Introducing the AS Vocoder: True Analogue Vocoding from Analogue Solutions

video upload by Analogue Solutions

"The AS Vocoder is available as a standalone unit, or as an upgrade to your Colossus synthesizer.

The sounds heard in this video were made with the Colossus synthesizer and the AS Vocoder. Let this video serve as our official announcement. More demos to come!

What is the AS Vocoder?

Analogue Solutions proudly introduces the AS Vocoder, a powerful, full-analogue vocoder that blends authentic vintage inspiration with modern reliability. Designed and built with precision, the AS Vocoder brings the distinctive warmth and character of classic analogue vocoding into contemporary studio environments.

This vocoder is not a digital emulation—it’s the real deal, offering 100% analogue audio paths and modulation circuits. While the AS Vocoder draws design inspiration from vintage classics of the 1970s, such as iconic vocoder units used in groundbreaking electronic music, all circuits within the AS Vocoder are original Analogue Solutions designs.

The AS Vocoder analyses the spectral content of speech or any audio signal and uses it to modulate internal oscillators or external sound sources. It provides musicians, producers, and sound designers with the legendary vocoder effect, capable of generating harmonically rich, robotic, or melodic vocal textures.

There are no gimmicks, just pure, unadulterated analogue vocoding crafted in a rugged enclosure designed for studio integration and live performance reliability. With a premium build quality that includes a solid metal case and precision-engineered components, the AS Vocoder ensures durability and consistency for years to come.

The AS Vocoder will be available as a Colossus upgrade and as a standalone unit.

A Brief Word on Vocoders

The vocoder has long been a cornerstone of electronic music, offering a unique way to merge voice and machine. First brought into the musical spotlight by Kraftwerk in the 1970s, its robotic vocal textures became part of the sonic DNA of their work. Artists like Herbie Hancock and Daft Punk later embraced vocoders as creative tools to shape melodies and rhythms, not just voices—expanding their role in music production far beyond novelty.

With 12 bands of filtering, flexible routing, and envelope follower outputs, vocoders like the AS Vocoder allow you to impose the spectral content of one signal—often the human voice—onto another, such as a harmonically rich synth tone. This creates the classic “talking synth” effect, but also opens the door to more experimental textures when fed drums, noise, or sequenced tones. The AS Vocoder makes this process hands-on, with CV options and modular access points designed for deep integration and patch experimentation.

The AS Vocoder brings this classic effect into the Analogue Solutions ecosystem with true analogue character and modern usability. Designed as a standalone unit or to integrate directly into the Colossus console, it adds a new dimension to sound design—perfectly complementing Colossus’s vast modulation and audio-routing capabilities. Whether for vocals, drums, or synth lines, the AS Vocoder opens up a new layer of sonic potential."

Introducing MESS - Multi-Effect Step Sequencer Pedal From Polyend

video uploads by Polyend

Polyend MESS: A sequenceable multi effects pedal

video upload by David Hilowitz Music

"MESS combines a powerful multi-track step sequencer with effects brimming with Polyend character – from classic modulation, delay or reverb to experimental effects never before seen in pedal form. With four fully customizable effect tracks, craft ambient soundcapes, intricate glitch sequences or even a familiar four effect chain – all moving in sync.

4 Effect Tracks
Combine four effects for every preset to create your own unique multi-effect. No limits are placed on what effect each track contains. Run a reverb into a delay or a spectralizer into two bitcrushers and create vibrant tones, suitable for any instrument.

125 Stereo Effects
Want a specralized micro-looping effect with randomized repeats? A time-shifting chorus into a reverb that slowly gets darker over time or simply a traditional modulation, delay, and Reverb chain? With over 120 effects to assign to the four tracks, MESS opens the door to the unexpected.

Why Sequence?
MESS has the sequencer power expected from a Polyend instrument. Control per-track speed and length to create polyrhythmic or polymetric sequences or use chance options to easily create complex generative effects that never sound the same twice. Instantly add movement and musicality to any effect. Reverbs bloom, delays evolve rhythmically, and modulations shift in sync with your tempo.

