In this video, I control an acoustic drum kit through my Arcadia controller using 4 Polyend Perc drumming machines. Every sound you hear is performed live simultaneously, no overdubs or sequences.

Note to my subscribers: I had to re-upload this video to meet the contest's requirements. Apologies if you've already seen it.

Gear used: Sequential Prophet XL, Studio Electronics Boomstar 4075, Polyend Perc, Arcadia keyboard (custom built by Moldover).

Video by John Thompson (Ballooga Media).
Recorded at 'Dead Aunt Thelma's Studio' in Portland Oregon, engineered by Sacha Muller.

Prophet Rev2, Arturia Microbrute & OP-1 / Atmospheric 80s Jam

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Synth & Sundry

"Dave Smith Instruments Prophet Rev2 , Arturia Microbrute and Teenage Engineering OP-1 all together in one room for an eighties relaxing synth jam played live by two sets of hands.

This is the first time I've jammed alongside the DSI Prophet Rev2 and I have to say I am very impressed by its lushness and warmth. It strikes me as a player's polysynth with which can easily rustle up rich and immersive pads, leads and key type sounds. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs in terms of bass and more atonal textures.

Recorded through RME Fireface UC. Drums provided by Ableton Live

If you'd like to hear more music from us, you can check out these convenient playlists:

Roland Jupiter-6 | You Got Me Dreamin'

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Alex Ball

"Finally got to have some time with the one Jupiter I've not played properly; the Jupiter-6 from 1983.

For starters, it's a big bulky instrument that matches the Jupiter-8 in terms of scale, but then there are quite a lot of differences.

It's sound is rawer and colder than the hi-fi Jupiter-8, most likely to do with it having different circuits and also digital LFOs and envelopes (combined with an otherwise analogue signal path).

It also has combinable wave shapes on both of the oscillators (rather than them being switchable as on the Jupiter-8) and various keyboard modes with some quite narly detune.

The verdict: I like it.

Sounds used:
Roland Jupiter-6 (1983)
Roland SH-101 (1982)
Yamaha DX7 (1983)
Oberheim DX (1983)
Sequential Drumtraks (1984)
Roland TR-606 (1981)
Roland TR-808 (1980)
Ibanez JEM 7DBK (2001) / Fender Blues Junior II mic'd with an SM57 / Boss CE-2 (1979)
Vocals recorded with an AKG C414s

Sequencer: Cubase
Plugins: Waves, IK Multimedia, Past to future, Steinberg, Goodhertz"

Eurorack ambient groove

Published on Mar 13, 2019 While We Were Sleeping

"๐ŸŽง or ๐Ÿ”Š ๐Ÿ”Š for stereo image
I was not sure how to title this one, so will just give the long story:
I have been playing the same patch now since Christmas. I just can't stop myself. I have been mostly playing Techno and other fastest paced stuff so needed to slow down to stop myself going crazy and this jam is the result. The patch started as an Ambient piece. The original patch had the Malekko voltage block sequenced from Ableton and I will sone put out that video. After recording the Ableton peace, I changed over to using the Malekko Varigate 8+ to sequence the voltage block and I have not stopped playing the patch since then. Simply changing the attenuation and offset on the Clock/CV in of the voltage block gives me so many parmutation of the pattern. I got about 8 more faster-paced jams recorded so thinking of sticking them on in one long video when I get the time.
The other thing that happened to me is that by some miracle I looked down and noticed my Roland Juno 60 seating under my eurorack and decided it would be nice to actually switch it on.

Would love to know what you think of this track and the patch?

The patch:
The synth lead/bass part of the patch is using a single oscillator (Thomas Henry 555) that is processed by 3 filters and one triple wave folder. It then ends up in two VCAs + envelopes (Hexinverter Galilean Moons) . The Voltage block has each of its steps tuned with pitch and varies other filter and wave folding parameters. The Varigate 8+ is used for sequencing the steps of the Voltage block and trigger the drums. the drums are barely noticeable just to give the patch some movement and a some groove.

The recording:
This was recorded live on Instagram. I had tried to do a YouTube live but unfortunately, that did not work with my iPhone 6 so still looking for a workable solution for YT.

Dr. Bรถhm Solist 78 Jam with Digitech Synth Wah Pedal

Published on Mar 13, 2019 Italian Vintage Stuff!

"The Digitech Synth Wah really plays well with these type of machines.
There has two outputs, wet/dry, great for further modulations, in this case I ran the clean signal through the Roland Space Echo Re-301 via the Roland PA Stereo Mixer 250."

Albastru Infinit: Epic Flight | TORAIZ \\ DIGITAKT \\ ROLAND SH-01A

"๐Ÿ‘‰Find more details about this track & download it from my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/25339430

Since my camera didn't want to cooperate on this simple short track, I had to comeback to film this slo-mo.

Anyway, it would not have been such a "watchable" live-studio show, since there are only three synths I used for this minimal track: #RolandSH01A for the first "harpsichord" sequence (using Boss RV-3 & Behringer FL600 for that effect), #ToraizAS1 for the bass line and #Digitakt for drums. You would just probably watching me tweaking the filter on Toraiz. And pushing the play/stop buttons!

Enjoy this little epic track! If you want, you may add some choirs in your mind, until I'll release such a version of this track! ๐Ÿ˜œ"
