Octave Cat Demo - Making a rhythmic patch

Published on Nov 25, 2018 Earmonkey Music

"The Cat is 42 years old and it sounds great. Here I'm creating a rhythmic patch by using the Cat's square wave LFO to create different tonal intervals and percussive sounds with the filter. Enjoy."

PPG WAVE 2.2 - Ambient Sounds, Pads & Presets 【SYNTH DEMO】

Published on Nov 25, 2018 synth4ever

"Ambient synth demo of the PPG Wave 2.2 digital / analog hybrid synthesizer, filmed at the Synth Palace in Montreal, Quebec Canada (www.synthpalace.com or .net).

The PPG Wave was built by the German company Palm Products GmbH (now Waldorf) from 1981 to 1987. The PPG Wave synths use digital samples of wavetables and feature analog VCA envelope and VCF (filter) sections for a classic and warm sound.

The PPG Wave was produced in 3 different models:

- Wave 2 (1981–1982) - 8 oscillators (one per voice), 8-bit resolution, single modulation wheel, CEM 3320 VCFs

- Wave 2.2 (1982–1984) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 8-bit resolution, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs

- Wave 2.3 (1984–1987) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 12-bit resolution, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs, 8-part multimbrality

This synth demo features some ambient sounds, patches and presets from the PPG Wave 2.2 synthesizer including pads, S&H modulation and LFO tweaking.

All sounds are from the PPG Wave 2.2 synth with no external effects."

"1980's Roland Juno Alpha-1 vintage analog synthesizer in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original manual. The Alpha Juno is a worthy addition to the Juno family, with the sliders and buttons of previous iterations replaced by membrane buttons and the Alpha Dial, which is used to edit and browse through the extensive selection of parameters. Features include DCO digitally controlled oscillators, LFO, bend, ENV, pulse, waveforms, noise, PW/PWM, high pass filter, VCF (filter) with freq/env/res/LFO/kybd, VCA envelope, chorus, and more. A PG-300 synthesizer programmer (not included) is compatible with the Alpha-1, giving the user traditional slider control of each parameter for faster editing.

Other touches include better MIDI implementation than previous Roland synths, 64 presets and 64 user patches, LCD display, an LFO capable of a very slow rate for some cool sweeping effects, and a great bass sound and noise effects! It also has chord memory, portamento, and keyboard transposing. All functions work as intended, and the keyboard shows sparingly little cosmetic wear."

Vintage Korg MS-03 CV Signal Processor SN 181023

"These rare accessories were built around the same time as the MS – 20 and MS-10 semi modular synthesizers. This unit controls a synthesizer with both with trigger and CV inputs via a 1/4 inch audio input. Essentially it is a audio to CV converter. Some audio signals and sources track better than others (there is some unpredictability to be expected).

From the Korg original literature...

'Allows any instrument to 'play' a synthesizer.
This signal processor converts any audio signal input into a synthesizer control signal. Put together a guitar or vocal synthesizer instantly by connecting the MC-03 between your guitar or mike and any synthesizer with CV and trigger inputs. No alterations are needed; just by plugging into the MS-03 and adjusting the controls, your instrument can actually 'play' the synthesizer. When performing live, connect a foot switch for portamento, pitch hold, and other useful effects.'

Great overall condition. Some minor blemishes typical for a nearly 40 year old piece."

"Just recently serviced, tuned, calibrated etc. List of maintenance includes:

-Removed, cleaned and reinstalled bus bars
-Cleaned key contact springs
-Recapped all electrolytics
-Replaced both sets of cinch jones connectors
-Recalibrate, tuned, scaled

The keys play really smooth and it sounds great. I inherited this and don't really have a use for it...

Kitten not included."

Tokyo Tape Music Center is a play on the San Francisco Tape Music Center. This is the first one featured on the site.

"Tokyo Tape Music Center - Dual Sine/Sawtooth Generator Model 158 - Buchla 100 eurorack style. Factory build, not DIY.

Excellent dual oscillator, captures the 100 sound. Waveshape & FM on each oscillator. Runs at Buchla's standard 1.2v/Oct, unlike the majority of euro modules. It's easy to convert incoming voltage to this standard with Disting, Synovatron interface, or Ornament & Crime. External control does require a voltage offset, just like the 100 series did. TTMS makes a version of the 156 voltage processor, or you can use any other processor with offset.

The Tokyo Tape Music Center stuff is beautiful and well built. You won't be disappointed. This one didn't fit into my workflow like I'd hoped, but I'm sad to let it go."

Mutable Instruments Plaits Audulus Drum Machine

Published on Nov 25, 2018 audulus

"This video is a short demonstration of Audulus' power to sequence the Mutable Instruments Plaits as if it were a drum machine using an Expert Sleepers ES-8.

Audulus sequences the CV changes for pitch and model to Plaits and triggers it in patterns.

You could do this with another hardware sequencer, but it would require at least 3 separate lanes to sequence everything. With enough outputs, you can even take control of every single Plaits parameter on a per-step basis.

You can also effect your drums on a per-step basis, sending your hat to a delay while you send you kick to an overdrive.

This video also features the Roland 512 VCO and 505 VCF, as well as the Erica Synths Fusion Tube Mixer.

"There is a reason you never see the CMU-810 for sale. It might look basic but it really is a tone monster. It sounds huge and greasy! Many people consider it the best Roland mono. These can be played by themselves and can also be integrated with your vintage Macintosh or PC computers."
