Korg Poly800 and Casio CZ101 inspired weird tune

Published on Jun 2, 2013 noddyspuncture·44 videos

"Here's a weird tune... spent an afternoon on my much neglected Poly800 & CZ101 through some effects. Among the many ideas that surfaced this one was probably the weirdest...! They are cracking little keyboards though...;c)"

"Kneeling on the bed and trying to keep the synths from sliding away - and also my metal foot wouldn't let me kneel for long, hence all the movement... haha!. Never mind, here it is - my mother's favourite - "Try A Little Tenderness" - on Korg Poly800 & Casio CZ101"

MonotrOndes - Korg Monotron hacked into Ondes Martenot-style synthesizer

Published on May 31, 2013 ElectronicMelodist·1 video

"Hi!

I built this Ondes Martenot-style musical instrument. It's quite cheap to build. The sound generator is Korg Monotron. The most expensive part besides the Monotron was a multiturn 100k potentiometer. You can build your own. I will show more details soon in my blog electronicmelodist.blogspot.fi"

Studio Electronics Boomstar 3003 - The second 2 minutes

"Following on from my first noodle with the 3003 [posted here], I set about creating a track just using this lively little beast. I got sidetracked and added other stuff but here's just the 3003 parts with a few bars of (unfinished) track context at the end (inc Ableton Live Operator, Maschine and Waldorf Blofeld). The sections are either one, two or three 3003 layers with a touch of UAD EP34 delay on some elements."

"Waldorf Microwave 1, REV B, CEM 3387 filters, in excellent cosmetic condition, original Waldorf manual, needs servicing: it loads soundsets via sysex, midi works, all menu functions work, all buttons and controls work, but for some reason no sound comes out from audio outputs. If you are a fan of electronics repair, this is for you."

Koma Elektronik Kommander CV & Gate Motion Controller

"A handheld dual infrared X-Y motion controller

Want to create the perfect filter sweep, manually trigger a gate or step through a sequencer? No more need to turn knobs or to patch up a lot of modules, the Kommander makes it simple: just plug it into a CV input on your (modular) synthesizer, move your hand over the device and you are able to control it with your hands, feet or nose, yes: just like a theremin: Kommand and Konquer!

The Kommander is a handheld dual infrared X-Y motion controller that makes controlling your electronic instruments intuitive and fun. The device measures the distance to your hand or any other surface and sends out corresponding CV signals between 0 and 8V. The closer you have your hand to the Kommander, the higher the output voltage. This will allow you to create complex synth sounds, trigger a drum machine, control your Koma effect pedals or any other instrument that is capable of receiving CV signals.

Koma know that some equipment can only accept CV signals up to 3V or 5V, that's why they fitted the Kommander with attenuators, which are accessible in the back of the unit. The attenuators connected to the CV outputs allow you to attenuate the maximum voltage output, so you can e.g. set the range from 0V to 5V instead of 0V to 8V.

Because of the innovative circuit design there is no interference from sunlight or stage light, so the musician can use it wherever she or he wants. Just plug the Kommander into your Eurorack Modular System, Buchla, Moog, Roland or any other synthesizer and create.

Features

Strong die cast aluminium box with great black metal design
2 x IR sensors with optical crosstalk
4 x mini jack outputs (2 x gate/2 x CV (one of each per sensor)
4 x sensing range trimmers on the back
Between 0 - 8V CV output (but you can set the output to 0 - 3V or 0 - 5V as well)
9V DC input"

the ekdahl moisturizer

Basically, the ekdahl moisturizer is a spring reverb where the springs are exposed so they can be played/hit/fiddled with. as well as being capable of creating sound in itself, you can of course also play sound through the springs like a regular spring reverb - this makes for happy-fun-time finger-modulation of the reverb on whatever audio that's going through it. on top of this there's an analog multimode filter that can be used to attenuate or exaggerate certain frequencies in the sound, this is real handy while playing the springs as you can - for instance - cut all the highs and just make thunderous doomy sounds or do the opposite; cut all the lows and make that ear piercing high frequency special love. also, it incorporates an lfo that's internally routable to the filter and that also has some external routing-stuff. the ekdahl moisturizer has tons of cv / expression pedal options on the back for even more hillarious moments. the moisturizer is a mono unit.

the moisturizer was developed with the help of jason willett (half japanese, leperchaun catering), martin schmidt (matmos, instant coffee), joshua atkins (polygons, major powers), mom & dad and many more - thanks y'all!

what's in the box:
the ekdahl moisturizer contains exactly:
preamp (up to 10 times gain)
reverb
reverb / preamp wet/dry crossfader (knob & cv/ep controllable)

state variable filter with
lowpass/bandpass/highpass seamless crossover (knob, cv/ep & lfo controllable)
cutoff (knob, cv/ep & lfo controllable)
resonance (without resonance limiter)

lfo with
speed control (knob & cv/ep controllable)
square / triangle crossover
external output with output amplitude knob
filter / no filter wet/dry crossfader (knob & cv/ep controllable)"
