Roland Juno-106 with Blue LEDs, Display and Bender

via this auction

"The first "BLUE MEANIE MOD" from the Synth Spa. This Juno 106 is in perfect working order and the voice chips are guaranteed for as long as you own the board! Yes the voice and wave chips have been completely restored. This is an auction for an actual working keyboard, it is not a sale for a modification, it's the whole shaaa-bang.! I should also stress that the body and cosmetics of the keyboard are 10 / 10!

Here are some finer details;

- All light blue buttons and fader caps are now dark blue.
- The side rails are now solid maple , the first, professionally painted to match the new faders and caps. The second is natural solid maple with a unique design.
- This particular design is patent-pending, with it's own serial number. You'll receive a certificate of owner ship.
- The bender is now a semi-transparent blue plexi-glass bender, with blue leds shining from below.
- The older volume and pornamento control knobs have been replaced with knobs that fit the design; blue caps and a white stripe down the side.

It is a work of ART. The stage effect is beautiful. A head turner for sure! and it's a lot of fun!"

video upload by Painted Blue

"Super duper amateur demonstration of a early 1980s era analog drum machine is a super sweet blue.

There's another slightly more advanced gray version under the same name that LookMumNoComputer/THIS MUSEUM IS (NOT) OBSOLETE covered: [posted here] But it doesn't look half way as sweet.

I uploaded a high res scan of the box and instruction manual here: https://archive.org/details/sound-mas..."

Roland Juno-60 with Blue LEDs, Display and Bender

via this auction
"Here are some finer details;
- The side rails are now solid maple , the first, professionally painted a very nice dark blue. The second is natural solid maple with a unique design.
- This particular design is patent-pending, with it's own serial number. You'll receive a certificate of owner ship.
- The bender is now a semi-transparent blue plexi-glass bender, with blue leds shining from below.
- You'll have a choice of stains for the sides, a few different versions will be posted in a few days.! I happen to really like this one, but some of my friends say it should be darker to look more retro. I'll let you decide!
- It also has had a full panel board rebuild. So every slider and button functions as if it were brand new.
- The keys have also been cleaned and respond like new as well.
- I have also loaded the best patches so you won't have to go looking around or try to program too many of your own. (even though that can be fun... it's ready to go!)

It is a work of ART. The stage effect is beautiful. A head turner for sure! and it's a lot of fun!"

Rare AMSTARD CKX100 Glitch Synthesizer By Dave Squidfanny

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

Prior videos here and here.

"The Amstrad CKX100 is a rare digital artefact from the late 1980's made by home computer manufacturers Amstard. It has a distinctive lo-fi sound and uses WAVETABLE synthesis to produce a warm, pleasing and ultra-harmonic sound which is quirky and very unique.

The CKX100 has grainy Digital Drums with preset Rhythms & Accompanyment, Electronic Sounding Instruments & Lush Chord with some very useful 'Computer Aided Harmony' Features (similar to the OMNICHORD).

In addition to it's very likable sound, the machine has a simple 'Play & Record' sequencer and a 'tape save' function for storing recorded data on a cassette tape (remember those?). It also has a MIDI output which allows the Keys, and the Computer Chord functions to control other MIDI gear.

Of course the real power of the CKX100 is only revealed after some serious Circuit Bending.......

Needless to say, various new circuitry and dynamic new features have been added to the the CKX100 to upgrade it's sonic capabilities well beyond what was imagined by the original engineers.

This machine works perfectly and can be used 'as stock' if required.

Internal Speakers have been removed and replaced with a stunning array of new Custom Knobs, Switches, Buttons and Flashing Lights. New Controls are mounted of beautiful Green PCB (circuit board), and adorned with Shiney Metal Pieces, Round Washers and a Black Metal Cog.

Glitch-Punk Style......
Metallic Keys are professionally painted in various shades and multiple colours of top quality Metallic Paint. The paintwork has been performed with a speckled effect on the white keys in multiple shades of Titanium, Green & Blue. Black Keys are now Gold.
Paintwork is sealed with high quality gloss lacquer to protect the finnish.

Obviously the machine looks fantastic, but the real power is in the stunning array of unique sounds which this Amstrad is now able to produce. The machine's Ultra-Harmonic WAVETABLE synthesis engine creates a warm, pleasing sound, which when combined with the array of Digital & Glitch Mods, produces distinctly electronic tones which range from dreamy Psycedellic to Sinister darkside, and from 'Aphex' style beat juggling to insane Glitch & Dischord and eventually going way beyond the realms of conventional synthesizers, and often beyond description. This is the power of Glitch...

