video upload by batchas

"Afternoon session with Fenix II & III, Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-6, Waldorf Q.
To make it sound better I'd need to spend way more time on this patch, at least to mix the different voices properly, make a decent beat, play some notes by hand and so on, but I can't because of my health, so I'm posting this here and now."

Vintage Acetone Roland 70's Monophonic Analog Synthesizer

"To me it sounds a lot like an SH-1. Lots of bass, very cool pulse modulation capabilities... Pure monophonic analog goodness. A lot of simple usable options and features that make for basically just really a very fun and easy to program and play piece of hardware. Filters are sweet as (same as SH-1 I believe). All sliders, chips, oscillators, filters, pots, knobs and switches work 100% correctly as far as I can tell - definitely happy to make a sample video and/or have a test play on pickup though.

An interesting feature of this unit is the analog 1/4 TRS in. Basically you can pipe any mono audio source in, then use the great resonant analog filters on this machine to warm up/filter your signal. I used this feature a lot to warm up my digital synths, passing them via the Acetone filters.

There is also a TRS jack marked 'EXT. MODULATION'. I, nor anyone I could find online has been able to quite figure out how to utilize this yet though."

ACE TONE PS-1000 Vintage Analog Synth w/ Case

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Up for sale is Very Rare ACE TONE PS-1000 vintage analog monophonic synthesizer.

Ace Tone / Ace Electronics Industries was the predecessor to Roland, and it is said that PS-1000 monosynth was designed by the founder of Roland almost simultaneously to when Roland released the popular SH-3A.

The unit appears to be working fine, there are four damaged keys as pictured, but they are responding fine when you push the remaining part. Also the reset button on VCA-HOLD appears to be missing the top part of it, but the function itself is fine. Otherwise, everything else appears to be working well to the best of my knowledge, all the functions working fine as being tested.

Aside from the physical damages mentioned above the unit is in nice cosmetic condition, there are some wear and marks here and there but nothing too major. I'm including plenty of pictures so you can see exactly how it looks.

Comes in original Hard Case as shown.
Power cable included."

[caknobs] RhythmProducer FR-15's instructions (with CMU-810 FaderBoard)

YouTube Uploaded by Caknobs on Dec 30, 2011

"ACE TONE(日本ハモンド)が1975年に発売したリズムボックス『RhythmProducer〔FR-15〕』を使って作ったシステムです。音声アウトをサンプリングして使うのではなく、FR-15本体をスタートさせることでシステムを同期させて動かしたいという狙いがあって構築したものです。音声アウト出力を3分割し、分割した音声アウトによってRoland SBX-80などをSyncさせています。
Today's main machine is "ACE TONE RhythmProducer〔FR-15〕". This RhythmBox was born in 1975. This time, I made the system, without sampling FR-15's sound.

Mystery Rhythm / Drum Machine

Anyone ID this one?

via Daniel:

"I found and ad of an old drum machine for sale, but there is no logo or
hints to know what is this exactly.

seems it has got non-writable patterns, a tempo and a volume pot, and 5
buttons probably for mute the sounds.

does somebody know what is this model?"

Update via Lewis.72 in the comments: "The knobs look very similar to the ones on my Acetone FR-1. Other than that I've never seen this rhythm machine before... looks interesting."

Thelonious Moog

Dave M wrote in to let me know I haven't put up a post on Thelonious Moog. I did a quick search and sure enough, I haven't! Well, here it is. Title link takes you there. You will find a number of small but drool-worthy shots and the story behind the making of Thelonius Moog.

"The vintage analog synths used during this project are the key to these arrangements. Many of the stylings are a direct result or influenced by a particular synth sound or patch or rhythm. There are too many items to cover in depth, so I'll just touch on a few that were crucial to the sound of the disc.

A lot of the leads and most of the synth bass parts were done by the old standby Minimoog. A real no-brainer there. I would have to say the real "stars" were the RMI Keyboard Computer 1 (it gave its life for this recording – RIP, dear, sweet RMI, along with a Prophet Five that can actually be heard dying on Beshma Swing!), an Arp 2600, an EMS Synthi AKS, a pair of newly aquired Moog 900 series modulars, and a modular from a new analog synth company, Synthesizers.com. We also used a couple of extremely rare Buchla synths, the Music Easel, and a Series 100 modular. The goofy rhythms were supplied via an old Acetone beat box and something called a "drummer." I have to say that these pieces were the "stars," and we just played the melodies. The studio has many other traditional keyboards – piano/organs/clavinets and such – so we just threw the damn rulebook out that first night."
