Waldorf M Gets a MicrowaveII/XT Style Digital Filter
via Waldorf
"New M firmware version with a new digital filter. Well, the last version did not last very long. There's another new M firmware update available and this one comes packed with a new digital filter (similar to the one used in the Micro Wave II). Beside the new filter feature the new firmware also comes with bug fixes and if you missed it of course with the great new features from the last update: Fast loading of presets, "Ghost in the machine" randomize feature for instant new presets or as an inspiration source."
via the Release notes:
"Technically speaking, this is an adaptation of Dattaro-Chamberlin SVF (which is similar to MWII implementation of LP12/BP12/HP12 VCF modes).
However, it is NOT a direct clone of such MWII filters into M.
So, what we have here as DigiVCF. This is actually LP/BP/HP SVF with 12 dB / oct slope, with resonance, and without self-oscillation. It stays directly between Mixer output and analog VCF, i.e. this is the last digital element of M's sound path. It can be enabled/disabled, and cutoff frequency could be modulated through one modulator. On the full resonance, it's attenuate a signal at 12 dB, and with an ASIC bug enabled, it could be overdriven up to clipping. Without ASIC bug it should not be overdriven. The cutoff is within the range 10Hz - 10kHz. This was made intentionally meaning to fit into the Classic OSC Mode performance. However, it passed the M character well. This is an experimental, non-planned feature, but allows to advance the sonic possibilities of the M a bit more.
It could be found on the MIX section of UI, pages 4 and 5. The graphics were not implemented in this release. Honestly, I need feedback about this feature generally.
FW : Host 1.06 RC
- fixed the voice stealing bug in Multi-Mode (broken round-robin).
- fixed mono retrig allocator mode.
- fixed mono legato allocator mode, changed to duophonic legato (allows trill, but does not track more than one previously pressed key)
- fixed bug with loading sound if it contains two different user wavetables.
- added DigiVCF sound parameters.
- added DigiVCF UI pages.
- added DigiVCF support for existing patches."

"Mosaic 1u - Random for CREATIVE MAYHEM!
This 1u module packs a big punch for the size!
You get internal or external clocking, random gates, random smooth voltages and random stepped voltages output(s)!
It's really useful for adding some creative randomness to your patches!
Whatever kind of music you are making - KEEP IT UP, Friends!
Don't stop making *YOUR MUSIC*!!"
V.A.I. 69 : CRB Oberon / Elka Drummer One
video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia
"The CRB Oberon is a dual oscillator monophonic synth made in a very limited production run in Italy in the late 70s by CRB, at the time mainly makers of consumer transistor organs. The synthesizer is equipped with a third limited oscillator and it has a wide range of sound capabilities: it can produce huge lush leads - like in this video here - but also the very opposite : harsh and oddly thin textures and sound effects.
It’s fairly stable in pitch and performance and has lots on board, 2 noise generators, a switchable low and high pass filter but also sporting a third filter type, that we need more time to explore, plus interesting LFO possibilities.
We want to give a massive thanks to Marco Molendi and Mirco Trentin for repairing this unit - reverse engineering it to create the schematics from scratch - literally saving a machine that was in bad shape on arrival. Also big shout out to Riccardo at Museo del synth Marchigiano who helped out by cross referencing his machine to this one, and lastly Marcello Colò, who developed the CRB Oberon in the 70s, while working at the CRB plant.
These are immensely rare and there aren’t many recordings or videos of the Oberon out there so we hope you enjoy, all in all we need more time with this machine since it’s a bit more complex than the other monophonic Italian synths of the era - but they'll be more videos coming - so please stay tuned."

Vermona DRM1 played in a Jeff Mills Style! Live Programming and dirty Techno Jam with Stefan Braatz!
video upload by Wine&Synths
"Stefan quickly discovered the new old suitcase in the studio I unboxed last week. And he was not to stop! Here are his first steps with the legendary Vermona DRM1 vintage drum machine made in GDR in 1987! In order to have some extra fun, he hooked it up with an Electro Harmonix "Big Muff Bass Pi". Bam!
TR-909 or TR-808 may be cool, but this is a unicorn! :-)
In this video again, I welcome my old friend Stefan Braatz, who is widely renowned for being highly addicted to all those machines with a *0* in the middle. This made him produce a multitude of records and remixes all along through the world of 'traditional' house music between Berlin and Chicago. Back in the late nineties he established his emblematic imprint 'Adapter-Records' which soon became cult on vinyl. Nowadays, Stefan is releasing on labels like Pokerflat, Robsoul, Exploited, Kingstreet, Nite Grooves and SoulDeep and remixing and producing with artists like Tyree Cooper, Oliver Dollar, Lady B, Eric D. Clark, Merwyn Sanders from Chicagos’ Virgo Four amongst many others!"

This is a legendary Jupiter 8, 12 bit early model (1981) with the newest OS chips(34) and the DCB option. It has been almost fully recapped and has had extensive service by synth techs, Rick Smith and also David at Nitelife electronics in Vancouver. All the rainbow button switches have been replaced. Perfectly tuned and calibrated with zero issues and it sounds incredible.
There are obviously some small cosmetic knicks here and there and some dents near the power switch but otherwise this synth is in excellent shape and very clean with no corrosion and minimal wear. Keys are in great condition.
Includes the Roland MD8 DCB-Midi interface pictured + custom dust cover"
