SISTERS WITH TRANSISTORS is the remarkable untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers, composers who embraced machines and their liberating technologies to utterly transform how we produce and listen to music today. Theremins, synthesizers and feedback machines abound in this glorious ode to the women who helped shape, not just electronic music but the contemporary soundscape as we know it.

Avant-garde composer Laurie Anderson narration accompanies fascinating archival footage to trace the history of the technological experimentation of sound, the deconstruction of its parts and the manipulation into something altogether other. While traversing a range of musical approaches and personalities, from academia to outsider art to television commercials, we meet Clara Rockmore, Bebe Barron, Suzanne Ciani, Laurie Spiegel, Daphne Oram, Pauline Oliveros, Delia Derbyshire and Eliane Radigue, fascinating and enigmatic musical geniuses and their peculiar way of hearing the world.

Perfect Circuit Plays PATCH THE CARD GAME w/ the Make Noise Shared System

"In this video, our Patch Pals Wes and Jacob try out Patch The Card Game, the modular-focused card game designed to inspire new and creative ways to patch your system. Developed by modular mogul James Cigler, the first volume of Patch TCG provides three types of cards to help craft patches and make changes ranging from subtle to drastic. Abstraction cards tend to provide a starting point for a new patch or add in a substantial element, while Progression and Disruption cards respectively signify small and large modifications to shake things up.

Because of it’s fairly open-ended approach, there are no hard rulesets or highly specific ways to play Patch TCG, and it totally facilitates single or multiplayer experiences. Wes and Jacob are using the Make Noise Black & Gold Shared System Plus in this particular video, but the cards are designed to work with any kind of patchable modular synthesizer.

Microwave XT x Spitfire Albion Tundra - A beautiful pairing

"I wanted to make a short demo using the Microwave XT to show how well this wonder-machine can fit with acoustic instruments, particularly within the context of film scores. In this track, I've used a few instances of the stunning Spitfire Audio Albion Tundra library for NI Kontakt along with a single recording of a pad patch I created on the Microwave XT. While auditioning wavetables to use with this track, the Organ wavetable stood out as the winner with these particular chords, but I'm very much looking forward to sharing more music using the other factory wavetables which definitely can evoke different thoughts, feelings, and emotions mixed with the endless universe of possibilities the MWXT is capable of. I would love to hear any thoughts you may have as well!
