A short while back I was working on quite a large-scale/major project that required copious quantities of noise; possibly the finest noise synth presently on the market (with the most diverse range of noise-based sounds) is the JMT UNVO-1. I contacted Tetsuji and asked him if he'd build me a custom/modified model, which is what you are seeing here.
Great instrument. Very powerful oscillators. I'll upload some videos demonstrating the 'noise' side of the UNVO-1 (in context with other instruments etc), but the included is possibly more accessible as a first listen/introduction to the instrument.
Tetsuji's instruments are quite impeccable - and his attention to detail is on another level. Granted, the uses of an instrument such as this are relatively limited, but if you're working on a noise-based sound design project, it is a no-brainer.
I asked Tetsuji to build the case in olive drab, as when used as a noise synth, it is distinctly reminiscent of an old military radio (pure noise through to squelch sounds etc). Tetsuji agreed that the aesthetic works well for the synth.
I also suggested he take some photos from during the build phase: he sent a few through, and I also have a selection of the innards that I took when the synth arrived. The sound input from the input is input to the drum synthesizer circuit with built-in filter when the EFEECT switch is turned on and hits the top of the main unit, or in response to the GATE / TRIGGER input from TRI IN, the sound is released from mute and set by SUSTAIN. It rises and sinks and disappears.
Since SWEEP is applied to the filter, the effect changes depending on the CUT OFF and RESONANCE knob settings. The effect is like a wah.
CV IN allows CV input to the filter.
The built-in function to convert GATE into an optimal signal for analog drum TRIGGER will respond correctly to both TRIGGER and GATE.
When inputting a piezo or drum pad trigger to TRIG IN, it is necessary to open the back cover and turn off the internal slide switch. In that case, the built-in piezo will be turned off and will not respond even if you hit the body.
When the EFFECT switch is turned OFF, the INPUT sound is bypassed to OUTPUT.
KD-2 runs on only DC9V negative center.
The signal from INPUT is mute while "effect" is on.And to tap the case or the external trigger from "TRI IN" make the signal sounds and turn dowm as the time setting by "SUSTAIN" level.
this cirucuit is from the analog synth drum with no oscillator but "INPUT".
"SWEEP" makes "wah"sound with "CUT OFF" and "RESONANCE".
CV IN is for VCF(band pass and low pass filter).

"All of the sounds and effects in this video were generated by the JMT Synths with some sequencing help from an Arturia Beatstep Pro. The LD-2 is JMT’s most full featured synthesizer with two oscillators, noise, screaming resonant lowpass filter and delay as well as tons of modulation oscillators and LFOs. The KD-1 and KD-2 gate an input signal with a percussive envelpe that can either be triggered with a pulse or a tap on the outside of the case, the KD-2 also has a sweepable filter. The ENVCO-1 is an envelope swept oscillator that can produce laser beams to vibrato to gabber kicks. The RVO-3 and DNVO-1 are noisy oscillators and the SRV-1 is a great sounding spring reverb.

:One is for "step 1" to "step 7".On the "REVERSE" mode,the switch is for "step 2" to "step 8".So the sign "1"of the switch means "step2"and "2" means "step 3"... on "REVERSE" mode.
The another rotary switch is for "step 8" to "step 15".("step 9" to "step 16" on "REVERSE MODE".
The switch among two rotary switches select them("1 to 7" or "8 to 15").
The 16 step switch is for one way 16 step.(down position is "ON")

16 gate switches are connected to EG and EG controls up and down of the volume of VCA.
With "EG LEVEL" = max and "GAIN" = minimum,EG fully effects to VCA.
"NOISE" and "OSC" go to VCO.1 and 2 with each switch.
LFO goes to VCF with "VCF" switch.
LFO effects to VCF on the left side position (about 12:00 to 7:00) of the 'CUT OFF FREQUENCY'."
