Swamp Flux The Biggest Foot: Nintendo Wii Balance Board to CV Eurorack Module

via Kickstarter

"The Biggest Foot converts wireless Bluetooth signals from the Nintendo Wii Balance Board into control voltages you can use in your Eurorack synthesizer.

The Biggest Foot can record and play back your motions at various speeds or be used live. Playback can be triggered manually or by a CV gate to the Reset input. The module is 10HP and working. Test units are being shown at Superbooth 23 and small synth meets in and around the Carolinas. It still has some bugs to work out, but they are minor enough that it's now time to ask 'would you buy this thing?'

I have spent almost a year researching and developing The Biggest Foot from concept to working prototype through generous Patreon support, but the sum of those donations is rather small compared to how much it costs to get a module manufactured at scale. Using Kickstarter, I'm hoping to launch not just a module, but a business too."

Behringer System 55 - First Test

video upload by O.Z. Hall

"The Behringer System 55 does not have any module called 'slew' or 'glide' or 'portamento'.
A 'slew limiter' is the circuit which creates the 'glide/portamento' effect on a synthesizer. It is basically a 6db/octave low pass filter capable of sub audio cutoff frequencies.
In this video with the Behringer System 55, I'm using the 'lowpass' eq in the 923 module as a slew limiter (glide/portamento effect)."

MUSICGEN AI Generated Electronic Music

Two MUSICGEN AI generated releases in via Liquid Sky Berlin.

First up:

AI sessions #01 - brainFKK noise - entirely created by AI by Gehirn Bernstein featuring MusicGen & Dr Walker

"all sounds you hear were generated with and by MUSICGEN
an AI freeware
arranged and mixed in ableton live
100% of the income of this release - well.... its not a "real" release - more a kind of test what is possible - goes into the Liquid Sky reforestation project.

so lets go & plant some trees!"

2nd:

#AI techno #01 - created with artificial intelligence by djungle fAIver

"Fresh from the digital womb of MUSICGEN, an AI that spins "text-to-music", comes this experimental release.

We kicked off with our hopes tuned to minimal, questioning if this machine intelligence could vibe with our underground ethos.

But, damn, the bot surprised us, spitting out raw, pulsating bad ass underground beats that made our speakers throb and clip.

On track 02 & 05 we cheated :
on track 02 we added a drumloop in the background as the AI generated loops didn t have much high freqs.

On track 05 we sprinkled in a touch of 303, just to spice up the synthetic stew. The rest, though? 100% AI machine-crafted. Pure digital grungey dirty noisey artificial intelligence techno, birthed from MUSICGEN's binary brain.

We were only using Ableton for arrangements and mixdown and some FX like eqs and compressors.

Sure, the AI's BY FAR not perfect - but the ride's only just begun.

We did not correct rendering errors from the AI.
Some of the generated loops are really WAY out of timing.

100% of the income from this release goes into the Liquid Sky reforestation.

5 Jams using the Bin Seq 8-step trigger/gate sequencer from Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Check out these 5 Jams using the Bin Seq 8-step trigger/gate Eurorack sequencer. We hope these jams will inspire you to think of new ways to patch.

0:05 Jam 1
0:38 Jam 2
1:12 Jam 3
1:56 Jam 4
2:53 Jam 5

More info on Bin Seq: https://bit.ly/3X2YeQO

Jam 1: The Bin Seq's switches have three positions: off, short gate, or tied gate. I used the tied gates mostly in this patch. The gates open up the CV on the BIA's Algorthim, Spread, and Decay inputs.

Jam 2: With the Quantus Ampla in attenuate mode, we can generate those ducking effects while toggling Bin Seq's switches. Plus, when you toggle off a switch, it affects the triggers going into the Mimetic Digitalis, which creates pauses in the sequence.

Jam 3: Here, we're using the Mimetic Digitalis as a random gate sequencer that resets the Bin Seq. This creates some really quirky patterns as you toggle the switches.

Jam 4: Yes, there are 8 switches, but you don't have to use all of them all the time! We created a 4-step pattern here and paired it up with the Pons Asinorum 4-channel voltage-controlled envelope for some really fun playability.

Jam 5: You can hear the difference between the short gates and tied gates when toggling the switches. We also have a slight warble going into the delay lines on the Imitor Versio from the Pons Asinorum."

See this post for a demo and overview of one by Mark Jenkins, and this post for some additional info on the EX1 vs. EX42 which was the stage model of of GX1, precurssor to the CS80.

Update: It's not clear how much the EX1 is related to the GX1 and CS80. According to Colin f in the comments of this post, the oscillators are digital. The EX1 was released in 1977, the same year the Synclavier was released, as well the same year Bell Labs Digital Synthesizer was developed. You can find some history on digital synthesis on Wikipedia here. The EX1 is not mentioned. According to Mark Jenkins in the comments of this post, the EX1 is is a preset version of the GX1.

"Comes complete with:
One TX-III matching tone cabinet.
Stool.
Pedal board.
Music stand.
Original Yamaha voltage converter.

The good bits:
In good overall condition with minor marks.
All keys/pedals work.
Tone cabinet works and sounds great.
All the controls apart from the ones listed work perfectly.

The bad bits:
One note on the lower orchestra (synthesizer) section occasionally sticks, not sure what the fault is.
Tremolo function doesn't work - it's probably the belt or motor inside the tone cabinet, I use it connected to an amplifier through its separate out so don't use this function.
Sine wave LFO waveshape on the solo synth not working (other waveshapes work fine).

This is an amazing sounding instrument which can layer different types of analog/digital synthesier and organ tones all at once.
Very hard to find and in very nice cosmetic shape.
Cost £27,000 back in 1977!"
