A live, semi-improvised synth jam performed entirely on hardware.

The Moog One has become my end-of-day synth, where I just sit down and play for comfort. That ends up shaping the music itself, I think, and definitely is where this song emerged. I started with something ambient and melancholy, but I knew I wanted it to get huge.

Using the Moog One's multiple timbres, I made a pad, motif, and bass sound, and sequenced it all internally. For some extra oomph, I added my eurorack drum setup, which is sounding even better now that the Endorphin.es Ghost got a firmware update to improve filter and add sample rate reduction.

I couldn't get the Moog One to send clock out to the eurorack drums, so I had both synth and drums free running at the same tempo. I was happy they didn't drift too much!

And toward the end, I realized I needed another timbre for melody/lead, so I added the Subsequent 37. It's still one of my absolute favourites; it just has "that sound." The Microcosm adding some nice character to the melody, as well.

"We will show you how to utilize these features in the context of 2 tracks by @trentemollerOfficial called Miss you and Moan. Trentemøller's music is known for extensive use of bitcrushing effects.
His tracks fit really well into the long, dark winters, characterised by imperfections and somewhat broken character of the sound, so we just had to try and recreate it and process it using our Ghost eurorack effect module.

I picked up the Oxi One not so long ago and have been excited to finally get it on the table. It didn't disappoint! Here, I'm using four different types of sequencing (monophonic, polyphonic, generative, and chord) for the four different synth instruments, all on the same sequencer. On top of that, the Oxi One's diatonic transposition (called "HARMON" scale mode) has the chord sequencer controlling the transposition of two of the other sequencers, so that the bass and melody play along with the chords. It's a fast and fun sequencer that also feels physically sturdy and great (except for the larger pad buttons for me). Plus it's battery powered! Definitely a sequencer that works for me.

A few other notes on gear here:

The MiniFreak and MicroMonsta 2 continue to be great, and can play a few types of roles in a setup while also being compact.

I got the Tetra in a trade, because I was curious, and I actually think it'll be a great multi-timbral solution for setups with the Octatrack or other sequencers. More with it soon, hopefully!

The Endorphin.es Ghost is really working for me. Moments after I recorded this video, they released a firmware update that greatly improves the filter, plus adds signal-rate- and bit- reduction, which sound great and are super useful. It's a great all-in-one effects unit.

Caterina Barbieri is an Italian composer who explores themes related to machine intelligence and object oriented perception in sound through a focus on minimalism.

Following 2017's acclaimed 2LP "Patterns of Consciousness", "Ecstatic Computation" is the new full-length LP by Caterina Barbieri. The album revolves around the creative use of complex sequencing techniques and pattern-based operations to explore the artefacts of human perception and memory processes by ultimately inducing a sense of ecstasy and contemplation. Computation is turned from being a formal, automatic writing technique into a creative, psychedelic practice to generate temporal hallucinations. A state of trance and wonder where the perception of time is distorted and challenged.

Equally nervous and ecstatic, the fast permutation of patterns can create a state where time stands still whilst simultaneously being in motion. Is this propulsive music moving forward or backward? On paper, Ghost is like a console channel strip where you'll find EQ, compression, sidechaining and outboard gear for saturation, distortion, excitement, delay and reverb. A professional console can change the route between components with the touch of a button. Ghost can do that too, but the Ghost is only 16 HP. In real life, Ghost is a creative powerhouse. It can be used for 'in case' audio engineering (enhance your final mix) and used creatively by pushing the components beyond their limits. The volume knob is designed to give you 25% modeled analog distortion (creamy) instead of digital clipping (ugly). I tried to get it into feedback, but there's no internal noise. Superbooth 22: Endorphin.es - Ghost Air Streamer and Running order

Andreas showed us the Ghost multi-fx processor developed in collaboration with Andrew Huang which is a processing unit without fixed structure allowing intuitive creation of astonishing and ephemeral timbres, from atmospheric rumbles to heavy or distorted textures. Based on the new generation ARM Cortex - M7 processor with 96 kHz 32 bit internal processing, It is extremely flexible and is inspired by Andrew's production techniques.

Running Order is a 2 track trigger sequencer and euclidean generator that can be a precise master clock or manipulate incoming clock signal and works great as a sub-sequencer/divider.

Finally there is the Airstreamer 4, a slimline version of the original A D and A S R looping function generator.
