MiniMoog Model D - Oscillator Revision Boards SN 11877

via this auction

"This synth was owned at one time by Carding Cruz, Jr., a well-known keyboardist from the Phillipines. His name is still lightly visible on the wooden strip beneath the control panel.

All analog synths (esp. MiniMoogs) have their own unique character and sound - this one is marvelous, fat and full, with a nice 'bite' to it."

Serial Number 11877

Just prior to this post, I was curious how many revisions of the Minimoog oscillator board existed. I checked to see if anyone on the Analog Heaven mailing list knew and received the following replies.

"At least three:
1. Discrete - on the early RA Moogs and maybe some others.
2. Mostly discrete with 3046 array + temp co resistor
3. Op-amped with heated uA726 array (after s/n 10175)

The additional octave buffer board was added towards the end of the second revision.

Tony
www.oakleysound.com"

Followed by:
"- Orignal osc board (2N4058 expo) up to SN 1236
- Second osc board (CA3046 expo) from SN 1237 to 10174
- Third osc board (ua726 expo) from SN 10175 onward

I'd guess that over half the CA3046 boards have been replaced by ua726 boards but that is pure speculation.

Circuit Skills: Perfboard Prototyping

YouTube via makemagazine | June 24, 2010 | 8:37

"When you think - "DIY electronics", one of the first images that likely comes to mind is a bunch of parts and wire soldered to a standard piece of perforated circuit board - and that makes sense. Perfboard is super-versatile - essentially it's just a grid of potential solder-point connections. You can trim it down to just the size you need - or leave extra space for future enhancements ... or revisions, if need be."

"Its alright"

YouTube via TheSynthFreq | June 23, 2010 | 4:41

"Hi! :)
This is a new composition written 6-19-10.
We have a special guest joining us, our best friend Rachel is performing the synth strings patch using the Roland D-50 (original patch) controlled through the Roland A-90. She has only played synths for 4 DAYS, she's awesome!! :)
Crystal (msMotif6) is playing the Motif6, the organ, cymbals, and synth patch are played by her.
I am playing the lead on the Roland Alpha Juno-1. The track on the Motif6 , the Rhodes, and the drums were written and sequenced by me. :)

Please enjoy!! :)

:) TSF MsMotif6 and Rachel"

DOUP 1, 2, 3 Musical Machines

flickr set by armenws (click for more)
"Doup1 (top right) being used for the speaker. The voltage levels of the DOUP2 and 3 are too hot for it to handle. Each one has a speaker now, and the Doup2 even has a modular feedback mic on the plugbank.

Also I might add the mixer bottom right was found at the Vancouver Flea Market for the reasonable price of 15$. And it works. What are the odds...

Top left is a little blue box that just has a few 100k potentiometers, resistors, and converts phone plugs to the phono more common audio plugs that the mixer is fitted for. Needed something to adapt the plugs.

DOUP3 (top-center-left) has a lot of voltage range, more than DOUP2.

Also more speed variation since I put in a 100k pot parallel with the 1m pot (the flipswitch next to the blue patch cord taps it in). So it can go very slow to very fast.

Now I just need to put in a volume control for the built-in speaker. It's deafening."

Roland System 100m + SCI Pro One + Oberkorn Analogue Sequencer

YouTube via rezfilter — June 23, 2010 — "The Oberkorn analog sequencer is controlling the Roland 100m's filter and amplifier and creating a pseudo-noise hi-hat and snare (CV B). The Pro One's accepting a CV IN from the Oberkorn, as well as a FILTER IN to control the filter amount via the third row of CV (Oberkorn, CV C). The bassline on the Pro One was dialed in via Oberkorn row CV A.

No F/X or outside gear used (dry), only the unprocessed analog machines.

YouTube audio limitations have stunted the output of the 100m's hi-hats - audible aliasing is present."

"I just received my new cabinet with the 250e and 227e yesterday. I have only scratched the surface of the sequencer, but I can tell is is very deep and fairly intuitive once you get past a couple of confusing spots. I love this system. I am still amazed by the complexity and variety of sounds one can extract from a single 261e oscillator."
