Roland RS 09 Analog Organ String Synthesizer - first look at this vintage synth

video upload by Expanding Sound

"Just picked one of these lovely vintage string synths. It doesn’t do a lot of different things, but what it does it does great. The organ and strings blend together great. The ensemble effect makes it sound huge. I’m guessing this is a cousin of the vintage vocoder."

Updated Site Links & Some Tips Navigating the Site

This is just an FYI that the links above (top of the site) have recently been updated. I'm trying to keep things minimial for easier navigation. They are pretty self explanatory, as are the USEFUL LINKS on the (top) right, but just in case:

NEWS = news items / product announcements and the like.

UPDATES = updates in posts. Check this link daily. That mystery keyboard controller in the KORG ARP 2600 post? It was identified and the post has been updated.

POPULAR = Popular Posts, Labels and Archvies = the most popular posts on the site based on traffic directly to the posts, followed by a dropdown of site labels, and a node branch of all posts on the site sorted by year, month, date. Click the dropdown arrows to expand each node.

RARE = the rarest of the rare in the synth world. Many feature one-of-kind items.

MEMBERS = posts featuring supporting member content.

SUPPORT MATRIXSYNTH! = page with a list of supporting members and where you can support the site if you'd like.

---

On the right you'll find a repeat of the links along with the following added:

SUBMIT A POST = how to submit a post.

AUCTIONS = auction posts on the site.

COMMENTS = a page featuring the latest comments in posts. You can click on the user names, or post titles to get to the post.

EBAY | REVERB | AMAZON = shortcut links to get to each site. They are affiliate links so if you use them you support the site. There is no extra cost to you. If you don't use them they collect the full seller fees.

And that's it. At the bottom of every post you will find labels that will filter all posts by that label. On the top right you will find a search box to search on posts. It's set to sort by date but you can find a link to sort by relevance on top after the results come up. Finally, at the bottom of every page you will find NEXT links to get to the next page of posts. Once on the next page you'll see PREVIOUS PAGE and HOME added. Home gets you back to the front page and previous takes you to the prevoius page. Keep clicking NEXT until you catch up to the last post you viewed during your prior visit. Again, all of this is pretty common sense. Explore and enjoy the site!

Doepfer Product Announcements for SUPERBOOTH21

via Doepfer

"Superbooth 2021 is just around the corner. The Superbooth team around Andreas Schneider managed it with their hygiene and safety measures that the event can happen and personal contacts are possible again. The Superbooth takes place from 15 to 18.09.2021 in Berlin. More information is available at the Superbooth Website. We plan to present these new products and would be happy to welcome you at our booth (presumably B047 in the 'Bungalow-Dorf')."

Left: (A-100PB with a keyboard built into the lid, 37 keys, midi interface with 3.5 mm stereo jack socket)

This is the "small brother" of the monster base A-100PMB. It is very similar to the A-100PMB but has only half the width (2 x 84 HP for installation of modules). The suitcase versions A-100P6 or A-100P9 can be positioned on top of the A-100PB because the width of the A-100PB is a bit more than the width of A-100P6/P9 and the footprint of the A-100PB is adapted to the depth of A-100P6/P9. A-100PB is equipped with one power supply (1200mA) and two bus boards. The bus boards are located in the rear area (even those for the modules that are mounted in the front row). This was necessary to take advantage of the full height of the front area for installation of A-100 modules.

1 of ONLY 3.. Monomachine MK2 Keyboard // But is it worth the price?

video upload by Ricky Tinez

"Never in my wildest dreams did i think a rare synth that i never even knew existed would show up and be mine for a week to jam with, Wow! There are a few other things that are escaping me but this is a Monomachine MK2 Keyboard with a +Drive! This Monomachine was never actually put into production and only 3 exist. Jean-Michel Jarre got one for his 60th.. that lucky son of a good musician.."

Korg DW-8000 - Synth King "Analog Wave Expansion"

video upload by The Synth King

"The Korg DW-8000 is a great souding hybrid synthesizer. However, the single cycle sample waveforms of the internal wave ROMS. are a bit outdated and not really useful. The E expansion offers another 16 waveforms of acoustic instruments. Due to the analog VCF/VCAs the Korg DW-8000 can sound like a classic analog synthesizer. My idea was to replace the E expansion eproms with new eproms filled with 16 classic waveforms like saw and pulse plus a few variations.

You can download the image file of the four eproms with instructions here:

http://www.buchty.net/korg/files/BB-S...

They are for free!!"

Island Patch in the Sun - Caribbean-Sounding Eurorack Synthesizer patch featuring the Telharmonic

video upload by ElectricHartStrings

"A little bit of the Islands from my current Eurorack setup, filmed while on vacation this past July.

This video features the Telharmonic using all three outputs, with pitch comming from the Turing Machine quantized by O&C, and gates from Rene. Drums are a combination of BitBox samples sequenced from the Euclidean module and additional sounds from Plonk which is sequenced from Muxlicer. Master clocks from Pamela’s, and reverb from the Z-DSP. The Telharmonic’s Flux input is modulated by an offset slow S&H from my Teensy-based LFO module. Audio directly into and video from Zoom Q8 video camera.

Well, it has been a long dry spell! I’m finally doing some exploring and recording again (too much work, no time to play), and this is one from during my vacation in July. My system as seen in this video has kind of reached a stable point with my getting a Telharmonic (had to get one before they were gone, I got Sweetwater’s last one), a Blinds, Muxlicer, Plonk, Z-DSP, A-106-5 SEM filter and a few utilities. I also finally got a Matriarch, which I’ll feature in another video soon."

Moog Prodigy in Custom Acrylic Plexiglass Case

Custom Moog Prodigy. One off, clear Plexiglass body! Looks unreal on stage, seen here with red light shining through body.

In the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the Moog Prodigy was one of the most popular analog monophonic synthesizers on the market. And over the last four decades, its allure has hardly faded. With two VCOs (one with sawtooth, triangle, and square waves; the other a pulse waveform with sawtooth, triangle, and square), a Voltage Controlled Filter, and a Voltage Controlled Amplifier with a three-stage (ADR) envelope, the Prodigy can do everything from velvety flutes to more aggressive electronic sounds."

No mention if that keyboard comes with it. Anyone know more about it? Looks like an extremely well done DIY job.

Update via vco2vcf2vca in the comments: "Moog Matriarch Dark version, apparently also for sale..."

Curious what happened to the front panel.  Pic of a production model below via this post.

This is a Juno-106 but for the home enthusiast (HS meaning “Home Synth”) as it’s equipped with two speakers and a sheet music stand. All six voice chips have been replaced as well as a modern 3-prong power outlet installed. The speakers can be disabled by plugging a cable into the headphone output. This also has a stereo input so you can run a drum machine into the internal speakers/output."
