FOUR SEAS // A Multi-Voice Mega Wavetable Oscillator Powerhouse from Ferry Island Modular
video upload by DivKid
"Here we have Ferry Island Modular's first release 'Four Seas', which is designed, engineered and manufactured in Finland. It's a real power house of a sound source, suiting to quickly grabbing some waves to patch with or for deep sound design tweaking. Everything is knob/button per function with no menus, making complex behaviours, modulations and sounds simple to access. There's LOTS of examples in this video, see the timing index below for all that's covered ... yet I'm sure there's lots left to uncover with all the options this presents."

The Florian Schneider Collection to Be Auctioned at JULIEN*S November 19

via JULIEN*S
"THE FLORIAN SCHNEIDER COLLECTION
Auction to be held at Musician's Hall of Fame & Museum, Nashville, on November 19
An incredible collection of more than 450 artifacts from the life and career of Florian Schneider, co-founder of the pioneer electronic band Kraftwerk."
Pics and videos featuring some of the gear below, and his Lederhosen for good measure (thanks greg!).
Update: the post has been fully updated with all the synth related gear. This may just well be the longest post to be featured on the site. I wanted to capture all the pics for all of the details including notes, scuffs, and of course serial numbers. It's an interesting look into what he used, the condition he keped his gear, in some cases, how he actually used his gear. Note the phonetics on the keys of the Casio CZ-101 and DX-100. Note the Midi Switch Box with a built-in speaker? What's that about? Note the camouflage key strap on the Korg RK-100 Remote Keyboard. Did he pick it out himself or did the keytar just come with it? Note the repeat midi controllers and the MIDI saxaphones. Wind was his primary instrument. You'll find a ton of the acoustic gear he used in the other listings. This is a fascinating insight into both what and how he used his gear.
Side note: there is no affiliate compensation for this post. The note at the top automatically shows for all posts with the Auction label.

Rack Mount Sennheiser VSM-201 Vocoder
Starting Bid $5,000
Estimate $20,000 - $40,000 USD
A late 1970s Sennheiser VSM 201 Vocoder with no serial number from the personal studio and collection of Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk (see images). While it’s said that only a few dozen of these Vocoders were produced, a few examples made it into the hands of forward-thinking musical artists including Herbie Hancock, Daft Punk, and of course, Kraftwerk, who used a VSM-201 like this on their albums Man Machine (1978) and Computerworld (1981). The VSM-201 has an intelligible sound that has not yet been bested by modern gear. Includes power cable. This VSM-201 has been removed from its wooden enclosure (which bears the serial number plate) and modified with a metal rack mount casing, presumably for live use. Requires 240v, IEC power cable not included.
Dimensions: 19 x 9 x 9 inches
Category: Kraftwerk, Equipment
Provenance: PROVENANCE From the Estate of Florian Schneider

