"I would say this might be the coolest Korg ever made. 4 Oscillators that can be played in unison (monophonic all 4 osc), Polyphonic mode with one osc per note, or my favorite Unison/Share mode where the osc divide based on how many keys you press. Play one key and all four osc trigger, play a 2 note chord and each key gets two osc, etc. I find this synth 100 times better than the Polysix. Each osc has it's own wave shape, tune, and volume. Crazy Xmod and different osc sync functions and that great Arpeggiator that can trigger all the osc together or cycle through them for some really amazing results."

"This tutorial is all about easy ways to add a noise source to the Volca Modular. There are lots of way to do this of course, these are just some of my favourites that fit alongside the Volca nicely and aren't going to break the bank too much. Btw I don't really have a decent camera that does a good job of the head shot style intro. This was shot on the same iPhone 5s which is 720p when front facing which is why it looks soft focus, I'm not really into that 'Murder She Wrote' look so I think I'll buy another camera.

The Space Dialogue - a Fun Homage

"Skip beer-and-babble intro to 3:49​ for the start of the piece and 8:08​ for some comments about the sounds and ideas that went into it. This was meant to be sort of an homage and cheezy collage of synth soundtracks and pieces that I've really enjoyed over the years.

This piece was mostly a side project that gave me something to do from my laptop during corona lockdown and other fun over the last couple of years. It was done mostly with Reason softsynths, with a big assist from the Dreadbox Typhon.

The idea for something like this had been floating around in my head for a while. I originally wrote and recorded the dialogue back in mid 2019, and I've been slowly shaping it, tweaking it, mixing it, and slightly altering it for almost 18 months. The biggest challenge for me putting this together was mixing the various elements and balancing the levels. Though 90% of the melody and arrangement was put together in the first 5 or 6 months, early versions were a bit muddy and crowded, before I started trying for a "less is more" approach. I removed redundant clips/melodies, filtered out the low end where needed, EQ’ed mids more than I usually do, and tried not to drive the mastering compressor so much. I’m fairly happy with the final mix, though there’s still room for improvement. It was fun and a pretty good learning experience.

Thanks to some of the "green screen" community out there for offering up a few special effects. Now I need to go back and find out who to give credit to after I post this.

And of note, I think this is the first ProckGnosis theme I've done based mostly on guitar!"

"This is the third song with the Bastl Instruments XOR. It's a monotimbral, 6 voice polyphonic, wavetable-based synthesizer using bit operations to add harmonics to the sound. The resulting dirty digital modulation artefacts makes it unique sounding.

I used it for the recording in the following FX pedal chain:
XOR - Elektron Analog Heat - Pladask Elektrisk Fabrikat - Pladask Elektrisk Draume - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."
