Presets of the Mighty SY99

video upload by CGMAGIK

"Released in 1991, the Yamaha SY99 was the SY series flagship. It used RCM synthesis (Realtime Convolution and Modulation) synthesis combining AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) and 6 Operator AFM (Advanced Frequency Modulation) Synthesis. RCM’s unique modulation capabilities enabled AWM samples as modulation sources for the AFM engine.

The SY99 featured a few significant upgrades over its sibling, the SY77:

A larger 76 note keyboard with zoned aftertouch (channel aftertouch programmable to affect notes played either above or below a split point independently)
Three times the amount of AWM waveforms (2 Mb in SY77 and 8 Mb in SY99)
-500 Kb of battery-backed user sample RAM, expandable to 3 Mb
-Upgraded SPX900 level multi effects
-Upgraded master keyboard functionality"

Oberheim TEO 5 / Volca Bass / Circuit Tracks - Dawless Cinematic Electronica

video upload by Scott Nellé - Plague Society

"This is a dawless cinematic electronica track, sequenced on the Novation Circuit Tracks. It features the Oberheim TEO-5 as a pad and the Korg Volca Bass making a couple of bass sounds.

In addition to sequencing the whole track, the Circuit Tracks plays drums with samples from my collection and also a supplemental string lead and pluck. I really enjoy the Circuit. For such an affordable device it's really a powerful centerpiece for a dawless setup. It also handles effects for the Oberheim and Volca Bass on this track.

The Oberheim TEO-5, my newest and biggest synth, plays a pad here with a patch that I designed. The patch uses both oscillators and most of the waveforms, with plenty of modulation to give it some extra analog vibe. The patch is called "Just Swell" and I think it sounds pretty cool. This is a really fun synth to design sounds on. It's super straightforward and there are lots of modulation options. I'm looking forward to exploring it in more depth.

The Volca Bass is used for two sounds here. Initially it plays a very staccato bassline, and later I switch on the sustain an it plays more off a gliding line that almost verges into lead territory.

I sat with this track for a long time, adding more and more stuff until I decided it worked better as a more stripped back arrangement. All of the individual parts ended up really simple, but I hope they play off each other to create something interesting. Let me know what you think!"

Dawless Techno Groovebox Jam | Novation Circuit Tracks & Rhythm

video upload by Underground Modulation

"🔥 DAWLESS Techno Groovebox Jam | Novation Circuit Tracks + Circuit Rhythm

In this video I perform a powerful dawless techno jam using a hardware-only setup built around Novation Circuit Tracks and Novation Circuit Rhythm.

This groovebox combo perfectly complements each other in a live performance workflow. Both Circuits handle rhythmic and melodic elements, creating a driving, layered techno sound:

🎛 Novation Circuit Tracks – synth parts, basslines, and groove structure
🥁 Novation Circuit Rhythm – drums, textures, and custom samples for unique character

Everything is sequenced directly on the hardware — no DAW during performance. This is a true live techno hardware jam.
The final master was processed in Ableton Live for clarity, punch, and balance."

This video contains raw sound examples only.
Direct audio recording.
Only a subtle external delay was added."

Sonicware ELZ_1 #synthesizer/looper - "SPACE:1979" #SONICWARE_Challenge

video upload by Robert Saint John

"It took some time to master the workflow of the ‪@SONICWARE‬ ELZ_1 Play synth, but it was absolutely worth it. The size is small, but the sound is big, and I couldn’t have had a better way to ride out the snowstorm this weekend.

Big shoutout to folks like ‪@ChrisLodyMusic‬ and ‪@nicafelt‬ whose videos and guides make the learning curve much easier, on top of Sonicware’s own excellent documentation.

Gerostrat - hacked siren - noise synth

"Gerostrat - шумовой синтезатор - игрушка для нойзера. Трещит и свистит, глитчит и гудит. :)

Все звуки кроме микрофонных с шумового синтезатора Gerostrat. Записаны в лупер октатрека и пропущены через его дисторшен.

Шумовой объект сделан мной в феврале 2026 года."

Googlish:

"Gerostrat is a noise synthesizer—a toy for noisers. It crackles and hisses, glitches and hums. :)

All sounds except the mics are from the Gerostrat noise synthesizer. Recorded in the octatrack looper and run through its distortion.

This noise object was made by me in February 2026.

NO CV INPUT? NO PROBLEM | ADDAC System - ADDAC320 Servo Control

video upload by DANIELE

"The ADDAC320 Servo Control by ADDAC System, a module that converts incoming CV into physical movement, allowing you to automate any knob that doesn’t have a CV input by mechanically turning it!"

0:00 Intro
0:22 How to set it up
1:30 Minimum and Maximum angle
1:48 Patch example

"At ADDAC we always admired the geniality of Neil Young’s Whizzer, way ahead of it’s time, a great example how great ingenuity and engineering can come together to make something great. Inspired by it’s motor controlled method we created a 4HP solution to control any knob that doesn’t have a CV input, while also possible to use for other gear as well (within certain distance constraints).

We use a Servo motor which is a specific type of motor that can be digitally controlled to go to a precise angle. This motor is controlled by a microcontroller that also receives an incoming CV voltage from 0 to +5v and lineary converts this voltage range to the 270 degree Servo motor range.

Using a spring wire and metal couplers the motor shaft is then attached to the target knob to be controlled which will turn as the Servo turns.

Two other knobs [MAXIMUM ANGLE] & [MINIMUM ANGLE] further allow to control the “sweet spot” of the target knob, setting a smaller Servo range.

Raising the [MIN ANGLE] knob above the [MAX ANGLE] knob inverts the Servo range.

We can't stress enough how important it is to read the whole User's Guide thoroughly for this one!"

WALK 4 | Just Sound Series | 5 patches

MultiVERSE - New Multiversal Shared System | NUSS Episode 05

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I got my MultiWAVE in december 2025, but got distracted by my January 2026 'musical holiday' and making the 'AI Survival Guide'. Meanwhile, MakeNoise has posted a wealth of videos and guides, and Red Means Jeremy did one of the best musical demos out there. There's no need to repeat any of those. I needed to do 'my own thing', but couldn't really figure out how this would look like.

My favorite modular will always remain the Shared System because this is what made me start modular in the first place, all the way back to 2018. The 'Shared' is my reference. So I wondered how MultiWAVE would sound as a shared guest and move my way to the full NUSS setup. NUSS is very much a new ecosystem and it's a bit 'closed' in the sense that you really need the combo of MultiWAVE, PoliMaths and the dual QXG to get started. Sure you can use them on their own (especially QXG) but you'd be in the unexplored territory of the MultiVERSE. However, this is where the happy accidents live. In the odd combinations and the bad patching.

So in this episode there's more noise than music. When the midi implementation firmware is available, this may change."