Meet You At The Top
video upload by davidryle
"A two part piece. Both are pitch voltage quantization controlled from the ACL Sinfonion. I switch presets through the first part from preset 1 - 4 and in the second half I leave it on preset 5.
The Sinfonion chord section is sending pitch quantization to the Doepfer A-111-4 quad VCO and A-105-4 quad SSI filter. The mixer is the Corsynth T-Mixer. The Empress reverb in Ambient Swell green mode is used.
The opening voice is Channel 2 of the Sinfonion and is sent to the Dotcom Q206 with the Dove D502 in BP mode P1, then an SSL Serge Resonant EQ and finally the Strymon Blue Sky.
A counter voice is the Channel 3 quantizer to a pair of Synthetic Sound Labs TZ-VC Oscillators to the Oakley VC-SVF in BP mode. The audio is routed through a Moon 517S high pass filter to roll of the lower mid tones. I used an instance of Relab Development's LX480 classic Lexicon reverb. This same voice is used for the main melodic part in the second section.
The Channel 1 of the Sinfonion is to the bass voice which is the Dotcom Q169 Oscillator++ and Grove Audio G294A ladder filter.
The Sinfonion arpeggiator part is to the STG oscillator duet and the Dove D501 2069 filter. The signal is sent through the Modcan 73B dual delay. In the first section this voice is solo, but in the second section I added in a duplicated run of the MosLab 901/904A through a different envelope which is timed a bit more sparse and sent through the second section of the 73B delay.
Most of my time was spent mixing levels and changing the timing of the SSL Hagiwo Geo-Gruvn euclidean sequencer. The clock timing was controlled by row 3 of the Moon 563 trigger seq. I used two different memory presets on the Geo-Gruvn for each section. These timings were used for the gate controls to the SSL Octal VCA, CV-8 Breakout and AD/AR Expander. The eight channel vca handled four of the voices. Very cool array of modules.
I also sent and effort to control the timing of the STG Voltage Mini Store's timing with row 2 of the 563. The right VMS is used for the Root control to the Sinfonion. The faster moving left VMS is to the arpeggiator of the Sinfonion.
The Sinfonion is using various cv's from the Q960 step sequencers to affect the chord spread and note selections. Also an LFO is used to affect the pre-transpose of the chord section.
A convoluted patch using the Lower West Side Studios CGS88 triple switch, the Dove D900 sequencer and three voltage sources to send control voltage to the transpose on the Sinfonion. I used the Moon 564 trigger stage 1 to turn this on and off by hand when needed.
The final clangorous opening and ending patch voice was the Mutable Instruments Rings through the Behringer Bode Frequency Shifter clone and the Encore Frequency Shifter, and on through the Tip Top Z-DSP signal processor running Halls of Valhalla reverb (Niflheim preset). It was also the midway noise rush background sound where the sections changed. These were added later in Cubase and triggered by hand.
The sections were performed at once live to Cubase and video edited in Final Cut Pro."

A Towel For Ms Winters
video upload by davidryle
"Large format modular synthesizer recording live in the studio.
The opening noise burst is the Dove WTF in noise mode along with the Sputnik WCRS to an Oakley SVF in band pass mode to the Modcan 73B dual Delay and Z-DSP with Halls of Valhalla reverb. Modulation to the 73B is from the STG Voltage Mini Stores for delay cv.
Noise cacophony part is a pair of STG Soundlabs Oscillators to the Oakley Sound Systems Ring Modulator to a Grove Audio LPF and a MegaOhm Audio MA20 in highpass mode. The signal is sent to a tape echo then compressor.
The echo drone bass is the dotcom Q169 vco to a Moon 517S LPF. The echo delay is a stereo Lexicon MX200.
The lower bass tone is the Woven Spirits (MI Plaits) from Synthetic Sound Labs. Straight in, no filter or envelope. The chords are a pair of dotcom Q206 vcos and a pair of Q106 vcos for four part harmony. The cv source is the dual Matrix from SSL in dorian modes. A pair of dotcom Q171 and Q172 Quantizers were used with gates from the Geo-Gruvn to time the S&H pitch voltages. Toward the latter half of the piece I was playing the quantizers to change modes from augmented to diminished and back again. The audio signals are sent through a LWSS Yusynth panning mixer then a pair of filters. The Dove D502 in low pass four pole and the Frequency Central System X in 24dB low pass mode. They are sent to the Empress Reverb pedal in blue sparkle mode.
All gate timings were provided by the SSL Hagiwo Geo-Gruvn sequencer and the STG Time Divider. Additional divider s are the Moon 564, Moon 563 and STG Trigger Mini Store.
The theme here was the well known stories of the femme-fatale-gone-awry roles Shelly Winters played in many famous movies. She was drowned a few times and it became an urban legend of sorts. A great actress that rarely was rewarded with much favor but did finally reach a celebrated status."

