"Moog Music donated a gorgeous white and blue Moog Voyager to the Bob Moog Foundation, and the Bob Moog Foundation is raffling it off as a part of their Indiegogo campaign which is designed to help expand their hallmark educational program Dr. Bob's SoundSchool nationwide. This Moog Voyager was signed by a lot of Moogfest artists! The artists who signed include Brian Eno, Moby, Edgar Froese (of Tangerine Dream), Chromeo, Amon Tobin, Suicide, STS9, Passion Pit, Beak, Ghostland Observatory, Holy Fuck, and TV on the Radio. Donate to this worthy cause today, and get the chance to own the most valuable Voyager in the world!"

Signed Voyager Demo

"This song is going to get a better name at some point. All of the sounds are Moog Voyager except drums. I really focused on playing the frequency knobs on this one, and the result is a deliciously messy not-always-in-tune slap in the face. Like the last Voyager demo, I feel like this should be made into a full-length song. Maybe, since that's the case, I should feel a little less ambivalent about the Voyager."

CASIO VA-10 CIRCUIT BENT VOCODER SYNTHESIZER

via this auction

"This model is an amazingly useful and versatile studio piece on it's own, never mind it being a professionally circuit bent version by SPUNKYTOOFERS, like this specimen. Aside from being an amazing synthesizer, it also functions as a great vocoder."

YouTube Uploaded by spunkytoofers on Dec 28, 2008

"these are rare keyboards. this one was sent in on commision. casio va-10 is a keyboard and a multi-effects processor which can effect sounds onboard or from external ins. an ambitious keyboard for the consumer market that didn't make it far for production.

this keyboard had alot of bends that were unstable so i just went for a simpler approach to effect the effects processor.. the kinds of control you can apply to the effects proccessor range from feedback depth, unique ring modulations, continously variable bit depth reduction, clocking the pitch shifters like a whammy, psychadelic panning effects, strange sounding chorus sounds, modulating pitch for sampling and delay playbacks, etc etc.. some of the multi effects onboard controls aren't very useful but when bent some in particular are very effective.

on this keyboard besides various ways to control the effects i've added an onboard sample looper that is sent from a seperate output from the main outputs on the keyboard.

in this demonstration the self oscillation from the delay feedback from the effects is used as it's own as an instrument.. there are various ways to EQ the delay feedback, vary it's modulation and depth, and it can be pitched just like an analog delay feedback..

that plug is a power cord 9V negative tip. the sound you hear is coming from the speakers on the instrument in this demonstration

it's a really great piece of casio gear.. when bent it probally is one of the more unique effects processors out there.. good luck if you ever find one.. this one has to be sent off unfortunately.."

Blacet Hex Zone Sequencer SS 2800 16 Step for Modular Synth

via this auction
"Here is what Blacet says about it on their site: The Blacet SS2800 Hex Zone is a microprocessor controlled 16 stage sequential switch with programmable extras such as 2 control voltage outputs per step, gate width per step (+ rest, hold, loop ) and dividable clock out. All programmable features are automatically stored in non-volatile memory. The memory holds 32 sequences and 60 “chains” of sequences.

The module has an internal clock that may be programmed in BPM or TPS (Time Per Step) or an external clock may be used. External inputs are also provided for Gate and Reset. The sixteen switches are fully bidirectional so that the “Switch” jack can be an input or output. The active switch can follow the logical sequence or the module can be programmed to activate any switch on any step. A random function is also available. A high quality rotary encoder with a built in push button switch is used to select most programmable settings. The push button can be used in the sequence edit mode to step through the sequence, allowing fast editing. A backlit LCD display provides easy to read information. We designed the Hex Zone to get you up and running and having fun without having to plow through hundreds ofmanual pages of esoteric features and complex menus!"

Azimuth Generator synth from Tronsonic

YouTube Uploaded by tronsonics on Nov 14, 2011

"This is the prototype version - a synth split into 3 main parts - bass, mid range buzz saw, noise (on f#1) and a high saw.

It is designed to be a very analogue sounding experimental performance synth - split into parts not only for playing convenience but for inspiration.

The bass synth oscillator comes from a modified square wave from a 50s valve signal generator - distorted using the even harmonics of several vintage valves and given a raspy tone by adjusting the azimuth (angle) of the tape heads on the tape recorder it was recorded to.
The tape signal was blended with identical non-tape saturated samples to provide this unique virtual oscillator.

The noise signals appear on f#1 only, and are a blend of pink and white noise (the latter widened with a spring reverb).

The mid section is a modified saw wave from an analogue modular - transformed using modulation, valve distortion and tape saturation into a buzz saw.

The high saw is from a moog source, recorded to tape.

This is from the proto pack, with over 100 patches for esx24 and kontakt.
There will be more oscillators, waveforms and patches available in the future."

Voice Lessons

"Voice Lessons
by John Keston

Voice Lessons is an electronic, audio device that interrogates the popular myth that every musical instrument imitates the human voice. Touching the screen allows the participant to manipulate the visuals and vocalizations of the “voice teacher” as he recites vocal warm up exercises.

The piece resides in the space between a musical instrument and voice lesson. Move the touch point left, right, up, and down to explore the visual and auditory possibilities. Rapid high pitched loops occur while touching near the top of the screen while lower pitched longer loops are heard near the bottom.

The actor, also named John Keston, is the artist's retired father who became a voice teacher after a long career on stage in plays, operas, and musicals with the Royal Shakespeare Company in his native country England and abroad.

IDOW & MATRIXSYNTH Modular Pic of the Week - Week 3 Contest Winner!

"Our third winner of the Modular Pic of the Week contest goes to Claus Niegsch (AKA Weinglas) for his 'Modular Bokeh.'

Weinglas' music is best described as "a lot of noise and dark soundscapes." Claus' photographic work is based on macro pictures or pictures with a very shallow depth of field, as seen in 'Modular Bokeh,' which was made with Aperture 1.2!

Check out Weinglas' music on SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/weinglas

We'd like to give a big thanks and congratulations to Claus Niegsch for his submission! This is the 3rd week of a 30-week contest, and we are looking forward to many more modular photo submissions, so please keep 'em coming! For details on how to submit and what you can win, see this post.
