How to use S&H, comparators and rectifiers, feat. Worng Electronics Quiver

video upload by Tom Churchill

"This video is all about cool things you can do with some basic utilities in a modular synth. In particular, I want to explain how you can massively expand the sonic range of a basic oscillator with a few simple tricks. I’ll show you a couple of ways to use sample & hold, both at audio rates and for more subtle ‘humanising’ modulation. I’ll explore using a rectifier to create octave-up copies of simple shapes and to transform basic waveforms in more radical ways. I’ll go into extreme PWM territory with a comparator, as well as using it for some pitch-dependent switching to spice up sequences. And I’ll show you how you can use analogue logic processing to turn a mono oscillator into a stereo one."

Chapters:
00:00 Intro & patch previews
02:59 Downsamling audio with S&H
06:01 S&H for subtle random modulation
09:00 Octave doubling with a rectifier
13:17 Rectifier as an extreme waveshaper
17:30 Enhanced PWM with a comparator
21:18 Comparator as a switch controller
23:38 Analogue logic as a stereo-iser

Antonus 2600 - Test Drive 2

video upload by Tumeni Knobs

Part 1 here

"This is an extended version of the patch I created for the Antonus 'Patch Challenge'. The 90 second version was featured on their social media sites. :-) I really enjoyed listening to this patch and messing around with it, so thought I should record a longer version. This is a combination of generative and performance patching in that I could let it run for hours and it would be dynamic enough to listen to in the background, but it also was good fun to actively mess around with.

The hardware is the Antonus 2600 DIY version, with the Antonus SidecARP Eurorack expansion case, the Arturia KeyStep Pro and Fractal Audio VP4.

SidecARP modules are, from left to right:
ALM - Pamela's New Workout
Stochastic Instruments - Stochastic Inspiration Generator
Qu-Bit - Surface
Addac - Swell Physics
Molten Modular - Motion MTR
Black Corporation - Deckard's Voice
Make Noise - Mimeophon
Qu-Bit - Nautilus,
ALM - S.B.G Pro
Roland - 531 Mixer

KSP provides a clock signal to PNW and the five step "anchor" arpeggio to the 2600 Osc 1. SIG provides three separate sequences to ARP Osc 3, Surface and Deckard's Voice. The notes are based on the Dm scale. 2600 Osc 2 is LFOing the Cutoff. 2600 Noise is randomly mixed in for added texture. VP4 is used for some subtle flanger and reverb on the 2600 (through the S.B.G. Pro), but I also mix in some clock-sync'd panning and some delay. Surface goes into Nautilus and Deckard goes into Mimeophon. All mixed together in the Roland 531 mixer. Recorded on iPhone 12 Max through an iRig Pro from 531 line outs."

Filtered Synths, Tape Loop Noise & Dub Techno Atmosphere | Onset 2025-11-13 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"This piece was created using the ‪@NovationTV‬ Circuit, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and a tape loop. It blends filtered synths, delayed drum patterns, and field recordings into a dub-techno soundscape.

On the OP-1 field, vocal samples are used to create chord tones that are looped with the ENDLESS sequencer. The filter is opened and closed at various points to alter the timbre. Reverb is added through the ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY, where the HIGHCUT filter is also adjusted to shape the tone.

A cassette player ‪@WeAreRewind1‬ holds a one-minute endless tape containing field recordings captured in a park. These sounds are processed with ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII and LOSSY, adding micro-loops, reverb, filtering, and textures between noise and ambience.

The Circuit plays the rhythm pattern. Its built-in filter is manipulated during performance, and additional delay is applied using the ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE.

VoxModula TipTop Buchla Demos

video uploads by VoxModula Archives

Playlist:

1. Polyrhythmic Motion – TipTop Audio Buchla 245t / 281t
A 4-minute modular improvisation exploring the interaction between The Tiptop Audio Buchla 245t and the 281t — where sequential voltage triggers envelopes, generating evolving polyrhythms and shifting patterns.

Recorded live, no overdubs, no post-processing.

Modules used:
• TipTop Audio Buchla 245t Sequential Voltage Source
• TipTop Audio Buchla 281t Quad Function Generator
• TipTop Audio Buchla 258t Dul Oscillator

Part of VoxModula Archives — a growing collection of modular sound fragments and explorations.

🎧 Best experienced on headphones.
2. Tiptop Buchla + Strymon El Capistan Live Modular Loop Performance / VoxModula #02
A live modular improvisation exploring the Strymon El Capistan as a looping delay.

The sound slowly folds into itself — echoes become layers, layers become memory.

Recorded in one take.
No editing, no overdubs.
3. Exploring FM Synthesis on Tiptop Buchla 258t + 259t | Live Patch Talk
In this video I explore FM synthesis on the Tiptop Buchla 258t and 259t, using the 245t sequencer to modulate pitch and rhythm, and the 266t for random voltages. It’s a li

ve patch talk — I build the sound and explain what happens in real time, fit's my first video like, hopefully you will like it.

Let me know if you would be interested in more videos like this.
If you want the audio files and detailed photos of the patch please reach out and I can send them to you.

🎛️ Modules used:
• Tiptop Buchla 258t Dual Oscillator
• Tiptop Buchla 259t Complex Oscillator
• Tiptop Buchla 245t Sequential Voltage Source
• Tiptop Buchla 266t Source of Uncertainty

🎧 Patch focus: FM synthesis, modulation routing, random CV and sequence interaction.
And two featuring Moog for good measure:

Playlist:

1. Short Ambient Moog Grandmother Performance (40s Demo)
A short ambient performance using the Moog Grandmother, exploring smooth analog tones, slow modulation, and spatial delay textures.

Recorded live in one take — with external effects, Zoom Ms-70 CDR, Grandmother’s raw sound shaped into a soft, floating atmosphere.

🎛️ Gear used:
• Moog Grandmother (analog synth)
• Internal spring reverb & Zoom Ms70 CDR delay
2. VoxModula Archives – The Beginning of an Archive
Hi, this is the first video of VoxModula Archives. VoxModula is an ongoing collection of sonic fragments — recordings where synthesis meets the quiet presence of the surrounding world.

Each piece is an observation of sound as a living material: unstable, imperfect, shaped by voltage and time.

The project does not aim to perform or entertain, but to document the space between intention and accident — where tone becomes memory, and noise becomes evidence of existence.

These works are presented without manipulation or spectacle, as if retrieved from an open archive of moments.

Nothing here is fixed.
Everything breathes.

11/12/25 Roland (RYK) System 100m & RE-301 + Peavey 1300 + Alesis MIDIVERB II + Paia 6740 + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"The left RYK Modular 185 sequencer is gating the right RYK 185. The right RYK 185 CV output controls the pitch of the left Roland 110 VCO and modulates the right 110 VCA. The 140 lower envelope controls the left 110 VCA. The upper 140 envelope controls the right 110 VCA. The left RYK 185 gate output is modulating the 140 LFO, and that LFO is modulating the left 110 filter and the right 110 VCO slightly. The 150 LFO is modulating the right 110 filter and the left 110 VCA. The left 110 audio output goes to the Roland RE-301 for tape echo, with the intensity set at the threshold of feeding back, and that signal is panned left on the Mackie Onyx 1640, with spring reverb from the Paia 6740, stereo reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II (preset 27), and a larger stereo reverb blended on the CXM 1978. The right 110 audio output goes to the Peavey 1300 delay and is panned center on the Mackie, with the same three reverbs."
