stenciled onto the case.

"The Oberheim Two Voice Polyphonic Synthesizer contains two Synthesizer Expander Modules, each of which is electronically a complete synthesizer, an eight position, two voice Quantized Mini-Sequencer with Sample & Hold, and a true two voice polyphonic, 37 note digital keyboard.
This combination of electronic music modules allows the synthesizer user to control two completely independent synthesizer voices. For instance, the upper and lower voices from the keyboard can separately be directed to the two Expander Modules for playing two separate musical lines from the keyboard. Or, the Sequencer program can drive one Expander Module while the user plays the second Expander Module From the keyboard. Or, the Sample & Hold can drive one Expander Module while the Sequencer drives the second.

The secret to the Synthesizer’s Flexibility is the Synthesizer Expander Module. Despite its small size (7 1/2″ by 9″ panel size) the Expander Module is a complete basic synthesizer.

The two voice digital keyboard can be operated in either the polyphonic or monophonic mode.

When – operated polyphonically, two separate and independent sets of control signals are available to drive the Expander Modules.

In the monophonic mode, both sets of signals operate when a single key is pressed. This one key depression can then drive four oscillators, two filters and four envelope generators, thereby making monophonic synthesizer sounds previously available only to users of large studio synthesizer.
Two Voice Keyboard Electronics include a three position switch which enables you to select left voice first. right voice first or unison. Also included is Portamento for the left and right voice, a two octave Transpose switch and a Pitch Bend Pot with center detent which covers a two octave range.

The Mini-Sequencer adds greatly to the Two Voice Synthesizer’s capability. Basically, it consists of a dual output, eight position quantized analog sequencer, combined with a sample & hold circuit and voltage controlled clock. The two separate control voltage outputs from the Sequencer can be used to generate two separate melodic lines through two Expander Modules. or one control voltage output can produce the melodic line while the second drives the voltage controlled clock to produce the desired rhythm."

LinnStrument Cell Highlighting for Teaching Aid and Eye Candy

"In this video, Beethoven's "Für Elise" is playing in Logic Pro X as a MIDI file.

The LinnStrument is connected over USB and receives the MIDI notes in real-time. MIDI channel 1 is shown in the left split and channel 2 in the right split. Each note highlights all the possible cells that can be played to perform the same piece.

The LinnStrument automatically takes the layout, octave and transposition settings into account.

This feature provides an excellent teaching aid since it works with any existing MIDI file. By varying the speed at which the MIDI notes are sent to the LinnStrument, the piece can start slow at first and be gradually sped up.

Obviously, this can also be used for cool light effects, it's not necessary to make the MIDI notes play sound. A separate method using MIDI CC messages is also available to directly control cell colors by coordinates without them being related to MIDI notes."

There you can patch yourself at any time and dance on the street if you like to. If you like to perform the systems you should ask in the shop during daytime - monday til Thursday - then there will be another weekend patch prepared and the system closed for you."

via the seller: "For Sale is likely the only original Moog synthesizer owned and used by Keith Emerson that will ever be for sale. Keith Emerson’s other Moog unit, his massive modular system, will certainly one day wind up in a museum and not be available to collectors.
This incredible and historic Minimoog has some very serious provenance. Keith Emerson owned it, recorded with it and toured with it using it on his most famous 70’s and 80’s tours. Further to that Keith had it heavily modified for his unique purposes making it truly a one of a kind relic of music history.

Robert Moog liked the idea so much he created a prototype of what was to be a factory split system. Photos of that unit are online however I have never known anyone to actually own one or see one..

It was technician Tony Wride, who first acquired Keith’s original Moog Minimoog directly from Keith Emerson in 1992. As the story goes with a bit of help from Will Alexander who handled the transaction. The unit was later sold to a synthesizer collector in Texas via auction. That collector is whom I purchased it from.


A unique opportunity to own a piece of Rock history! This Minimoog was one of the earliest ones owned by Keith Emerson (26 June 1973 date on keyboard) and he had the keyboard and electronics separated so that it could be used in his stage setup. Basically the keyboard was set up to slide into place when required while the electronics section remained out of the way"

Update via Seth Elgart in the comments: "Moog actually did make a split keyboard. I've never seen one in person but they did exist. A bit more polished than Emerson's actually as it's not a modification."

"This is not a kettle, it is a synth. It's a drone synth / sound machine with 3 oscillators, combined by 2 different methods of signal heterodyning to produce interstellar cosmic electronic sounds! This device makes some of the most analogue, yet raw sounds, I've ever made with any variations of this circuit! (my patented C493 circuit).

It has two light sensors (on each side of the kettle, towards the front) and two touch contacts on the top.
