SERGE Modular INORI & TKB // First study on the use as a synthetic clarinet

video upload by Dexba

"Little snippet of my first exploration of the Pressure output from the Touch Activated Keyboard Sequencer (or TKB) and the INORI sound module, both from Random Source.
I am using the filter as a VCA, running one oscillator through the legendary Wave Multiplier (the middle one), while using the top one as a VCA for the vibrato amount, given by the second oscillator used as an LFO.
Very simple patch, I just wanted to practice the feeling of the keyboard itself, tuned to a hirajōshi scale."

SERGE Modular Synthesizer MANTRA II Panel

video upload by fonitronik

"Sitting at the garden table playing the SERGE Modular/R*S MANTRA II panel. It is great what one can do with just one panel. One of the great things of the new slopes (GTO, GTS) is that they are VERY stable. And everything is exactly in tune after turning it on again after a few days. You will love it."

Many things the Serge SSG can do

video upload by Stazma

"It's been a while I wanted to do a proper video on the SSG module. It's one of the most crazy patch programmable monster in the Serge system (with the DUSG) and even tho it's been upgraded as the GTO now, I'm sure many are still going to be interested in a deep dive into this more primitive version of the circuit.

Have fun!"

Serge VC Resonant EQ for Eurorack

video upload by Serge Modular | Random*Source

"The legendary Serge Resonant EQ now with voltage control over each band - for #eurorack."

SERGE VC RESONANT EQ - A CLASSIC RELOADED

The legendary Serge Resonant EQ is a filterbank with ten bands, designed for electronic sound synthesis and processing, providing formant peaks and valleys similar to those found in acoustic instruments. It is one of the most unique sounding modules with an enormous spectral range. For the VC version, voltage control over each individual band has been added - an attenuverter (CV processor) allows to determine exactly whether the CV applied shall emphasize or decrease each filter band. Each band now also has an individual output.
The CV inputs can also be abused to feed audio signals - e.g. form an external oscillar or one of the individual outputs - into the system.
The eurorack version adds a two-channel mixer with attenuators and a Feedback section which allows to feed back the output signal. A powerful tool for sound processing but also for sound creation!
There are three equalized outputs: the two Comb outputs provide the sums of the two alternate filter bands while the two top outputs are the mix of all filter bands. Please note that there is no sharp separation between the bands, moving any frequency knob will have an influence on both Comb outputs.

TMP-2-06 Vintage Synth TV Series from Benge

"Episode six of the second series of the TV program from Benge, made at his Memetune Electronic Music Studio, and the final episode of the season

The series explores his passion for vintage synthesiser instruments and studio gear and how he uses it on his productions and collaborations

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

It is divided into the following sections:

LITTLE BLACK BOXES - A look at some classic rack mount synths of the 80s and 90s

SWITCHED ON - This second series looks at a type of synthesis based around the ideas of Cybernetics, which Benge calls CYBERSYNTHESIS

SYNTHESISER CLUB - A short musical demonstration of a synthesiser classic or three

COMMERCIAL BREAK - Some shameless Memetune shilling

PATCHING TODAY - A deep-dive into vintage modular systems and how to set up a patch on them, starting from scratch

VIDEO LAB - A look at old video equipment and how to create experimental visuals

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

In THIS episode:

LITTLE BLACK BOXES - The Kawai k1m was a small desktop version of the K1 layer synth, introduced in 1988. Today I sequence it from an Atari ST running C-Lab Notator

SWITCHED ON CYBERSYNTHS - Patching it all together: after a brief section on quantising both pitch and time, I attempt to patch together all of the Memetune modulars (12 vintage systems!) in a giant Cybersynthesis monster patch

SYNTHESISER CLUB - Today, its more Yamahas, including a QX1 sequencer, RX5 drum machine, TQ5 FM synth module, REX50 multi FX, SY85 layer synth and a MT1X 4-multi-track cassette recorder

COMMERCIAL BREAK - Some adverts for Memetune related goodies, including the new Memetune Annual 2024 (sort of😁)

PATCHING TODAY - Taking the wonky Roland System 100 for a ride

VIDEO LAB - In this episode we take the meme-mobile for a spin!

VCO2 - First Sounds | Low-Gain Electronics - 4U Modular Serge

video upload by LowGainElectronics

"Prototype type boards came in and I couldn’t resist building one up at the end of the day. A board rev needs to be made. I completely forgot to condition the newly added Saw and Double Saw (DUO) outputs so they are 0-5V and not +/-5V. But you can get some really fun wave shapes including square when you mix them in an external processor (a crossfader would be a fun pairing for sure! Also need to tweak the FM input. It’s a little weak."

SERGE GTS (for eurorack) - Waveforms

video upload by Serge Modular | Random*Source

"How does a slope generator sound? Here two Serge GTS are used as a Complex oscillator that is run into a Variable Slope filter (VCFS), playing a simple MIDI loop via 1V/Oct. Single patch, just playing with a few knobs...

The Serge GTS is a complete redesign of the famous Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator (DUSG) by Serge himself - with a new core, optimized for speed and tracking. Like some of the clones it can be used for CV, but provides exceptional audio performance: transient rise times as fast as 12µs and a maximum cycle speed of 28kHz."

ESK - 3x MI Braids + Sequencer 2

video upload by Metunar

"Another sequence with 3 Mutable Instruments Braids Oscillators. This time also with a Doepfer WASP filter and some other modulations.
I used a delay effect from the Roland Torcido modul and the sequence is from the Serge Touch Activated Keyboard Sequencer.

BAF 2024 - Prism Circuits - Quasar System

video upload by sonicstate

"At Buchla And Friends 2024, we met up with Nick from Prism Circuits who showed us their new Serge-based Quasar modular system. The system is based on the 4U standard, making it larger than Eurorack and it draws inspiration from the early electronic music circuits created by composer Serge Tcherepnin in the 1970s. The goal was to create an affordable modular synthesizer that could be customized based on individual preferences.

The Quasar system is designed for improvisation and live performances, and features a unique hieroglyphic language developed by Serge, with symbols representing different functions and outputs. Nick explained one advantage of the Prism Circuits system over Eurorack is its standardized grid format, making it convenient to navigate and locate modules quickly.

Prism Circuit's modules are handmade in the United States, using through-hole components and ensuring each instrument is crafted with care and longevity in mind, and typically cost around $2,500 per panel, but prices may vary depending on the components included."
