X-Plorations Vol 2 - Sequential Prophet X - Patches 97 to 128 (of 128)
video upload by GEOSynths
"Out Now - https://www.geosynths.com/prophetx
So, it's been almost 4 Years since I worked on the Prophet X and then released X-Plorations Vol 1. While it does have some amazing Factory Samples from 8DIO, which i have used, I was a little disappointed in the Synth Samples, so I sampled 14 of my Synths, just the Oscillators wide open over many Octaves and EVERY note.

"A one of a kind Eurorack sequencer and case ( 3 x 126HP).
This case was painstainkling crafted from aluminium extrusuions and 6mm hoop pine plywood. It has removable aluminium legs at the rear that posistion the case on an ergonomic angle.
Inside the bottom of the case the 'clock' is mounted. The clock consists of a geared stepper motor 5:1 driving an aluminium arm with magnets. These activate reed switched on the four different time tracks on the custom made circuit board, 4/4,5/4,6/4,7/4, over 8 bars. The stepper motor is driven by a stepper motor controller, this is connected to a panel installed in the lower left position of the eurorack. This panel has an input 2.1mm barrel socket for a 12V (1A Min) supply, a enable switch, a pulse switch and a direction switch, there is a 3.5mm socket for the input pulse from the oscillator; (the frequency division of the oscillator can be adjusted by dip switches on the stepper motor controller). The oscilator I used was a Doepfer A-145-1 LFO set to High range.
The time signatures are then available over 14 'channels' to have each step turned on or off by the array of miniture toggle switch on the control panel over the 8 bars. The ouputs of each channel are available on 3.5mm sockets on the output panel mounted center-top on the eurorack rails. This panel also features the following outputs - 1 every 8 Bars, Kick drum 4/4, Off beat, 2,4 and 2,3,4 on 4/4 time. Also direct outputs for each time signature.
The case also comes with a custion beat counter module, this displays the BPM in binary.
A selection of spare parts is provided, including - a stepper motor and gearbox (high precision) reed switches, toggle switches, diodes.
Note - this device best suits those with some electronic skills as this device will likely need servicing at some stage. Also it my require trouble shooting should it become damaged during transportation. It will be well packed and marked fragile. The damage will like be a solder joint becoming faulty it the device is bashed about. The circuits are very simple and easy to trace. The 'clock' board is mounted to the botem panel that can be 'quickly' removed from the bottom of the case via wingnuts."

How to setup midi sync between analog synths with Grandmother and OB-6
video upload by EthanJamesMusic
Sponsor plug: see Innerclock Systems for rock solid syncing.
"I received a question for how to set up the Sequential Circuits OB-6 as a master clock that can drive the Moog Grandmother to sync the two synths in a DAW-less environment. This is a universal setup process, where one synth has to be the master clock, and the other sync has to receive the master clock and sync its note attacks.
One caveat is that the old MIDI protocol that is used outside of a DAW is not extremely stable. I got lucky in this video, where clock drift didn't happen, but before the convenience of computers, electronic musicians used to buy expensive Master MIDI clocks to drive all synths from one location."