The new Knobs / Switches / Buttons & Lights are mounted on Thick Green PCB (circuit board), and the Flashing LED Lights above are mounted on a Rusty Matel Piece with Chrome LED Holders.

The Mods are activated and controlled by an assortment of Rotary Switches, Metal Toggle Switches and Push buttons -

Large Rotary Knob - On the right of the panel is a large Silver Rotary Knob, with a toggle Switch below it and a Bi-colour LED Light in a chrome bezel. This knob contains 22 flavours of Digital Ring Mods, Weird Distortion, Digital Filtering and Frequency Oscillation. Use the (on/off/on) Toggle Switch to activate the sounds, the LED light will Glow Red/Green to indicate that the mod is active.

Small Rotary Knob - In the centre of the panel is a small silver Rotary Knob, along with a Toggle Switch and a Blue LED Light in a Chrome Bezel. This knob contains 9 x Instrument / Chord Glitches which provide Beuatiful Complex Arpeggios, Strange Echos, Luch Chords and Extrended Envelope Effects. Use the Toggle Switch to activate the mod. The Blue LED Light will Glow to indicate the mod being active.

6 x Glitch Switches on the left of the panel - Use these switches on the Chord / Accompanyment for Dark Electronic Techno-esque rhythm Accompanyment and de-tuned chords. Use with the drums for weird pitch shifting and drum shifting Rhythmic effects.
Glitch Buttons - Scramble the Digital Circuits with dramatic sonic results. . . Use with the drums for Granular Effects and Grinding 'Aphex' Style Rolls. Use with the Chord / Instrument to generate Chorded Drones, Digital Noise, Instrument/Drum Cross Modulation & General Havok and Glitch Chaos.....

RESET BUTTON - Small Green Button below the right corner of the panel is used to Instantly reset Glitched sound back to it's normal state. This button allows the user to completely Scramble, Mangle & Corrupt the audio beyond recognition, and then instantly return the sound again.

Flashing Lights - 3 x Flashing LED Lights above the panel will pulse and flash along with the sound. The lights are housed in chrome bezels and mounted on a rusty piece of engineered metal..... Modern LED's are used, the colours are BLUE, WHITE & GREEN. The White LED also indicates the instrument's Vibrato when active."

black korg poly 800 II synthesizer keytar blue l.e.d.s

via this auction

"All buttons and the pitch bender/joystick work perfect. The synthesizer has guitar pegs and guitar strap and can be run off C batteries and used as a keytar. Keys have been modified and painted black with blue l.e.d.'s under the keys to give it a really cool polished look. The l.e.d.'s kinda give the keys a blue backlit look. You will look awesome with this on stage or it would look great in a studio."

ANALOG SYNTH SID 8580

more images

"This is a hand made Analog Synth with SID 8580 as the sound engine. It has a 2x16 Blue LCD, RED LED power and BLUE & ULTRAVIOLET midi in indicator LED's. There are (6) BIG GREEN ARCADE Buttons to select menu functions. There is also an extra GREEN BIG SID MENU SELECT BUTTON on the side. It is the same function as the small gray one on the front. There are midi in and outs on this unit.

_it has blue, ULTRAVIOLET and red LED's
-this version has artwork on front panel
-All internal wiring is CAT5 and hot glued down at the solder locations to survive a very long lifespan
-the front and back panels are very thick clear and Transparent RED plexiglass.
-12v AC power adapter is included (WALLWART)
-It can be edited via CC midi messaging.

This item was a prototype I had for about a month, that is why it is 'Used'. I was going to keep it for myself because of the Rare 8580 SID chip but i have decided to let it go. The wood is painted C64 case color. The bottom has a few scratch marks on the wood. You can't see them unless you lift the unit up and take a close look.

The difference between the 8580 chip and 6581 is that the 8580 sound more musical and has more clarity. The resonance is also a bit more defined.

Here is the myspace link to here a demo of what it is capable of: It was mixed down in CUBASESX. The demo's here however re from a 6581, i haven't had the time to record the 8580.

All songs are 100% SID only, the first song only has VOCODED INTRO."

Not fully analog. More info on the SID chip here.

