VCV Rack Now Supports VST Plugins

VCV Host Overview & First Patch Published on Nov 29, 2018 Omri Cohen

"Well, apparently, the creator of VCV Rack doesn't want us to have a social life, or a job, or relationships... The VCV Host and Host FX were introduced this week, and oh man, they are beautiful! With using them, we can load VST instruments and effect in VCV Rack, and control\modulate them within VCV Rack with the available modules.

In this video, I go through the different sections of Host and Host FX, and then I build a couple of patches with using Form, Kontakt, Battery, Wider, Arturia's Buchla Easel with the modules of VCV Rack."

AE Modular Wavefolder Tutorial, Patch Tips, & Jam #TTNM

"Here's a quick tutorial for the Tangible Waves AE Modular Wavefolder. MORE INFO AND PATCH TIPS BELOW =)

---------

The AE Modular Wavefolder, based on a vintage circuit design also used by Ken Stone, takes a waveform and clips and folds it. This creates a more complex sounding waveform, of which you can of course modulate the parameters with CV too. In this video I also present a few patch tips, for this seemingly simple module. Let me know if you have an questions :-)

Patch tips:
- Create a sine wave from a square wave VCO running through a low pass filter with low cutoff frequency. For pitch sequencing, you might want to add a little bit of pitch CV to the filter cutoff control too, not just the VCO. This is often called “keyboard tracking” in non-modular synths’ filter settings, which makes sure that the filter opens up a little on higher notes. Otherwise, a constant cutoff will dull the sound of higher notes more than lower notes.

- Feedback: Patch the input signal (e.g. a triangle wave) in a mixer and the mixer output in the Wavefolder. Then patch one Wavefolder output back into another mixer input and slowly turn the mix knob up. For voltage control over the feedback, patch the Wavefolder output in a VCA and from there into the mixer. Modulate the VCA with an LFO, Envelope, Sample & Hold or Sequencer then. Feedback can get very crazy quickly, so start with low knob and modulation settings.

- Since the Wavefolder creates complex (harsh sounding) waveforms, you can send them through a filter to smooth them. As they are different than your standard square or sawtooth waves, they also sound different, and often more interesting, through filters.

- Try modulating the Wavefolder’s shape with its input signal, i.e. send the triangle or sine wave audio signal in the audio input and the CV input as well."

Rakit Baby 8 and Drum Synth | Sound Demo + Overview

Published on Nov 27, 2018 littleBIGsynths

"Hey guys! New toys!! 😁 lol In this video, I give you guys a quick overview of the Rakit Baby 8 and Drum synth. Rakit is a small, UK based business who designs these really cool DIY electronic kit. interesting right? Oh, and don't worry, if you are like me and don't have any soldering skills... you can purchase them pre-assembled. 👍🏻 lol

So, I haven't really had much time to play with them, due to this crazy busy holiday season... but with the little time that I have spent with them, I have already had a ton of fun. 😉 This tiny 8 step sequencer and drum synth are definitely a great addition to my collection of battery powered jam machines and I'm really looking forward to playing with them more.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video. As always, thank you for watching littleBIGsynths. 👊🙂"

OlllAudio-Minimoog Filter/ARP 4075 Filter - unboxing Eurorack modules

Published on Nov 29, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Today, the mail surprised us and provided an amazing delivery from OlllAudio Eurorack Modules straight from Saint Petersburg from Russia.

We are very happy because there were 4 amazing modules inside of which two of them are filters based on great vintage equipment and just one on Minimoog which is famous analog filter for modular synthesizers, the scheme was created in the 70s by Robert Arthur Moog, and the other one, filter based on ARP 4075 and this is a replica of the famous ARP Filter schematic with styroflex capacitors and main-chip which has been maked in 80-s. Both filters are provided for the creation of 'Very Fat specific sound', additionally there is one here module Ring modulation -At the heart of device is the strong transistor schematic which have maximum analogue sound ,and one multiple which of course, will always increase our eurorack system for multi conections and more combine modulation.
we opened the package from OlllAudio Eurorack Modules and today we have a small movie showing these modules and a small filtering Filter based on the classic Minimoog from the 70s.

As you can see, the sound is fat, but it's the beginning, because it's a small unpacking with a sound demo. We have already checked the ARP 4075 Filter and it's definitely awesome.

OIIIAudio certainly has a strong and thick analog sound and only classic Vintage equipment.

It is also worth checking the sale which is on a few selected modules on the official website