BlaknBlu Oscar Tria Stereo VCO Review

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"The triple featured Oscar Tria offers regular waveforms, swarming oscillations and polyphonic chord modes within a Eurorack, CV-controlled context. The stereo format offers some lovely detuning and there's some superb morphing between the waveforms. It's built on a digital platform but has a very analogue sound and workflow. Let's get into it."

Index:
Sound demo - 0:00
Intro - 4:57
Overview - 9:34
Green Mode - VCO - 12:29
Yellow Mode - Swarm - 24:32
Orange Mode - Chord - 33:45
FM - 42:16
Noodling - 46:27
Running it in Mono - 51:37
Conclusions - 56:42

"Oscar Tria packs a lot of VCO into 10HP. There are three main modes described below.

Green Mode:
A ‘traditional’ stereo oscillator. In Green Mode you get the usual three waveforms – saw, triangle and square (with variable pulse width, of course) but you can continuously vary the waveform between the three. For instance, by turning the waveform knob to be just to the saw side of triangle, you get a sound very much like the Minimoog’s ‘shark tooth’.
Green mode also gives you a square wave sub oscillator – one octave below the main oscillators – and a sub sub, two octaves below.
Oscar Tria is stereo, of course, so you can detune one oscillator for a rich stereo image – or sum the two outputs to mono and you have two oscillators with two subs, for a BIG sound.
Green mode also features through zero FM, and hard sync.

Yellow Mode:
Super-saw! And super-square! And super-triangle! With a sub (of course). Yellow mode allows you to control the number of oscillators making up the super-whatever, from one (not really super) to 24! Again, being stereo you get up to 12 oscillators in one channel and 12 in the other. Add the sub for a HUGE sound.

Orange Mode:
This is a chord engine, with 20 selectable chords. There are controls to select which chord you want and how many notes are played (over two octaves). CV control allows you to set pitch and chord independently, so you can set up a polyphonic sequence, for instance. Again, the output is stereo with detune control of one output."

Invictus M.E.G. (Massive Envelope Generator) #eurorack #synthesizer #modularsynth

video upload by Arcaico Instruments

"This is Invictus M.E.G. (massive envelope generator)
Conceived by a disturbed mind, Invictus M.E.G. goes beyond the standards of classical envelope generators.
In just 24HP of space and a depth of 35mm (including power connector) it offers
6 independent envelope generators each with:
switch to select between CYCLE, AR and ASR modes,
trigger input and manual trigger (one shot)
attack and decay controllable via CV,
envelope output and end of cycle output,
quadrature mode and combined output between two envelopes controllable via CV.
With Invictus M.E.G. you can create very complex and unusual envelopes.
In addition, we have added a trimmer on the PCB to adjust the min/max speed of each envelope. With these trimmers you can achieve very short or very long envelope times!"

Ambient Electronica w/ SP-404 MK2, MOOG SIRIN, Prophet-10 | Torus 2025-05-07 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with the ‪@RolandCoJpOfficial‬ SP‑404MKII,‪@MoogSynthesizers‬ SIRIN, and ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet‑10. A fractured rhythm underpins a simple synth arpeggio and noise‑tinged harmonies.

SP‑404MKII: Connected to the computer via USB and triggered from Ableton Live over MIDI. HADOU is assigned as the master effect. The output runs through the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II, where it’s drenched in reverb, pitch‑shifted, and glitched with micro‑loops for dramatic effect.

SIRIN: Its arpeggio is also driven by MIDI from Ableton and sent through ‪@gfisys‬ SPECULAR TEMPUS for deep shimmer reverb.

Prophet‑10: Harmonies are played via MIDI, with additional single‑note lines performed live. The signal is processed with reverb from a ‪@strymon‬ blueSky."

One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
Such A Shame by Talk Talk from the album It`s My Life (1984)
Written by Mark Hollis, produced by Tim Friese-Greene

Featured the Oberheim OB-X Synthesizer (1979)

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.

My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."
