Analog Four MKII - The New Sound [JAM]
Published on Oct 31, 2017 cuckoomusic
"Elektron has refined the signal chain in the new Analog Four MKII to achieve a more mature sound, and a also brand new overdrive. This might seem like a small adjustment at first, but after working with it for a while I feel like it is much more than that. The sonic palette has broadened, all of the sounds have a more solid presence. Especially in the low end. Even the sounds that sound "exactly the same" as on the MKI do in fact benefit from the refined signal chain. I like what I hear.
Here's a jam with several of the sounds used actually not really possible to fully reproduce on the MKI."
"Diaper lord" - Novation Peak, Elektron Digitakt, Rytm, A4, Op-1, Monologue, KaossPad, Mother 32

"I've swapped the DSI Pro2 for the Novation Peak. Really loving the sound of it, but barely scratching the surface so far. Also added the push to the mix, to be able to play the peak. The idea is to jam the peak on the push, and then later let the digitakt control it, but i've yet to reconnect everything with the midi thru box i recently got. Maybe for the next one ! Just wanted to get this out the door, enjoy !"

Todd Barton Performance at Wayward Music 10/28/2017
Published on Oct 30, 2017 matrixsynth
You should all be familiar with Todd Barton over the years here on MATRIXSYNTH.
[Note: Todd has an upcoming performance coming up on Monday, November 13 at the Conservatory of Music at UOP, Stockton, California. That event will feature electronic instruments designed and built by Rob Hordijk. If you are in the area, you do not want to miss it.]
The above is the full performance by Todd Barton on the BEMI Buchla Music Easel at Wayward Music, announced here. Note the performance was in quad (four channels of spatial audio around the room), however, I was only able to capture it on my iPhone 6s, so unfortunately the quality is limited here. This video is meant more for historical purposes, but do enjoy it. It was an amazing performance.
You can find Todd Barton's website at http://toddbarton.com.
The following bio is from the Wayward Music event page http://www.waywardmusic.org/event/tod...
"Todd Barton is a composer, sound designer, multimedia performer, and analog synthesist specializing in Buchla, Serge and Hordijk modular systems. After four decades of exploration Barton is still delving deeply into the ever-expanding frontiers of musical expression: from his DNA derived Genome Music to his innovative scores for plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; from performances of Zen shakuhachi meditation music to avant-garde music for electronic synthesizers and computers; from performing with luminaries of jazz and poetry to lecturing on music and composition from the Middle Ages to the 21st Century. He gives Skype lessons and consultations in analog synthesis worldwide and is currently a trainer for MacProVideo.com. Todd is fascinated and obsessed with exploring sound and its infinite manifestations. This performance will be a live improvisation which “Follows the Sound” of a Buchla Music Easel.
Presented by Nonsequitur."
Jason E Anderson Performance at Wayward Music 10/28/2017

First 16:33 of Jason E Anderson's performance on a 5U modular at Wayward Music, Seattle, WA 10/28/2017. The system featured a rare 5U Cynthia Zeroscillator and modules from https://synthesizers.com. I was a member of the audience and decided to capture the performance with my iPhone 6s, so unfortunately the quality is limited. This video is meant more for historical purposes, but do enjoy it. It was a great performance.
You can find Jason's website at: http://jasoneanderson.net
The following bio is from the Wayward Music event page http://www.waywardmusic.org/event/todd-barton-guest-tba/
"Jason E Anderson is an artist from Seattle whose work includes performance, recorded works, video, installation, and music for dance. He creates sound using synthesis, acoustic recordings, programming and text. His work emerges from the traditions of experimental music and sound art. Anderson performs and records music under his own name, as Spare Death Icon, as LIMITS with Corrie Befort, and as a member of network computer music collective Mesh Collaborative . He is an active performer, and organizer/producer of performance events in the Pacific Northwest, and he publishes the recorded work of his contemporaries on his experimental music record labels Gift Tapes and DRAFT. Jason’s performance will employ the use of a computer running supercollider to generate events and sequences as control voltages that are sent to an analog synthesizer.

Quick demo of 2x PreenFM & 1x Ambika with 6 SMR4 voice cards. HQ Sound
Published on Oct 30, 2017 Todd Murray
"This is a nothing planned, adhoc session just to demonstrate the sound quality of these two DIY synth projects. Both synths are open source code, and open hardware. You can still obtain prebuilt PreenFMs or you can DIY and build the entire synth from scratch.
The Ambika is not longer made by Mutable Instruments. It too is Open source and open hardware, and there are some sources who still build them or you can DIY
In both cases you can build these synths yourself by downloading all of the CAD files for the circuit boards and case, sourcing their build, then source the components and assemble the circuits.... then download the software and install it.
If you want to build these yourself, and have experience you should have little issues as both are fairly straight forward and the build doc quite clear. The PreenFM may be a particular challenge if you choose to DIY the MCU board. Soldering a STM32F405 takes practice and a steady hand. In both cases you will also need to upload the firmware to the processors.
You can learn more about the Ambika
here: https://mutable-instruments.net/archive/
and the PreenFM here: http://ixox.fr/preenfm2/"