Latest Moog Spectravox Demos
video uploads by Moog Music
Moog Music
You can find the first two videos in the series here, and additional Spectravox posts here.
Playlist:
1. Spectravox | Sculptable Synthesizer Voice
"In this video we explore how to use Spectravox as a standalone synthesizer voice.Spectravox | Filter Pings and Analog Physical Modeling
We begin by configuring Spectravox for keyboard control – patching the Keyboard CV output of Grandmother to the 1V/OCT input on Spectravox and the Keyboard Gate output of Grandmother to the Trigger input on Spectravox. Playing Spectravox this way gives us a unique analog synthesizer voice where the ten filters and Spectral Shift controls allow us to sculpt the sound of Spectravox’s Voltage Controlled Oscillator. We look at using these controls alongside the LFO for both traditional lowpass and hipass filtering as well as unique notch filtering, comb filtering, and phasing effects. Lastly, we look at using the LFO and the VCA input to create tremolo effects."
In this video we explore how to ping the filters of Spectravox to turn it into an analog physical modeling instrument and create percussive wooden sounds like marimbas or xylophones. By replacing the carrier input to Spectravox’s filter bank with a gate or envelope instead of audio and turning the resonance of the filter up, we can ping all ten filters and mix their levels for creating struck percussion sounds. In this video we first turn the VCA mode ON and then patch the Gate output of Grandmother to the Trigger input of Spectravox to use Grandmother to trigger Spectravox’s envelope generator. Patching the EG output to the Program input gives us level control of the envelope, and finally patching the Program output to the Carrier input inserts our decay-only envelope directly into the audio input of the filter bank. Later, we connect the Keyboard CV output of Grandmother to the Shift CV input on Spectravox to move all ten filters for melodic control of the filter bank.2. Spectravox | Recreating Moogerfooger Effects for Guitar
In this video we explore how to use Spectravox to process guitar and look at recreating some of the Moogerfooger effects pedals with it.3. Spectravox | Emulating a Vintage Drum Machine
We begin by using the Program section and its preamplifier to bring a guitar signal up to Eurorack levels for processing, and then connect the Program section output to the filter bank’s Carrier input. Here is how to recreate or simulate some of the Moogerfoogers:
MF-103 Phaser – use the filter bank as a comb filter and modulate it with the LFO for resonant phaser tones.
MF-101 Lowpass Filter – use only filter 1 (lowpass filter) and the Program Envelope Follower to get enveloped filtering. Switch to one of the bandpass filters for auto-wah effects.
MF-102 Ring Modulator – modulate the VCA CV with the LFO for tremolo effects and push the LFO to audio-rate for ring modulator-esque amplitude modulation. Explore amplitude modulation of each filter band respectively via their CV inputs
MF-105 MuRF – send an external sequence (from DFAM, Grandmother, or any sequencer) to the Shift input for sequenced resonant filter bank movement. Modulate each filter band individually with independent envelopes for even more MuRF-like behavior.
Spectravox is an open-ended signal processor, so use these as starting points and explore the myriad of unclassifiable effects Spectravox is capable of.
Embark on an exploration of Spectravox's capabilities as we delve into the intricate art of crafting vintage drum machine sounds with a contemporary flair. 🎛️💥 Join us in a meticulous fusion of Spectravox and rhythmic sequencers, aimed at resurrecting the beloved beats reminiscent of the 1970s and the nostalgic rhythms of vintage organs.

Sound design tutorial from Stranger Things Eleven using OB-6 and Moog Grandmother
video upload by EthanJamesMusic
"This is a sound design tutorial for how to approach a specific sound that was used in the first season of Stranger Things. I was requested to show how I would make the lead sound that happens in the track "Eleven". The sound is a wet electric piano type of sound, with some wrinkles around the use of filter modulation and reverb..
The Sequential Circuits OB-6 can do a respectable job of coming close to the sound, and I tried to get a Grandmother version to come close. This track does require polyphony, so the Grandmother would have to be multitracked to get the same result.
Analog synthesizers have found a way back into film music, which has led to a lot of rich experimentation of what these instruments are capable of. I think my main takeaway is the heavy use of envelope, and setting the filter modulation much lower than a normal synth pluck would require. Also, having a really dry sound mixed in with lots of ambience really cuts through in a way that creates a strong effect."

Sound design tutorial from the film Blade Runner 2049 using OB-6 and Moog Grandmother
video upload by EthanJamesMusic
"This is a sound design tutorial for how to approach a specific sound that was used in the film Blade Runner 2049 from 2017 with a score by Hans Zimmer. I was requested to show how I would make the lead sound that happens in the track 'Mesa'. The sound is a wet synth brass type of sound, with some wrinkles, where the pitch is a little further apart than you normal would do for an EDM track or the type of pop 1980s track, where this type of sound was used a lot.
The Sequential Circuits OB-6 can do a respectable job of coming close to the sound. I have no idea what was actually used for the film, but it sounds closer to a CS-80, which now costs over $100,000 used. For this reason, I'm teaching how to make the sound on both OB-6 and the Moog Grandmother.
Analog synthesizers have found a way back into film music, which has led to a lot of rich experimentation of what these instruments are capable of. I think my main takeaway from making this video, is that a lot can be achieved by moving the pitch of two oscillators far apart from each other to create a lot of disturbance in the melody. Also, having a really dry sound mixed in with lots of ambience really cuts through in a way that creates a strong effect.
I hope you learn something from this tutorial, and it gives you some ideas to try out! Please let me know if there are any questions, or if anyone knows what instrument was used on the film. I would guess a Minimoog or similar."
