Rendez-vous 4 remix by Lackan

Published on Oct 13, 2016 Lackan110f

"Rendez-vous 4 is one of my favorite songs by Jean Michel Jarre, but I have always thought it was to soft produced to do the great melody justice.

So I did a up-beat cover, using only analog synthesizers. All is programmed from Logic, and the song is recorded in one take. Hope you enjoy!"

Jupiter 4 vs. Teisco SX400 chorus comparison.

Published on Sep 26, 2016 Lackan110f

"The Teisco SX400 is a very close copy of the famous Roland Jupiter 4. Most of the SX400-functions are copied straight of the JP4. When it comes to sound they are pretty close, the Teisco being somewhat softer and the JP4 sounding harder.

The biggest difference is the chorus. When the JP4 has a 2 x BBD-chorus the Teisco have a 3 x BBD-chorus. Here you can hear the difference between them."

Teisco 110f Wave Animator

"A short demo of a wave animator I have installed in my vintage Teisco 110f. Its almost like you get a third oscillator to this 2-osc synth. Really neat!"

Toi + Moi cover by Lackan feat. Lachtite du coin

"Toi + moi by Grégoire is one of my favorite songs all time. When I stumbled across an acappella version by Lachtite du coin I decided to put some music to it."

Computer animated synths featuring the gold and black ARP Odyssey and Simmons drum pad.

And the acappela version so you know the source (no synths):

Modified Moog Realistic MG1 DEMO

Published on Apr 16, 2015 Lackan110f

"The old Moog Realistic MG1 is a great little synth, superior to the Moog Rogue in my opinion. But it has a number of shortcomings, which all are rather easy to modify.

I have added a sustain pot, overdrive, PW/PWM, FM, LFO speed, low octave, poly vibrato among other things. This turns the rather inexpensive MG1 to a real good alternative to just about any other vintage mono synth out there, for half the price."

Polysix PWM from EG

Published on Mar 25, 2015 Lackan110f

"I just restored an old Polysix and when I was at it I installed PWM from EG as well. A feature that I always missed on the P6 compared with the Juno 6/60 of the same era."

40235 Filter Demo [ARP 4023, 4035 & 4075 Filter Comparison]

Published on Jan 15, 2015 Lackan110f

"A short demo of the three different Odyssey filters. All three installed in my ARP Avatar.

Joachim Verghese [ARPtech] designed a nifty 40235 filter combining the ARP 4023 and 4035 filters, and this video shows some of the characteristics between these two, and the original 4075-filter."

Fade to Grey - remixed by Lackan

Published on Dec 20, 2014 Lackan110f

"One of the best pop songs ever written. I have tried to be true to the original, and only beef up the sonics. This is how I would have produced it back in 1980 - if I had not been in primary school…

The gear used is the ones you see in the video. No software or computer generated sounds. The real deal as it was in 1980. (Ok, I know both the 909, Linn. MonoPoly and some of the others was later than 1980...)

My intention has been to do a fair remake, with the original sonics but with more power. Hope you enjoy!"

It sounds huge, doesn't it?

Demo of the OBMx

Published on Apr 23, 2014 Lackan110f·12 videos

"A demo song with just the OBMx multi tracked. It is really a great synthesizer, and anyone saying you can't get it to sound good just don't know how to use it.

Just using the knobs is using only half the synth. In the Matrix you really can spice up the sound for extra deep filter sweeps or controlling when different filters should come in.

It has bee accused of sounding digital, and when adding all filters on top of each other you quite can get that digital sound to it. But when only using the 24 dB filter it sounds just as analog as it really is."

Cool render.

Hjärtats Slag

Published on Mar 6, 2014 Lackan110f·11 videos

"Synthpop in swedish, that started out as a demo of the Oberheim OB1. I liked the sound and the beat so much I decided to do a whole song of it, instead of just the intro to the demo. The instruments you see are the ones that you hear.

If you type in "Oberheim OB1 Demo" in the search field, you will find the whole demo. The 2-pole filter on this one is wicked!"

Allt är bra (bara bra)

The baseline is both a Ody 2823 and a Avatar though. For the maximum ARP 4075-fatness."

Demo of the KIWI-3P

Published on Feb 9, 2014 Lackan110f·9 videos

"A short demo of some of the patches on my KIWI-3P. It really is the 2.0 version of JX-3P. I have owned a JX-3P since 1986 and the thing that always bothered me the most was just having one envelope, so this is pure bliss.

I am sure that I miss demonstrating many cool features, but this is the way I use the KIWI the most. For that phat Roland sound."

ARP 4075 filter mod

Published on Jan 18, 2014 Lackan110f·8 videos

"A short before and after demo when I did the filter mod on my Avatar. The difference is very subtle, but you can notice it.

Never mind the difference in bass, the Ody seems to have a higher bass output for some reason.

The difference is most noticeable when the filter is opened or sweeps, the unmodded filter sounds a bit more 'in a jar'."

Teisco SX-400 Sound Demo

Published on Sep 22, 2013 Lackan110f·5 videos

"A demo tune just using the Teisco SX-400 multitracked. I did use some delay, final compression and EQ to the mix.

The SX-400 is especially great for fat pads and nice leads, but can also produce some very fat base sounds when in mono mode. A very versatile synth with the best from both the mono- and the poly world.

Gordon Reid at SOS really hasn't got a clue what he is talking about... :-)"

Oberheim OB1 sound demo

Published on Sep 20, 2013 Lackan110f·4 videos

"A sound demo just tweaking the OB1. No extra FX used, recorded straight from the synth in to the camera. Unfortunately the louder parts has some camera dist to it, but I hope you can hear beyond that and hear the real sound.

The OB1 is especially great for fat basses since it has one sub-osc to each oscillator, and both 2-pole and 4-pole filter. But it can also produce some weird sync- or ring modulated sounds. A very good bread'n'butter mono synth.

I have tried to cover most of the features, but I am sure I have missed out some things. But this will at least cover the basics I think."

Teisco 60f

Published on Jun 1, 2013

"A demo of the Teisco Synthesizer 60f. No extra FX used. Some pots are a bit crackly and the Youtube sound compression is a bit hard at times. Sorry for this.

But I think you will get a general idea of what this marvelous little synth is capable of. The main feature is undisputibly the lush low pass filter, that thanks to a design similar to the Moog technique doesn't loose tone when resonance is up high."
