video upload by Miles Away

"Buy these 50 Custom Patches for the intro price of only $25:
https://shop.milesawayofficial.com/pr...

These 50 custom patches will load to 450-499 on your Dave Smith / Sequential Prophet 6. These patches range in all genres from Classic Analog, Synthwave, EDM, Film Score, Ambient and more. Every patch has a custom sequence programmed by me as well, so click “play” on the sequencer to get an idea of what the patch would sound like in context of a song! Enjoy this no talking sounds demo.

Note: While these patches make use of many of the Prophet 6’s excellent effects, most don't use the onboard reverb. In this demo, I am using the Empress Reverb, so I strongly encourage you to add your favourite reverb to these patches! Also your Prophet 6 must be updated to the latest firmware to use these patches as they make use of the vintage knob update!

Miles Away: Why I Love the Sequential OB-6

video by Miles Away

"Over the last several years, the prevailing mentality in synthesizer design has been 'more features = better'. The Sequential OB6 is a synthesizer that follows a much different mantra for development, one of 'character over features'. After 2 months of learning this synth inside and out, I'm finally ready to talk about it with you. Get the tissue box ready, this synth hits you in the feels."

Zinc 80 Meter CW Transmitter, Actual Sound Heard From Various Distances.

YouTube via nylesteiner. yes that Nyle Steiner. follow-up to these posts.
"More info is available at http://www.sparkbangbuzz.com

This is an update to the previous video "Zinc Negative Resistance 80 Meter CW Transmitter". In the previous video, the sound of the transmitter at 5 miles was simulated. This update plays the actual sound of the transmitter as recorded on video from various distances up to 5 miles.

K7NS builds a very simple 80 meter cw qrp transmitter made out of a homemade zinc negative resistance diode. This simple radio transmitter is made without using any vacuum tubes or transistors, and it's ultra low power of 100 microwatts can be easily heard 5 miles away.

Thanks to W9RAN for his contribution of using a quarts crystal in place of an LC circuit."

Bask in the analog synth majesty of the Korg Trident Mk.1

video upload by Mamotreco

"As the sun rises over majestic hilltops and mountains, the nippy morning air is rich with the sound of musical tones. It's the harmonious melody of a Korg Trident synthesizer. The analog warmth reverberates through the images of valleys and mountains, perfectly complementing the stunning natural landscapes of the north east areas of Spain. #vintagesynths #korgtrident #80ssynth

The Korg Trident Mk.1 synthesizer is a wonderful analog polysynth, crafted in the 80s to produce a variety of rich sounds. Its three analog synth sections, each with its own distinct tone and controls, blend together to create powerful sounds that can evoke lush and complex sonic landscapes.

With images of nature appear on screen, the sound of the Korg Trident Mk.1 takes on a life of its own in relation to the beauty of the surroundings on display. The warm and inviting analog synth tones of the Korg Trident underline beauty of the surrounding images of wilderness beside it.

Terrassa is the city at the foot of these mountains with a population of 200,000 people, 12 miles away from Barcelona. Highlights of the city include:
- shopping mall 'Parc Vallès'
- people walking around
- olympic stadium with CaixaBank cashpoint not too far away
- parking space
- largely rocky mountain massif next to city, aka Sant Llorenç natural park
- lottery ticket booths
- some museums so you can learn more about the city

The Korg Trident Mk.1 is the synth for all seasons and settings. Its sound is equally at home in the shadow of chilly mountains as it is in the verdant fair-weather hills of spring and summer. No matter the time of year or location, the Korg Trident's analog warmth and organic sound complements your personal vision of nature.

FIGHT & FLIGHT / full system generative 'horror' patch / singing bowl research / farewell Steven

video upload by BRiES

"I started this patch by trying to mimic the tone and frequency beating of a Tibetan singing bowl. Triangle waves seem to be the best match for generating the 'odd' overtones. I used two of them tuned almost to the same frequency to produce a slow beating. One is panned left and one is panned right. I had to run this pair through a LPF to get rid of a lot of the top end fizz.

The other sounds are a bunch of resonating filters and VCOs through Beads tuned up a major 7th with a lot of wet grains fed back to the input. There's some automation going on in terms of gating these, controlled by an output of COMPARE 2 (analyzing ORBIT 3) through a counter (ERFURT).

This week (29th of october) Steven (one of the residents of a farm sanctuary) passed away after a long and hard fight. It's weird and confusing how these events thousands of miles away can still hit you. RIP Steven."

Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave - I Almost Missed the Synth of the Decade

video upload by JimDaneker

"I thought the 3rd Wave was a mere PPG clone so I ignored it. After seeing a few compelling videos on it, I took a chance on one. After pre-judging it based on presets, I almost returned it. SO glad I gave it another chance - it has blown me away. Don't miss this one!

Dubspot First Look: The Propellerhead PX7 FM Synthesizer

Dubspot First Look: The Propellerhead PX7 FM Synthesizer In Reason 6.5 w/ Chris Petti

Published on Jan 10, 2013 DubSpot·387 videos

Pic of the massive Jellinghaus DX7 hardware knob laden editor at :53.

More info: http://bit.ly/X3rh1F

"Recently Propellerhead approached me about designing some sounds for a new FM synthesizer in Reason. As you may recall from some of my previous video tutorials, I showed you how to create an FM synth out of several Thors and a Combinator. The purpose was to demonstrate how to get some of the more modern, edgy FM sounds that we associate with dubstep and electro.

Although my method for creating FM sounds this way worked, Propellerhead have made this easier now with a new FM synthesizer engine, the PX7, now available as a Rack Extension for Reason 6.5. The PX7 is a true six-operator FM synth with some dazzling math behind it, resulting in a replica of the Yamaha DX7, the first commercially available FM synth from the early 1980s.

Just so you all know, the DX7 and I didn't have a great relationship when we first met. I first encountered it in the labs at Berklee when I was studying music synthesis. It was a million miles away from what I wanted to achieve soundwise. I was very into the big, fat, warm analog sounds that I was hearing in all the drum'n'bass tunes I was into at the time. The DX7 was also difficult to program at first. It didn't make sense to me and was really tedious. It had a very small display that required you to scroll through dozens upon dozens of parameters to create and edit a sound. More importantly to me at the time, it was seemingly not capable of producing the analog sounds I was into.

Years later, after a revival in software form, FM synthesis has found a very special place in my heart. I now find it to be very exciting as I am now very clear on what I can and can't do with it. I have developed an appreciation for the highly detailed and exotic sounds that FM can produce. So I hope you all enjoy and appreciate the irony of this situation and my love/hate relationship with FM throughout the years. Most importantly, I hope that you enjoy the lesson in the PX7 and ultimately FM synthesis. - Chris Petti"

Ambient drone jam across the South Downs via modulated light beam with SH101 Crave MC101 birdsong

video upload by drone-in-the-woods

"Original drone jam in Brandy Hole woods with SH101 and Crave. The Crave was triggered using the 101's internal sequencer and this was the recording with all the birdsong.

The audio from this session was then transmitted the following day, via light, from Butser Hill to the Trundle, 12 miles away. The audio modulates the intensity of a bright red LED and a lens is used to form a beam. The white flashing light on the Trundle is the locator for the LED transmitter, once the LED is pointing towards the white light, the scope is used to align the receiver's photo diode. The output from the photo diode is then converted to audio and played through the Cube. This was recorded live with additional sounds from the MC101.

Future plan is to build a couple of two-way transmitters/receivers, so that light-speed communication can be established between the hilltops. Greater distances are being tested too.
