New GRP V22 VOCODER Revealed

A front panel drawing first went up here. We now have an image of the actual unit, and some details on the new GRP V22 VOCODER:

"After a sneak preview in Florence at Meff, we are working hard to be ready for the official presentation of the V22 at Superbooth 2019 in Berlin. Before Superbooth, another preview in Rome May 4th at Synth Day & Night with Mr. Enrico Cosimi.

A 22 band full analog design vocoder, with analysis and synthesis section full analog (20 BP, 1 LP and 1 HP analysis filters), a dedicated High Pass Filter on Main Output, everything hosted in an indipendent cabinet with wooden panels with a also an optional 'Tolex' version, these are the main technical features of the Grp Vocoder V22.

The preorder for the Grp Vocoder V22 is planned in June 2019; we are not able currently to estimate the price of the Vocoder, but as soon as the second prototype will be finished we will publish an updated pricelist.

"The Grp Synthesizer was developed to offer the enthusiasts of analogical sound a more affordable synth in terms of price and dimension in comparison with the precursor model A8, without renouncing to the quality and performance that characterize our synths. Being featured with the same step sequencer used for the Grp A8, this synth is able to guarantee nearly infinite sound combinations due to the new characteristics which have been implemented in the instrument, with the possibility to filter out external signals and to manage all the important parameters of the analogical generation chain.

The A4 has been derived from an audio section of the Grp A8 (of which it takes over the structure) and it results more versatile and eclectic passing from smooth and extreme clean sonorities to harder sounds thanks to the two distortion installed in the synth (one for each filter) and due to the possibility to make interact synth, ring modulator, external signals and step sequencer in only on mechanism with an immense sonority power. Furthermore, the Loop EG function enables the conditioned and unconditioned repetition of the envelope, in order to reach particular and temporal articulated sonorities."

"Large-format modular system offers: 40 modules of various brands and 150 Synthesizer.com modules. In addition, there are various power-related modules, mounted in the front and the rear.

The system is 275 MU’s front face panels spaces plus 32-more in the rear. Featuring: 27 full-range multi-waveform oscillators, 12-filters, 3 discrete MIDI interfaces, and 4 sequencers. ( not including the Matrixbrute features)

It has taken over a year to purchase and assemble all of the modules: this system is completely ready to use. Most of this system is housed in solid walnut cabinetry.

There are a few modules I bought in used condition, but the rest are new purchases. The cabinetry, controllers, and cabling are all new. After assembly, this system has not been moved, exposed to smoke, or touched by anyone but me.

The entire system is in excellent condition, with a couple of VERY minor scuffs where modules have been periodically installed and/or relocated...

History: I first purchased a Moog System-55 re-issue modular. I discovered Synthesizers.com when doing a simple google search. I learned their clone of the Moog Dual Sequencer Compliment wing was not only superior to that of the Moog’s, it was nearly 1/3 the price. So from there, I bought a System 66 and A/Bd both the tonal and functionality aspects of each to discover the Synthesizers.com sounded better to my ears, had more functions, and was more stable. I sold the Moog, and steadily expanded the system it is today.

I am 100% satisfied with this system.

It would take upwards of 6 months to get all of these modules (and a couple of these you may not able to get at all) and a significant amount of time to install and wire the modules, and assemble the large manual binder.

It also took 2 full days to convert 16 of the modules into their revised versions, yet I have not added the price of the conversion kits to the list below."

March 2019, Italy - Tiptop Audio, the Californian modular synthesizer brand, in partnership with Lattexplus leading event organisation in Florence since 2010 and Synth Café the Italian synth web community are proud to announce the third edition of MEFF at the Impact Hub Florence and BUH! Circolo culturale urbano on the 6th and 7th of April 2019. MEFF returns to Impact Hub coworking in Florence and BUH! Circolo culturale urbano to set up its event, which will include an Exhibitor area where attendees can explore, learn, interact, demo and purchase instruments. The Performance area, called the Auditorium, part of BUH! Circolo culturale urbano is a room acoustically designed by the sound designer and engineer Donato Masci. In the evenings, the location will host workshop and performances including a soldering workshop by Brno brand BASTL Instruments.

"The GRP A2 has two thick analog VCOs and a state variable VCF. The A2 has tons of routing and modulation options all available on rotary switches and a ring modulator as well as a VCLFO and regular LFO as well as two envelopes that are each unique.

There are CV as well as midi control inputs and an arpeggiator built in. The glowing VU meters let you monitor the output which although it is a monophonic synth, different filter outputs can be output at once.

In the first part of the video we used the Elektron Model:Samples for drums and sequencing of the A2.
