A stereo Korg Poly 61

video upload by Craig Barnes

"As my poly 61 is now controlled by a dedicated editor, the editor hardware can be used to control a Behringer June 60 chorus, a simple mod of the June 60 to use 5v relays instead of push buttons and it can be controlled by a micro."

Kurzweil K250 (1984)

video upload by MrFirechild

"Kurzweil K250 is a legendary synthesizer from 1984 and back then it was many years ahead of its competition! It was the worlds first rompler! For those owning Fairlight and Synclaivers you were able to use orchestral sounds but you have to load them from huge floppy discs or mega expensive hard drives and it took many minutes to load a single sound! The Kurzweil K250 changed all that! With a boot time in milliseconds you now had the full orchestra in your hands within a blink of an eye! All sounds were in ROM and instantly available. Despite the samples were all in mono and almost no velocity layers, they sounded good! And still do! Back then in 1984 you must have been really impressed to say the least! However the Kurzweil K250 was not for everyone as it was slightly expensive, around $12.000 for a basic configuration. However both the Fairlight Series II and Synclavier were way more expensive! So fair enough! How does it sound today you may ask and thats why I did this composition. Needless to say the K250 is mainly designed to play acoustic and orchestral sounds. There are only like 3 Synthesizer sounds in the machine! I used 1 in this track as an intro sound. So don't expect analog synthesizer glory when playing a K250!
The track is called Orchestral Rays and is an original composition by Mr Firechild (October 2025).
The following synthesizers were used for ALL sounds:

Echograin Tranzwave 2 Software Synthesizer Inspired by the Ensoniq Fizmo

Introducing Tranzwave, a powerful wavetable Synthesizer, inspired by an unsung hero from the late 90’s: The Ensoniq Fizmo.

The flexible modulation engine, coupled with creative editing and randomization features, simplifies the creation of new, innovative sounds. Tranzwave brings all the wavetables from the Fizmo into the modern age for new creative explorations. With its user-friendly interface, Tranzwave provides complete control over wavetable and effect controls, making the creation of new sounds both fun and easy.

Tranzwave – A Tribute to Fizmo’s DNA

In the late 1990s Ensoniq pioneered “Transwaves”, a unique form of wavetable synthesis notably featured in their Fizmo synthesizer. Unlike earlier forms of wavetable synthesis, which could sometimes produce more static or stepped sounds, Ensoniq’s technology facilitated fluid transitions between different waveforms within a wavetable.
This innovation led to the creation of evolving, dynamic soundscapes. Ensoniq’s approach allowed for a more seamless and organic morphing of sounds, enabling musicians to craft rich, textured audio experiences that changed over time. This method offered a fresh and novel way to explore sonic possibilities, distinguishing it from the more digital and discrete transitions of previous wavetable synthesizers like the PPG Wave. Although the Ensoniq Fizmo, which utilized Transwaves, did not achieve widespread fame, its distinctive approach to wavetable synthesis marked a significant development in the evolution of electronic sound and influenced modern synthesis techniques.

Tranzwave brings this older, unique wavetable concept, known as Transwaves, into the modern era of music production. By sampling each frame of these Transwaves, Tranzwave offers a rich and dynamic sonic palette that captures the essence of these early digital synthesizers. It’s akin to having a vast library of colors and shades at your disposal, offering endless possibilities for creating new and innovative sounds.

Ambient performance on Arturia Minifreak and Linnstrument

video upload by Fedir Tkachov Music

"A friend and colleague surprised me today by bringing his Minifreak to me to play for a week or so. I tried different engines and patch ideas, and eventually this simple idea emerged - I have the hold button on, and the cycling envelope opens up the filter, forming this beautiful fake arpeggio-sequence. On the Linnstrument side of things I use one of my own patches for alpha-beta version of OB-XF by Surge Synth team."
