"Beautiful instrument. MS series expander. Something like preset MS-10 with cv/gate, guitar or wind controller. It has a resonance control modification. Watch the video to get the picture of it's complete potential - when working. Unfortunately this one stopped tracking cv input and I didn't fix it so now it has to go. It powers up, leds are flashing, sound is coming out and you can change presets but you you can't play it with cv/gate (Hz/v). Don7t know about wind controller. Sold as is for repairs."

TRAX RS-1 Rota-Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

The Rota Synth RS-1 is a desktop 8-step analogue sequencer, coupled with a monophonic, true analogue synthesizer. It does not use a keyboard like a conventional synth, but instead generates musical sequences and sound effects that you program in real time.

Made in 2010 by TRAX (Trax Controls), the same manufacturer of the famous Retro Wave R-1.

Super rare synth, in excellent condition for its age, the only one for sale in the world !
Use it to create rapidly repeating musical phrases, grungy riffs, retro computer game effects, rolling basslines, off-the-wall rhythmic patterns, dub sirens, weird sci-fi effects, plus sounds yet undiscovered....

No clumsy menus to wade through - just switch on and go. You get full, hands-on control via knobs and switches.

Doepfer Product Announcements for SUPERBOOTH21

via Doepfer

"Superbooth 2021 is just around the corner. The Superbooth team around Andreas Schneider managed it with their hygiene and safety measures that the event can happen and personal contacts are possible again. The Superbooth takes place from 15 to 18.09.2021 in Berlin. More information is available at the Superbooth Website. We plan to present these new products and would be happy to welcome you at our booth (presumably B047 in the 'Bungalow-Dorf')."

Left: (A-100PB with a keyboard built into the lid, 37 keys, midi interface with 3.5 mm stereo jack socket)

This is the "small brother" of the monster base A-100PMB. It is very similar to the A-100PMB but has only half the width (2 x 84 HP for installation of modules). The suitcase versions A-100P6 or A-100P9 can be positioned on top of the A-100PB because the width of the A-100PB is a bit more than the width of A-100P6/P9 and the footprint of the A-100PB is adapted to the depth of A-100P6/P9. A-100PB is equipped with one power supply (1200mA) and two bus boards. The bus boards are located in the rear area (even those for the modules that are mounted in the front row). This was necessary to take advantage of the full height of the front area for installation of A-100 modules.

"Massively fun and tweakable synth so many live switching and routing options it demands to be played... This synth is a classic... a lesser known classic... the closest thing i can compare it to is the MS20 but it is a very different beast than the MS (it doesn't squeal) in the right hands its a beast... Duophonic it has CV and GATE (Hz/v s-trig) for each oscillator... then you get 2 of everything with interesting rerouting options... external in... opens up more possible fun... I lost hours testing this thing... its hard not to get something intersting out of this thing! Please note this is Hz/v s-trig CV control... I tested it with an Arturia beatstep pro (arturia is good for Hz/v) Tested CV and GATE ins and both working fine and seperately together!!! 2 lines 2 filters 2 envelopes I perfer to use just gate triggers and play the keyboard live because the live controls are a breeze!"

Studio Electronics Eurorack Modules

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

Note auction links are affiliate links. See the site's privacy policy for more info.

"What's nice about our OSCILLATION stunner (according to Tim) "is that the waveforms are DC-coupled [components connected directly together without any coupling capacitors], so they keep their shape even at sub-Hz speeds. The outputs are also buffered, so the amplitude is independent of the load they are driving. The waveform levels on some modern eurorack OSCs are often all different, and they vary depending if they go into the mixer or directly to the filter!" Coupling the circuitry without capacitors in-line gives the go-ahead for the full spectrum of frequencies to do their thing, and ensures near identical response over the years—audiophile, transistor-protecting signal path stuff here. You should see these beauts on the scope: a Class-A ballet of balance and proportion, only drawing modest current, rather evenly from plus and minus."

Analogue Systems - RS-95e

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The RS95 is a premium, british sounding VCO with waveshaping possiblities.

It is based on the RS90 but has more features, predominantly a very special sine wave. The RS95e presented here is technically identical but instead a normal frequency control it features a gorgeous, lockable (!) potentiometer with ten turns. That allows precise fine tune control and adds the look of an EMS synthesizer to the VCO. The RS95e has three audio outputs: pulse, triangle and sine. The upper shape control affects the pulse width. The lower shape control not only morphs from a falling sawtooth over triangle to a rising saw (or: ramp) but simultaneously alters the sine wave and produces a kind of smoothed, softer sawtooth. Additionally the saw/sine output is a CV-INPUT for the symmetry of the sine. Very extraordinary feature that all are voltage controllable. The oscillator sync is ?soft? and not only reacts to square waves but works with all waveforms. The frequency control has three switchable modes: STD (standard) with a range of two octaves. -2 is two octaves lower than STD. WIDE mode gives a range from 0.3 Hz - 17kHz and thus allows use of the RS-95 as VC-LFO with waveshaping options! The ?vary? control not only attenuates but also can amplify the pitch CV. It controls linearly from 0V over 1V/oct to 0.4 V/oct."

