Peter Brown from Roland demos the AIRA System-1 synthesizer at Kraft Music.

Want Less talk and more play? Take a listen to the Performance video here: [below]

Meet the SYSTEM-1, a synthesizer probably unlike any you’ve encountered before. Like its predecessors, the SYSTEM-1 breaks new ground with remarkable flexibility and access to a vast palette of synthesized sounds with the bold and unmistakable character associated with Roland synthesizers for nearly four decades.

At the heart of the SYSTEM-1’s sound is our new Analog Circuit Behavior technology (ACB) which Roland uses to carefully analyze every aspect of analog circuits and then faithfully recreate them down to the finest details. This technology fills the SYSTEM-1 with a fusion of beautifully classic and utterly modern synthesizer tones.

Electro Harmonix Super Space Drum and Vintage Memory Man with DIY Patchable Synthesizer

Published on Mar 13, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The drone sound is made with a two oscillator Voice of Saturn Synth Run through a resonating bandpass filter, with another resonating bandpass mixed in as a tone source. This drone goes through the vintage Electro Harmonix Memory Man in chorus mode. The bass sound is two low tech 555 square wave oscillators mixed into a Q&D low pass VCF. Electro Harmonix Super Space Drum provides the kick drum and everything is sequenced by the Korg SQ-1.

The Super Space Drum is simultaneously the weirdest and coolest pedal that you never realized that you wanted. A modern reissue of the 1979 Electro Harmonix classic, the Super Space Drum is ready to act as a crazy sound effect, part of your analog drum machine setup, or as an envelope/VCA for external audio.

New Kinetik Laboratories Dao - Algorithmic Chopper

Dao with Gort and Volca Sample Published on Mar 13, 2017 Kinetik Laboratories

"Korg Volca Sample act as clock master for Dao and Gort - the Robot.

Gort is processed by Dao - Algorithmic chopper.

Dao is a pattern controlled gater capable of turning every signal connected to the INPUT JACK into a rhythmic sequence, passing or muting it towards the OUTPUT JACK.
The rhythm patterns are based on the position of two knobs, PATTERN LENGTH and CHOP NUMBER, allowing an intuitive use of the device."

"Dao is a pattern controlled gater capable of turning every signal connected to the INPUT JACK into a rhythmic sequence, passing or muting it towards the OUTPUT JACK.

The rhythm patterns are based on the position of two knobs, PATTERN LENGTH and CHOP NUMBER, allowing an intuitive use of the device. Users can generate up to 136 patterns by setting these knobs.

The ON/BYPASS switch is used to turn the effect on and to start the pattern generation.

The CLOCK RATE knob is used to set the internal sequencer tempo.

The DECAY switch is used to choose the chopped audio slices length. Using SHORT setting is possible to obtain percussive sounds from every kind of continous sound as pads, drone and noise sounds.

Dao generates a 5 Volts pulse, at the beginning of each step, on the SYNC OUTPUT jack. It can also be synchronized to external devices using the SYNC INPUT jack. When a jack is connected to the SYNC INPUT, the CLOCK RATE knob has no effect and the sync signal is replicated to the SYNC OUTPUT allowing synchronization of compatible equipment.

Dao must be supplied with an external power supply, providing 9vDC on 2.1mm barrel jack, negative tip.

Price: 250€ shipping not included. "

Bass Station 2 "paraphony" trick

Published on Feb 1, 2017 Comparative Irrelevance

"Thought I'd share this little trick I like to use on the Bass Station 2. (explained below)

A neat thing about the digital controls on this synth, is that they make it really easy to tune your modulation to musical intervals (especially since the screen shows actual semi-tone steps instead of generic 7bit MIDI values).

In this example I have OSC2 tuned a minor third above OSC1, and I'm using the mod wheel to change the interval to a major third. In principle, this could be any two intervals that you can flip between, essentially letting you play some two-note chords on this mono synth."
