"Erica Synths-Pico System 2 Patch 2.
The Erica Synths Pico System II is the world’s smallest modular synthesizer of its functionality, same as the Pico System I. However, as there have been several additions to the Pico Series, for example, the significant Pico Voice, its upgrade the Pico System to make it even more multifarious. There are two new modules in the system: the Pico Voice – a sound source, which gives quite a big timbral diversity, and the Pico Modulator, which replaces the Pico EG and the Pico VCA. That gives us a 3HP free space have filled with one more Pico A MIX for more handy control of the sound sources in live performances."

Erica Synths Pico Envelope Follower (EF) & PICO VCA2

"Pico EF is Erica Synths take on envelope follower module in 3hp! Pico EF features a preamp with +40dB gain, envelope output with adjustable attack time and a gate output with adjustable threshold. The Pico EF can be used as a preamp, overdrive unit or for controlling VCFs with audio signal, or to use with external instruments to control your modular system in other creative and experimental applications.

Timeline:

00:00​ Patch 1 "EF to LPG offset"
Using envelope generated from the breakbeat to modulate the LPG offset and extracted gate to trigger the bass sound.

01:14​ Patch 2 "Side-chain"
Creating side-chain compressor like effect by extracting the envelope from Bassdrum and then inverting it with Pico Scale and then applying it to the VCA through which the hi-hats from the Pico Drums 2 are sent

02:04​ Patch 3 "EF to LPG offset"
Similar to the Patch 1 but in this case using the extracted gate to trigger the LPG internal decay envelope

02:27​ Patch 4 "Bass guitar opening VCA"
Bass guitar is plugged directly into the Pico EF and then extracted envelope from the audio signal is used to open the Pico VCA through which a sequenced melody from Pico Voice is sent

03:21​ Patch 5a "FM to LPG & triggers 1"
Audio signal from FM radio is used to change the LPG offset and extracted gates are used to trigger sliced breakbeat on the Sample Drum

03:52​ Patch 5b "FM to LPG & triggers 2"
Similar setup as in Patch 5a, but instead of triggering slices extracted gates are used to trigger randomly selected samples

04:32​ Patch 6 "EF as Distortion"
Using Pico EF as distortion module by adding a lot of gain to the Bassdrum module

05:10​ Patch 7 "Bass to Plasma Drive & LPG"
Using Pico EF to amplify bass guitar which is after that send into the Plasma Drive which is afterwards set through the Pico LPG which offset is modulated by the envelope generated from the bass guitars audio"

Pico EF is Erica Synths take on envelope follower module in 3hp! Pico EF features a preamp with +40dB gain (enough to boost even guitar and dynamic microphone signals for use in a modular system), envelope output with adjustable attack time and a gate output with adjustable threshold. The Erica Synths Pico VCA2 is a compact voltage controlled amplifier module, based on reliable AS3330 chip. It features two independent channels, and the first one comes with the manual offset adjustment, useful for full span vibrato effects. Audio and CV inputs of the first VCA are normalised to the second one, so the module can also be used as a buffered audio splitter. VCAs are DC coupled, and they can be used for controlling amplitude of control voltage signals.

Erica Synths Pico series is expanding! Four new modules have joined this line: Pico SEQS, Pico Logic, Pico A Logic and Pico DSP. Price range is from 70€ to 120€!

Pico SEQS is an advanced 4 channel sequential switch with sophisticated control over switching the channels – it combines clock and/or CV signals to advance to next step and define number of steps. Use it for switching CVs or audio sources in order to achieve distinct modulations and soundscapes!

 Simultaneous switches ON - 1
 CV control over sequence direction and length
 External clock input
 Chanel status indication LEDs

Pico LOGIC is Boolean logic module that allows to manage several Gate signals in advanced ways. As per Pico design concept, we managed to squeeze 2x8 logic algorithms in just 3HP module!

Main features:
 2 independent sections of 2xIN and OUT
 8 logic algorithms in each sections
 Internal connection of inputs of both sections
 Mode indication via RGB LEDs
 Output signal status LEDs

The third one is Pico A LOGIC – our CERN Hadron Collider for CVs! It takes two incoming CVs and outputs momentary SUM and DIFFERENCE of both CVs, as well as follows curves MAXIMUM and MINIMUM values of both CVs. Try to patch audio signals into both inputs and get distinct ringmodulation and waveshaping effects!

"Hi Folks.

this time the powerful analog filter Vertice from Euterpe Synthesizer Laboratories is here and I have a demo movie with it.

It is an analog filterbank with a filter envelope and CV inputs for modulation.

In this Acid sound I used the new analog VCO GR11 from ReBach, it is a Dutch new producer of eurorack modules, but I like this VCO and I wanted to combine it here because both sounds great.

later I added some delay from Erica Synths PICO DSP module.

Kick is a Vermona twinCUSSION double drum module, the clap comes from PICO DRUMS from Erica Synths.

the rest you can hear, added a little envelope filter for filtering, here it worked similar to LFO, then some more resonances and delay and without delay.

54HP Episode 3: Incessant Noodler

"In episode 3 of 54HP we put together a generative ambient system called the “Incessant Noodler” which will just keep playing droney ambient music for as long as you let it. It has a few random voltage generators to create sequences and modulation, then a powerful quantizer with built in shift register will convert those random voltages into a scale. For generating sounds the Noodler has an analog and a digital VCO and envelope with built in VCA. To make everything sound more ambient there are two effects units with multiple types of delays and reverbs to create a wash of sounds from your generative sequence.

Well - a lot when you know your modules !!!
I have a small movie with the modul Erica Synths PICO VOICE in one of 8 modes of synthesis in it and exactly KARPLUS STRONG !!!
PICO VOICE has been patched with the trigger for S&H and later to the main clock with sequencer 1v / oct, added a little NOISE BURST and DISTORTION built in it !!!
the next step is to add the PICO DSP module and create space with REVERB.
Drums come from the PICO DRUMS I modules and are plugged into the PICO TRIGG trigger.
in 2 minutes it shows this simple connection in music !!!

I have a brand new movie with Pico System 2 from Erica Synths and I always show it solo because I think it's a powerful tool.
check myself how I used the delay from the PICO DSP module with a oscillator PICO RND-random module and kick plus and stick from PICO Drums later a slight addition of resonance in Pico VCF1 Polivoks filter .
very fast, very good-looking, nice music space for which of course the system is praiseworthy.
if you are looking for something to start with modular - you just have it, but also many advanced users can afford large and interesting patches.
getting great colors is easy here when you have in such a small box of up to 14 modules.
check out my other films also with Pico System 2 solo, then you'll see how much he can do.

Let me introduce you to Erica Synth Pico Voice module- a versatile sound source just in 3HP, as well for all the tube fans we have launched a new version for Fusion VCF and Fusion VCA.

Erica Pico Voice is amazingly versatile sound source just in 3HP. It features 8 sound generation algorithms: Karplus Strong, Chords, Wavetable, TB303 bassline emulation, PWM, Supersaw, Wavefold and Harmonic saturation, with three adjustable parameters per algorithm and CV control over one user defined parameter. Despite the small size, Pico Voice sounds bigger than it is!

24dB/12dB Fusion VCF v2 is our take on the four pole lowpass filters. Each side of double triode drives signal between 2nd and 3rd stage of the filter, while germanium diodes are used to limit output signal. Result ultimately deep sounding VCF with unique character. Ingenious resonance volume compensation circuit and filter slope selection make this filter ideal for live performances.