Waldorf Blofeld Dark Atmospheric Ambient Presets Sound Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"Obscured Waves is a collection of 64 presets for Waldorf Blofeld that explores the darker, vintage-inspired side of sound design. The bank is built around the idea of imperfection—gritty, lo-fi textures combined with constantly shifting timbres created through rich modulation.
These sounds are alive, expressive, and full of character, bringing a distinctive atmosphere to any track, performance, or video production.
🌌 The soundset includes: 9 Textures, 7 Leads, 15 Pads, 11 Strings, 6 Rhythmical, 8 Keys, 8 Drones.
📦 Get these presets: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/blof...
💎 The timbres span a wide spectrum: dark, noisy, lo-fi, retro, romantic, melancholic, nostalgic, soundscapes, atmospheric, detuned, cold, distant, dull, massive, epic, bright, orchestral, distorted, metallic, tense, atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, and sweeping.
🎛 The patches include dozens of modulations, adding motion and variation.
Velocity sensitivity and ModWheel assignments are mapped for expressive control, making each sound performance-friendly. ModWheel adds modulations — brightening the sound,
introducing vibrato, shifting tone, or adding extra movement for dynamic performance.
🔮 What sets Obscured Waves apart is its fusion of experimental tones and playable musical textures. Whether you’re crafting ambient, techno, cinematic, IDM, industrial, drum and bass, retrowave, or any style that leans into a dark atmospheric or moodier aesthetic, this soundset will give your music depth and identity.
🧿 Each preset was meticulously designed to deliver a tactile, emotional experience. Techniques such as noise layering, distortion, FM, and vintage tape emulation were used to evoke an analog character from this digital instrument. The result is a visceral set of sounds that feel aged, nostalgic, and imperfect—in all the right ways.
💡 Technical Information. How to import/upload presets.
The presets are compatible with hardware Blofeld versions: desktop and keyboard; and with the official Blofeld VST Plugin.
Make sure you are using the latest hardware firmware and vst-plugin versions.
No Samples and third-party wavetables are required. The soundset is made with the factory content only.
The soundset comes in multiple formats:
Bank in .syx format (Bank G)
Bank in .mid format (Bank G)
Bank in .blo format for Auraplugins Blofeld Editor/Librarian users
Bank in .bpz format for the official Blofeld VST plugin users
Separate presets in .syx format
Separate presets in .mid format
The bank contains presets in slots 01–64. Slots 65–128 are Init Presets. SysEx transfer will overwrite the entire Bank G. Make a backup before loading.
Set Device ID to 0 (zero).
To load the presets onto the synthesizer, use a SysEx file utility: SysEx Librarian by Snoize (for Mac) or MIDI-OX/Bome Send SX (for Windows).
Connect the Blofeld to your computer via USB and select it as the MIDI device in the application settings.
Load the .syx or .mid bank file into the application, select it, and click Send/Play.
The bank will be transferred to the synthesizer within a minute."

dreadbox Artemis Demo (No Talking) with Presets for Ambient, Electronica and Techno
video upload by Limbic Bits
"dreadbox Artemis – My 2 Cents
Artemis is a polyphonic analog synthesizer with six voices and a comprehensive effects section developed by Sinevibes. Housed in a solid desktop chassis, all potentiometers, faders, and buttons feel great, with just the right amount of resistance. On the rear, you'll find a stereo output, a separate headphone output, plus USB and MIDI connections. It doesn't offer a foot pedal input, but it supports MPE (I still need to try that with my Osmose).
Now to the most important part — the sound. It features that great vintage tone I love so much on other dreadbox devices, largely thanks to its creamy-sounding filters. Both filters offer resonance, and the low-pass filter can be switched between 12dB and 24dB slopes.
But it doesn't stop there: thanks to TZFM and filter FM (yes, noise can be a source here too), it can sound very modern as well, making it great for all sorts of electronic music. Although it offers quite a lot of modulation options, I still found myself wishing for features like key tracking for LFO rate, negative envelope amounts, noise as a modulation source in the menu, or meta-modulations. After reaching out to dreadbox about these features, they told me they are already working on them for a future update and/or will look into them. Based on my past experiences with dreadbox, I’m confident we can expect a nice firmware update for Artemis in the future.
The effects section by Sinevibes is also great — it’s just a shame that there are no external inputs like on the Typhon, as those would have made it a fantastic standalone effects unit as well. You get four effect slots (Lo-Fi/overdrive/shaper, modulation, delay, and reverb), each with several options to further tweak the sound. Here, I would love to see a bit more flexible routing, allowing changes to the effect order. But even without that, the effects section is a great addition that melts perfectly into the internal analog sound engine. I'd only recommend not adding too much, as the effects can quickly become dominant.
TL;DR: dreadbox Artemis is a sweet-spot synth that can also show its teeth when desired. Its intuitive interface and great-sounding effects unit make it an excellent companion for live performances. Definitely a highlight!"

