Using Every Feature To Advantage // Improvise and Resample Everything
video upload by EZBOT
"Join us in today's live stream as we delve into the world of experimental music creation with an entirely improvisational setup featuring the Lyra 8, Analog Rytm, and the Elektron Octatrack. We'll be harnessing the power of Euclidean sequencing and live remixing on the Octatrack to venture into uncharted sonic territories. Using the induvial outs on the Analog Rytm I can sidechain and post process my bass synthesizer in the Octatrack. In addition, I'll be sharing insights on how to utilize my latest Remix Performance Template designed specifically for the Octatrack. If you're passionate about pushing the boundaries of electronic music and exploring new horizons in sound, this is a stream you won't want to miss. Get ready for an immersive journey into the art of live improvisation and cutting-edge electronic music production. BRiES Nontemporary Toolkit / LYRATE for Decent Sampler
video upload by BRiES
"To download or find out more about the LYRATE plugin pack, visit the Decent Samples webshop: http://www.decentsamples.com
Inspired by the leftfield Lyra 8 instrument by Soma Labs LYRATE offers an unusual interface that enables harmonic (and dissonant) experimentation with a broad set of soundsources. Just like with the SYNTHS one plugin pack I wanted to provide the means to make complex and cinematic sounds yourself. To make this pack I didn’t sample a real Lyra 8, instead I recorded several other (hardware) synths including modular VCOs and a vintage Korg MS20. The core feature of Lyra 8 (i.e. being able to tune and tweak the individual voices) is what excited me to create these virtual instruments."

Mellow Sunday | Mellotron Micro + Soma Cosmos
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"I recorded four jams today. Four. This one was the best, so I'll post this one. So now I have a few 'backups' which makes it easier to relax when there's a 'writers block' day. #jamuary2024 is not limited to modulars so today I decided to use one of my favorite creative combo's, the vintage Mellotron and the 21st century Soma Cosmos. I am using the R1.5 'rhythmic firmware' which is basically a looper. It has 7 modes with different timings and pitch shifts. There are three additional modes with delay, verb and grains from the original firmware. There are two versions, one with drive, and one with drive remapped to pitch shift. I always want to bring an orchestra to a gig, but leave the VST laptop at home. Mellotron is a perfect machine to add polyphonic samples while keeping the 1960's vibe and it's great to process with a modular synth. Happy Sunday!"

A synth design masterclass by SOMA SYNTHS Vlad Kreimer.
video upload by mylarmelodies
"In this talk, Soma's Vlad Kreimer explains the unique difference behind 'organismic' synths like the Lyra-8 or Terra vs. everything else. He also explains how other synth brands could be more organismic - and why they may want to be. I believe ideas in this can inspire synth designers as well as anyone designing modular patches..."

SOMA Terra // What are all those blobs?
video upload by Starsky Carr
"A look at how the interface on the SOMA Terra works. It looks completely impenetrable, and that's because it is! Nothing to penetrate here.. just fiddle and go.. and therein lies the beauty! There are 32 sound engines which can interact with the buttons in different ways.
You've got 12 blobs for tuning, 4 blobs for 'macros' and a few knobs and buttons for selecting parameter and so on. From sublime to ear-drilling mayhem in a few moments. It's the sort of thing you want to spend hours and hours playing.
A FESTIVE GIFT for VERY loved one (i.e. buy it for yourself!.. yours...elf - it's Christmas after all.)

SOMA Labs Introduces METACONFORMER Modular MIDI Processor
demo video upload by Vlad Kreimer
"Metaconformer is a modular MIDI processor designed to expand the capabilities of musical instruments and to simplify the interaction between a musician and their MIDI instruments. It offers new ways of playing music through innovative and groundbreaking MIDI message routing capabilities between multiple instruments.
The MIDI protocol is an efficient engineering solution used reliably for decades by musicians. However, in many situations it does not take into account the musical context, which is essential for the artist. Metaconformer changes this. Located between the MIDI controller and your instruments, it coordinates human ideas with the language of hardware.
Metaconformer’s capabilities provide new ways of playing instruments, by combining MIDI instruments and exploring their interaction . You will be able to play multiple instruments at the same time as if they were part of one larger instrument. Metaconformer also opens up the possibility of sound control through pressing the keys on your MIDI keyboard, instead of having to reach for the knobs on your gear. This will allow you to discover and unlock new facets and possibilities of your favorite instruments!
The idea behind the Metaconformer is to give musicians a new way of looking at their instruments and what else they can do with a little creativity in MIDI.
SOMA is closely related to the idea of organismic synthesizers . Each of our instruments aims to give the musician the experience of interacting with a system in which several independent modules can influence each other and create more than the sum of its parts.
Metaconformer is no exception. It breaks down at least two barriers that have stood in the way of all MIDI musicians for decades. It establishes a dialogue between different instruments, breaking the barrier of parallel universes of MIDI channels. And Metaconformer also allows you to enter the values of synthesis parameters not by turning knobs on your synths, but by pressing keys on your MIDI keyboard, breaking the barrier of the one- dimensional universe of notes and creating a multi-dimensional universe of parametric chords."

3am - mote
video upload by justin3am
"I colored outside the lines a bit on this one. Clipping, messy.
Some weird acid vibes but mostly just weird.
I got this old Boss mixer with banana jacks for $5. Still figuring out gain staging, lol. Interesting flaws, but I think it works well for this kind of thing."

Ornament 8 | Episode 01 | Patching Errors (featuring Error Instruments Cloud Busting)
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"Ornament-8 is an organismic sequencer that's completely, I mean totally, different from any sequencer I know. I am starting this video with zero knowledge and at some point I just gave up. So welcome to episode 01! This episode is called 'patching errors' . After failing miserably with Pulsar-23, I wanted to find out if Ornament-8 would be able to sequence Error Instruments' Cloud Busting - which has pins. It worked very well and it's been a lot of fun."