Baby Blue Circuit Bent Synth with Keyboard

via this auction
"here is "Baby Blue".....designed with the details and looks of the classics, but in one micro package...... measuring 12" across, by 9" wide, and 6" high, this unit is compact but big on functions.....it was quite the challenge to bring together five separate circuits, switching, patch bay, and a fully functional 23 key toy piano together....the result is a one of kind synthesizer that cannot [can?] produce some awesome sounds....best of all you can feed your other bends/guitar/bass/keyboard into the patch bay for some sick sounds!!!....this thing will surely turn some heads!

check out the hardware:
-the chassis is built from solid select pine wood, it has been sanded to an extremely smooth finish , and stained with a hand rubbed mid walnut finish...all joints have been glued/brad nailed/puttied for superior strength....
-the control plates are all metal.....galvanized steel on the angular control panel, aluminum side control panels...each panel has been hand painted baby blue with a tough enamel.....all hardware screws are stainless steel.....
-the unit is built with the highest quality parts.....there are 9 enclosed switchcraft jacks in the patch bay, each with stainless steel jack nuts....8 micro alps toggle switches.....2 micro momentary push button switches..... a mix of 6 bournes/alpha potentiometers.....6 vintage styled knobs with aluminum inserts...and 6 3mm yellow LED's......
-there are four handbuilt analog circuits and two bent digital circuits.....each has been built or bent with silver solder, for the best signal transfer and solder point strength....

here are the unit's details:
the unit is comprised of a fuzz circuit, a 20 second sampler, a pulse effect/LFO, and a notch filter....each effect can be patched together (in a number of different arrangements) to produce some wild tones and effects.....patch bay order or arrangement will impact the overall sound many different ways.....each effect can be used seperately or in conjunction with one another, as each effect has an ON or BYPASS mode, meaning you can leave it entirely patched up, turning each effect on or off with out having to switch cords around or interrupt the sound.....very cool.....

controls are such:
FUZZ: IN/OUT on the patchbay, toggle ON/BYPASS, and a knob for THICKNESS/GAIN/WEIRD RESULTS
LOOPER/SAMPLER: IN/OUT on patchbay, toggle LOOP/SINGLE, a toggle for STORE/OVERWRITE SAMPLE, a toggle for RECORD HOLD, a pushbutton for SINGLE PLAY, a pushbutton for MOMENTARY RECORD, and a knob for LOOP RATE, loop duration is interval ON/OFF/ON
KEYBOARD: OUT on patchbay, toggle ON/OFF, VOLUME/GAIN/WEIRD RESULTS knob, and a MASTER PITCH knob, witch will bring you from crushing lows to earsplitting highs
PULSE/LFO: interchangeable but different sounding IN/OUT on the patchbay, toggle ON/BYPASS, a knob for RATE which will produce slow throbs in lower settings and speedy staccatos, well into to a blended LFO
NOTCH FILTER: IN/OUT on the patch bay, toggle ON/BYPASS and FILTER toggle, and a knob for FREQUENCY SWEEP" vids here

George Harrison & His Moog Modular - Zapple & Electronic Sound

via the Beatle Photo Blog.

via Wikipedia: "Electronic Sound is George Harrison's second album. Released in May 1969, it was the second and final record released on the Beatles' short-lived Zapple Records label, a subsidiary of Apple Records. The album features two lengthy pieces performed on the Moog synthesizer. It was one of the first albums to make exclusive use of the instrument.

Zapple was intended as a creative outlet for avant-garde musical works. Not long after the release of this album The Zapple label was folded at the insistence of the Beatles' then-manager Allen Klein. Because of its experimental and highly non-commercial nature, Electronic Sound failed to chart in the United Kingdom, and barely made the United States Billboard 200 album chart, peaking at #191.

The album was issued on CD for the first time in late 1996. CD versions of the album have the recordings (but not the titles) in the wrong order. In recent years this error has led many listeners to confuse the two tracks.

The track on LP side one "Under The Mersey Wall" (25 minutes) begins with a series of gunshot-like sounds and appears to be a performance of a single Moog instrument, though often making use of tape delay and echo effects. Portions of white noise from this track are used throughout "I Remember Jeep," one of several jams included on Harrison's third solo album, All Things Must Pass, released in 1970.

The second LP side "No Time Or Space" (18 minutes) uses the sound of two Moog instruments playing at the same time, an effect made possible through the use of overdubbing.

The cover of Electronic Sound was painted by Harrison himself. The inside sleeve included minimal notes on the album and a quotation attributed to Arthur Wax: "There are a lot of people around, making a lot of noise; here's some more."

Synthesist Bernie Krause later pursued legal action against Harrison, claiming that "No Time Or Space" (side two of the original vinyl album; track one of the CD) was essentially a recording of him demonstrating the Moog III to Harrison (this is detailed in Krause's book Into a Wild Sanctuary). Krause also claimed that the demonstration was recorded without his knowledge or consent. Krause's name was originally credited on the front cover under Harrison's cover credit, but it was painted over at his insistence. Despite this, the words "Assisted by Bernie Krause" can still be read from under the silver ink on the original LP pressings.