2019 Meets 1979 - Volca Modular Through Korg Ms10

video by ChrisLody

"Apologies that this is a bit long and self indulgent, I was having way to much fun here. This is something I've been meaning to try for a while, running the Volca Modular through the Korg Ms10 via a prototype breadboard. I don't have a modular system (yet) but it turns out this is a great way to have some fun. The Modular and the Ms10 are from totally different eras obviously and don't even appear to be compatible. The Ms10 uses the Hz/V for it's oscillators and S-Trigger to trigger it's envelope, meaning when the input receives a ground pulse it is triggered. The Volca Modular uses it's own weird 0.5v/Oct pitch standard so CV from the VM to the Ms10 is not possible, and uses the more conventional triggering method of positive pulses triggering it's envelopes. Luckily though connecting the output pulse of Function 1 is completely reversed and is a gate not a trigger so will even preserve note length so this is used to trigger the Ms10 envelope. The Volca Modular can convert incoming voltages into it's standard but that does not include the Hz/V standard unfortunately, so I'm just running the audio out into the Ms10 and using the raw oscillator outputs as audio rate modulators. Also we can use the noise output routed to the VM as a noise source.

So the top 2 sections of the video were recorded at the same time along with the sync out from the VM into Reaper. I then recorded the bottom 2 sections while the sync pulse plays back into the VM so it all syncs up.

In the top half I'm running audio to the Ms10's input from the VM, triggering the envelope from the VM's Function 1 which controls the envelope routed to the filter. The noise output on the Ms10 is fed back to the VM and i'm using the LFO output on the Ms10 to control the length of Function 2.

The bottom half of the video has the output of LPG1 routed to control the filter which gives us some tasty filter FM. Also the raw output of one of the VM's source oscillators is routed to the oscillator frequency also giving some nasty sounding FM tones. Additionally I have a modded Fab Echo pedal set up which is a pretty cool delay, much nicer than the stock echo it used to make.

I'm sure there's much more to explore here so this will probably pop up again soon I imagine. Once I've fully explored this I'll make a tutorial. I imagine this would work on an Ms20 too.

Life blog bit: I had my first Astra Zeneca jab yesterday and it was pretty nasty. I got the jab at 4.30pm, went to bed at 11.30pm shivering uncontrollably then woke up feeling like I'd been beaten with hammers all night. It took until about 11.00am until I had the energy to get up and I'm still not quite right at 3.30pm the day after. Apparently the second dose is worse. Not looking forward to it now!"

GSE KVP Pitch Calibration Procedure w/ Korg MS-20 + Keystep Pro

gstormelectro

"Audio + Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2021

In this video I will be showing how to calibrate my KVP (Korg Voltage Processor) module.
While I test and calibrate the tuning of all modules, re-calibration may become necessary when the settings get too far out of whack.
I will give some helpful tips as well as a detailed step-by-step explanation of the calibration process.

This video is of a technical nature.
If you're wanting basic information about the KVP and its uses, be sure to check out my other video [posted here]

Timestamps
0:00 Intro, Helpful Tips, Setting Up the Keystep Pro
KEYSTEP PRO: Global Setting CV Base Note = C-2
2:28 V/OCT to Hz/V Calibration
Be sure to trim FREQ with the "low C" note
And trim WIDTH with the "high C" note.
7:01 Hz/V to V/OCT Calibration
Be sure to trim FREQ with the 'A' note
And trim WIDTH with the "high C" note

Keep in mind the KVP is an analog signal converter, controlling an analog MS-20 synthesizer.
And when converting Hz/V to V/OCT, we may be also using the MS-20 to control yet another analog VCO device.
Given these things, the pitch won't be absolutely perfect - but the base frequency and tracking should be well within musically acceptable margins."

Feed External VCOs into the Korg MS-20 Synth using KVP [Quick Tip]

gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2020

Quick Tip using the KVP to send external VCOs into the MS-20.
KVP stands for Korg Voltage Processor, and is derived from the vintage MS-02 voltage processor no longer in production.
As you're already aware, you can use KVP to convert eurorack pitch (v/oct) to the Korg standard (hz/v).
And use your sequencer to control the MS-20....

But what about the other (Korg hz/v)-to-(Euro v/oct) pitch converter?
Sure! Use the MS-20 to control your eurorack VCOs.
Take it only one step further to send the external VCO output INTO the
MS-20 external input.
To add more VCOs to the MS-20 oscillators for big fat sound.
I will show you how to patch it up.
It works for the vintage MS-20, the MS-20 Mini reissue as well as the Behringer K-2.
And any manufacturer synth using the Hz/v standard.

Some shaky cam footage, I threw this one together in haste...but don't hate :D Hit that LIKE, COMMENT & SUBSCRIBE now.

Some fx added
Delay: Timefactor
Reverb: Big Sky

KVP and many other cool eurorack modules are available in my Reverb Store

Yamaha CS20M synth being sequenced by Elektron Analog Keys

conor paxton

"A vintage Yamaha CS20M analog synth being sequenced using cv/ gate via an Elektron Analog Keys. Such an amazing synth, I have read online that you cant sequence it because it has weird Hz/v scaling. Well Thats not true at all, as this video shows. It does have a different Hz/v scaling compared to korg. the difference is the first octave is achieved from 125mV - 250mV, the second is 250-500,
It has so many features that i am not showing here...this clip is to show that it can be sequenced.
Using a little bit of delay from a Lexicon PCM 81 and a kick from the analog keys."
