Fantastic analog sound that you just can’t get anywhere else, with genuine discrete VCOs and a state-variable analog filter, coupled to analog distortion and digital effects, a sequencer and arpeggiator, and a quality keyboard with velocity and pressure sensitivity.

I made new solid wood end-pieces for this synth out of figured maple, dyed black and finished with glossy de-waxed shellac for maximum chatoyance.

The only thing stopping me from describing this synth as “mint” is that it suffered one minor drop from waist height onto carpeting (and my foot). One of the original wood ends cracked, and there are a few small scuffs under the mod wheel housing. (See photo.) The chassis is otherwise unharmed, all controls work and feel like new, and the synth sounds and functions perfectly."

One of the first fully programmable polyphonic analog synths, the Prophet 5 is the most classic synthesizer of the eighties! It is capable of a delightful analog sound unique to Sequential's Prophet series in which the P5 was King! Five voice polyphony - two oscillators per voice and a white noise generator. The analog filters, envelope and LFO all sound great and are extremely flexible. The P5 had patch memory storage as well, which scanned and memorized every knob setting for storing and recalling your sounds - a desperately needed feature at the time!
Rev 3.3 is capable of taking a MIDI retrofit, (Which this has)."