New Eurorack Modules Coming From Doepfer
Doepfer will be showcasing the above new modules at SUPERBOOTH25. Details on each follow.
Check with dealers on the right for upcoming availability.
Module A-119-2 is kind of a dual version of module A-119 without envelope follower. Instead two amplifiers are available and the module width is 4 HP only.
The module contains two amplifiers with separately adjustable amplification levels. Each channel is equipped with an overload display. The module can be used also for stereo signals, e.g. the stereo output of a smartphone.
Controls and displays:
Level 1/2: manual control of the amplification in the range 0 - about 45.
Overload 1/2: overload LED, begins to light up for output levels beyond about 10Vpp (+/-5V)
In 1: audio input 1 (monophonic or stereophonic, see technical details)
In 2: audio input 2 (monophonic)
Out 1/2: audio output (monophonic)
Technical details:
for higher amplifications the two amplifiers can be daisy-chained
normalling options: the signal applied to socket In 1 can be normalled to socket In 2 in different ways by means of a jumper on the pc board:
socket In 1 is connected via a mono patch cable (standard patch cable) to a monophonic signal and this signal is normalled to socket In 2 (i.e. the same input signal for both sub-units): jumper on pin header JP2 in upper position
socket In 1 is connected via a 3.5 mm stereo TRS cable to a stereophonic signal and the second channel of the stereo signal is normalled to socket In 2: jumper on pin header JP2 in lower position
no normalling: jumper is removed from pin header JP2
all inputs and outputs are DC coupled. Thus the module can be used also for the amplifications of control voltages.

"Vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 10 Dual Manual Keyboard Synthesizer with Flight Case This Prophet 10 is in very good condition, and is fully functional, although the Braemer tape drive has not been tested. Has factory MIDI and sequencer, and the original blue Prophet-10 flight case on wheels. This may be one of the last Prophet-10s made, as the S/N is 0444. It's big and heavy!! Includes power cord, electronic copies of the operation manual and service information, and one original Sequential footswitch. The flight case foam is serviceable, but could use replacement. The synth is wrapped in plastic within the flight case. Full pictures are here [captured below]. By far the most prevalent of the original Prophet 10 models, the Prophet 10 Rev3 was a better built version than the previous 2 iterations for more consistent and reliable performance. It used Curtis Electronics Manufacturing chips, and featured 2 VCOs per voice, a low pass resonant filter with ADSR, LFO, & cv/gate controls. This rarely seen monster analog synth is by far one of the fattest and nicest vintage synthesizers.

Abandoned Prairie Town
video upload by davidryle
"A Vector Sequencer project running the large format modular.
The slow pace was the experiment basis and the Vector Sequencer really handles that perfectly. I also added the Jack Expander module to the Vector so I had four sequence lines this time to send to the modular.
The drone bass is a Mos-Lab clone of the Moog 901. No need for a sequencer there as it is a single pitch.
The opening sound is the pair of Matrix modules. This sound effect is heard again at the closing passage.
The opening slow pad note sequence is the STG vco's and G294A filter through a Strymon Blue Sky pedal.
The swell pattern is two Q206's to the Q150 filter. The stereo signal is routed through a Lexicon MX200 for pitch shift and chorus.
The distant ghostly piano sounding sequence is two lines from the Vector to a pair of TZ vco's and the Yusynth Arp 4072 filter. The final effect chain is the Stasis Leak delay module and the Z-DSP signal processor.
The flutter sounding noise is the Dove WTF to a Tau Pipe phaser and an Oakly SVF in high pass mode.
The wind effects were the West Coast Noise Source to the MOTM 440 filter and the Q110 noise module to the Dove D502 filter in band pass mode."
