."

Product Overview: The Novation Circuit

Published on Sep 23, 2016 Magnetic Magazine

"Magnetic contributor and Moody Records label manager Ben A drops an excellent overview of the Novation Circuit.

Earlier this year we got a look at the Circuit during the annual NAMM conference, and we were blown away. The Novation Circuit is actually an independent musical sketchpad that has it's own onboard drums and synths + it works with your DAW like any standard MIDI controller.

No computer no problem. The four–part drum machine and two polyphonic synths can be sequenced in real time or via steps. You can listen to your composition on the onboard speaker or plug in your headphones; this thing runs on batteries, so you are truly mobile."

Percussa Intros Synthor Modular Synthesis System (Knobcon 2016)

Published on Oct 3, 2016 Synthtopia

"At Knobcon 2016, Synthtopia talked with Percussa's Bert Schiettecatte, who gave us an overview of their new Synthor Modular Synthesis System.

The Synthor system is built around the idea of tangible computing - where physical objects are used to represent and control virtual objects within software applications.

With Synthor, the Percussa AudioCubes act as wireless controllers that let you create synth patches, while the Remote lets you control things like patch selection and settings for virtual modules.