The words "Produced by George Harrison" appear on front cover of the original LP pressings printed in light blue ink, but were recolored in dark blue and red on later re-issues.

Track listing

All pieces credited to George Harrison.

Side one

"Under the Mersey Wall" – 25:10
Recorded in Esher, England, in February 1969 with the assistance of Rupert and Jostick, the Siamese Twins

Side two

"No Time or Space" – 18:41
Recorded in California in November 1968 with the assistance of Bernie Krause

Note: This is how the titles appear on the original LP pressings. Later CD versions incorrectly switched the actual order of the recordings and the timings but failed to switch the titles."

Ham Heart Analog Synth Noise Box W/ LFO & Filter

via this auction
"This is a handmade hamheart featherduster, 100% analog noisemaker.

It features 5 squarewave oscillators, with 4 acting as an frequency modulating LFOs. As well as a lowpass filter

The 4 LFO's are scaled in their frequency ranges so that the rightmost LFO has a larger upper limit and the leftmost LFO has a larger lower limit. Anything from packs of angry badgers to pods of harpooned whales right on through swarms of drunken wasps and mosquitoes can be achieved. The main audio oscillator has a frequency range switch, which spans from nearly ultrasonic high end down to rhythmic beeps and clicks on the low side.

There is also a modulation depth control allowing for subtle pitch modulations and/or complete clangorous metallics.

The filter is a simple low pass design, and works wonders as a tone shaper.

The blue LED displays the rate of the audio oscillator and changes as you sweep the pitch.

The controls:

The 4 large knobs along the top are the LFO frequency controls.
The large knob in the right hand column is the main audio oscillators frequency control.
The large knob in the left hand column is the modulation depth control.
The small knob in the bottom left is the low pass filter cutoff control.
The small knob in the bottom right is the master volume control.

The leftmost toggle switch turns the filter on/off.
The center toggle switch selects between fine/coarse frequency.
The rightmost toggle switch selects the audio oscillators frequency range.

6.35mm (1/4 inch) audio output
2.1mm 9v DC input (tip -)
Rubber feet

Metal faceplate, painted navy blue.
Hand painted masonic values hamheart logo.

Custom Slim Phatty

via Jason who brought us The Meyermoog custom Minimax ASB. Jason plays in Talking Mountain. You can find their latest release here and their latest video here.

"I wanted to write in again and show off the custom Slim Phatty I just built. The Little Phatty is great, but I wanted to build a tiny bass/lead synth. Nearly the same process as before.. Slim Phatty is the brains, an Alesis Q25 is the controller. The Q25 is hardwired for power into the Slim Phatty because I didn't want two power cords to worry about (totally nerve wracking to open it up and start soldering, huge thanks to Rosser at Moog Music for some quick pointers). I don't mind having the MIDI cable linking the two, so I didn't hardwire it. It's currently built out of Birch plywood and painted weird, but I'd like to rebuild it out of walnut whenever I get around to it. I'm considering making a built-to-order kit where you would just supply your own Phatty, but I'm trying to gauge interest first. Here's a few photos of the process and the completed synth."

See below for a sky blue painted version.

WALDORF MICROWAVE 1 Rev A

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"WALDORF MICROWAVE 1 Rev A... with CEM 3389 and OS 2.0..."

via the Waldorf-User FAQ:

"Q: What different microwave I versions are known?

A: Rev A:
- frontpanel dark metalic blue, not painted, anodized metal
- rotary encoder has 52 ticks per revolution, has rippled, metal shaft with slot
- uses Curtis CEM 3389
- LCD has black characters on green background
- case is black

Rev B:
- frontpanel is made from Nextel, gray-blue, silkscreening blurry, rubs off
- high quality red dial
- rotary encoder has 24 ticks per revolution, has even, flattened plastic shaft
- uses Curtis CEM 3387
- LCD has green characters on black background
- case is grey

I assume that the change from Rev A to Rev B was not done by a step-function, so
there could be mixtures of all the attributes...

sonically they are nearly the same. The change of the filter didn't changed the microWave sound that much. And although the older version used the same Curtis filter chip as the big Waldorf WAVE, the sound is totally different.

There is also a single microWave with a chrome front plate (and a spare front plate like this in the hands of an ex-Waldorf employee). And the 99 last microWaves build came named "the mean green machine" with a green front plate and some spikes to put the unit on the shelf. Also included was a document in the look of a contract. It said you are not allowed to play folk music and that you have to feed the mean green MW I with all available software upgrades."
