"An ambient synth track paying tribute to the Tangerine Dream style of the early 80s. Layering both an analog hardware synthesizer and virtual software instruments. Peaceful sequences intertwine with resonant flourishes anchored by a woolly bassline.

SoundForce introduces MIDI controller for u-he’s Repro-1 plugin

"SoundForce presents a new model to its dedicated USB-MIDI controllers product line: the SFC-1, a controller especially designed for the fantastic u-he’s Repro-1 plugin.

Features
With a whopping total of 51 pots, 41 slide switches and 6 tactile switches, you can control every single MIDI-mappable parameter of the plugin in analog fashion. The awesome effect chain is also fully-covered on the bottom section of the controller.

Every control is assigned to a default CC number, but that can be changed using our control panel app in Google Chrome. A shift button unlocks an alternative channel for each pot, allowing you to control potentially 51 extra parameters. Even more user-specific controls are possible with the extra set of user-assignable switches and pots.

Build quality
The enclosure is made of 100% sheet metal. The case is made of bent steel and powder coated in black. The front panel is aluminium, also powder coated and screen printed with scratch-proof white ink. Please note that the final product will have a plain black powder coat, not structured like the pictures are showing. Discrete and minimalistic wooden pieces of 6 mm thickness are added to the sides. Dimensions are: 380 mm x 173 mm x 55 mm (Length x Width x Height).

The SFC-1 is a boutique controller manufactured in small batches in the Netherlands. A lot of operations are still performed by hand and automation is used when possible to improve quality and processes.

The controller will start to ship in June. "A simple demo of two or three different patches I like on the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet Rev2. These are factory presets which I have modified slightly. No external effects used here - this is the Rev2 by itself recorded with OBS. I'm using the 16 voice model which is great for stacking voices.

The bass line halfway through the video is from repro 1 vst, not from the rev2."

U-He Repro 5 vs Prophet 5

"U-he Repro 5 vs Prophet 5 rev 3.3.

Low keyboard is Repro 5. Higher is P5. They are sounding pretty damn close. It is really matter of if you're synth nerd or not :) Other way there is no reason for spending so much money for real thing. You must just love it like I do.

Differences are in details. It is not about more low end or anything like that. Resonance filter is sounding different. Repro 5 pulse oscillator is sounding like in new Prophet 5. In my Prophet 5 pulse osc didn't sound like pulse anymore. Osc B detuning sounding more aggressive. Also Prophet 5 has something more 3d in it. But Repro 5 is a genius VST. Sometimes I like sound from Repro 5 more as from Prophet. I really wish Urs Heckmann would like to make Jupiter 6, 8, Arp 2600, CS-80, RSF Kobol or any other analog synth which is very high priced or rare.

"Demo of the U-He Repro 5 softsynth plugin. These are some of my favourite presets (all stock). The Repro-5 is a clone of the SCI Prophet 5 and it sounds fantastic in my opinion. No external effects are used, so if you hear a reverb it's from the plugin itself. The Blofeld is only used as a MIDI controller, all the sounds are from the Repro-5 running on my computer.

Sorry I don't have the names of the presets. I tried to do a screen recording by half-way through it got too CPU intensive running alongside the Repro-5 so I had to shut it off cause it was affecting the sound. I'm going to try and find a better way to do this next time. But they're all stock presets so they shouldn't be too hard to find if you browse through them. I was browsing presets in the order in which they appear in the library."

U He Repro 100 Presets

"Anton Anru - A Hundred (bank of patches for U-He Repro 5)

Here is a bank of presets for a relatively new virtual synthesizer U-He - Repro-5.
It is an emulation of a legendary analog synthesizer - Sequential Circuits Prophet 5. And this emulation sounds fantastic! It’s absolutely powerful, phat, lively - just like the original synth.
The quality and the functionality of the brand new plugin immediately inspired me to start creating and saving presets, one by one. After a couple dozens of them I decided to make a complete soundset in order to share it with electronic music producers, sound designers and synth-lovers.

The bank consists of:
- 18 Leads - 0:23
- 13 Keys - 5:52
- 16 Synths - 9:15
- 15 Pads - 13:35
- 11 Plucks - 19:06
- 16 Basses - 21:22
- 11 FXs - 25:12
A hundred in total.

There are harsh, metallic, powerful sounds, as well as mild, intimate and soft ones. Some timbres are quite well-known, classic and must-have, others are experimental, unique and never heard before (supposedly). All the sounds are universal and suitable for every modern genre. It depends on your imagination.

It is strongly recommended to try every preset in different note ranges, e.g. a bass may turn into an interesting lead at higher notes; or keys may sound like bells if are played couple octaves higher.

So you get even more than 100 sounds as a patch may play different roles just because of an octave. Not to mention the Mod Wheel, that may change a sound drastically.

The built-in effects are applied in most patches, so the sounds are ready to go and may be used as they are without additional tweaking.

Each patch has a short description with my vision of how to use a patch, e.g. nice at low notes, use it for sequences or arpeggios.

Also there is some technical information, e.g. Mod Wheel influences on the brightness of the sound.

Sections «Categories», «Features» and «Character» are thoroughly filled, so you can easily find a needed sound with the help of tags.

u-he Retro 5

"There have been many attempts at creating that early wood clad Poly sound.

After a years of owning one of the originals and trying many of the emulations after I sold it, nothing really did give the same sound.

There is just something very refined, almost basic but with texture to be found in the originals that until now I just have not been able to hear! The u-he Repro 5 is quite mind blowing in its depth of sound. It has life and quirks in its sound that make the software sound like an instrument. Under the hood you can control how real or how sterile you want it to run. Quite processor hungry on some patches... but thats what it takes to create close to perfect imperfection I would say :D

The clip is a mix of both presets (some of these are very impressive and useable) and a few things that I came across as I was discovering new sounds. Some slight reverb has been added because reverb! Compressor was used to keep levels *mostly* under check :D
