CHRONOS - "Cinematic Synthesizer"ᴴᴰ

video upload by Altar Records

"All Links ► https://bnd.lc/cinematicsynthesizer

Chronos, one of the pillar artists of Altar Records is back with a new brand album recorded live on vintage synthesizers.

Synthesizers have been a big part of film music for the past 50 years.
Think Vangelis and "Blade Runner", John Carpenter and "Halloween", Daft Punk and "Tron" movies...

Nick Klimenko aka Chronos is back with a second live-played album exploring all the depths of hardware analog and digital synthesizers.

Eight hardware synthesizers from four different decades were chosen for creating an unique cinematic music atmosphere.

The synth patches were made especially for this album.
Iconic and new ones, rich analog & complex digital sounds are taken from:

Alesis Ion
Yamaha SY-77
Arturia PolyBrute
Roland D50
Kawai K5000
Korg King Korg
Arturia MatrixBrute
Korg DSS-1

Everything was played and recorded live in one take!
Nick has spent hours in his studio, practicing live playing,
sequencing patterns and harmonies, making atmospheric pads for every single piece in this release.
Then he hit the “record” button and played every song at one time.

Dedicated to Klaus Schulze (1947-2022)"

#ffs February Filter Sweep part 1 by SynthAddict

video by SynthAddict

Synths featured: Korg ARP Odyssey, DSI Polyevolver, Arturia MatrixBrute, Access Virus TI, Roland Juno-6, Kawai SX-240.

"In support of the movement against the recent YT algorithm trend of blocking/demonetizing basic synth filter sweep demos, I have made a simple collage of basic filter sweeps from different gear. Enjoy...more to come since it's early in February..
I was intending to get this done earlier but a busy work week and some computer/video tool glitches made it a rough time. All good now...
Sorry for the wonky audio/video and camerawork in parts, this was a rush job."

Note SynthAddict is the one who let us know about the #FFS YouTube protest. You can find additional details and demos here.

Tutorials Anton Anru

Published on Aug 15, 2019 Anton Anru

The playlist above features tutorials by new supporting MATRIXSYNTH member, Anton Anru. Use the player controls to skip around to what interests you.

Playlist as of this post:
1. Ableton Live Rhythm Techniques and Tips for Synth and Pad Tutorial
Creative use of Live built-in Audio Effects gives interesting results.
I intensively used the effects that have some 'rhythm' features and synced modulations.
To demonstrate them I turned a pad into a complicated synth part.

The devices used: Audio Effect Rack, Auto Filter, Auto Pan, Beat Repeat, Compressor, EQ Eight, Echo, Filter Delay, Gate, Glue Compressor, Multiband Dynamics, Reverb.
No M4L devices were used.
2. Korg Radias Vocoder and Rhythmic Pad
An example of a non-vocal vocoder use: a drum loop modulates the pad. All the details are inside the video.
3. Xfer Serum Ambient Pulsing Pad Preset
We did a huge work in order to produce this bank of presets. We sampled 15 analog synths and then turn the records into wavetables. And on the basis of these waves we created two banks of presets: Analog Dreams Vol.1 Vintage and Vol.2 Modern. Synths that were used as a source for wavetables: Arturia MatrixBrute Arp 2600 Korg MS-20 MemoryMoog Dave Smith Instruments Evolver Korg Minilogue Korg Monologue Studio Electronics ESX1 Farfisa Roland Jupiter 6 Oberheim Matrix 12 Oberheim 2 Voice Roland SH 101 Roland System 100 Roland MKS 70.

Get Analog Dreams. Vol.2 - Modern: https://sellfy.com/p/eAm9/

4. Access Virus initializes memory. Can't store presets. Battery replacement.
All my presets are gone and Virus can’t store anything anymore. The battery is dead, and this is the process of its replacement.

God, bless Mystery Islands for the Virus editor. All my presets were stored on the computer, and I've lost almost nothing.

6. A track using SoundToys Effect Rack presets
Done using the bank of presets for Effect Rack "One-Shot Extension" -it turns one-shots and short sounds into long sounding or even endless parts. The timbral changes are great as well: warm, lo-fi, dirty, noisy, cold, wide and distant colors are collected for these racks.
This soundset includes 25 presets.

Arturia Matrixbrute: Tangerine Dream Covers

Published on Sep 5, 2018 wedream2

Playlist:

1. Matrixbrute: Tangerine Dream's "Sorcerer"
11/12 tracks from Tangerine Dream's soundtrack to the movie "Sorcerer" serve as inspiration for showcasing Arturia's Matrixbrute in split mode. Each sequence is accompanied by 2 additional sounds alternately selected by modulating programmed parameters in real time. (Track 9 "Abyss" is skipped as the sequence and sounds are uninteresting compared to other tracks.)
If you are unfamiliar with Tangerine Dream's soundtrack, I recommend listening to the original first. That way you will appreciate the Matrixbrute's emulation, especially since it's a monophonic synthesizer.
2. Matrixbrute: TD sequences from Phraedra to Tangram
Another demonstration of the Matrixbrute in split mode. More excerpts from Tangerine Dream Sequences: Phraedra, Rubycon, Ricochet, Stratosfear, Cloudburst Flight, Force Majeure, and Tangram. All sounds from Matrixbrute in real time. Additional reverb added. The purpose is to show how versatile split mode can be, assigning different oscillators to the sequencer and to the lead, and using real time controls to transform the sound of the lead and sequence.
3. "Mind at Large" Tangerine Dream's Rubycon
Music slide-video interpretation of Tangerine Dream's Rubycon album. The last image (just prior to the receding universe sequence) with the unconscious astronaut lying on the ground is the clue to what the entire project is about, suggested by the title.
4. Matrixbrute: Tangerine Dream--Logos
My fourt video of Matrixbrute in split mode, borrowing sequences from Tangerine Dream. Logos is my #1 favorite TD album. It is a lot more complex than their earlier works, so it was quite a challenge. I recorded each part seperately and then pasted them together. It would take an ensemble of synthesizers to do a decent cover. Still, the monophonic Matrixbrute pulls its own weight.
5. Matrixbrute: Tangerine Dream & Chris Franke
My 5th video demonstrating Matrixbrute in split mode, using excerpts from Tangerine Dream group & solo albums. Sounds on the right side of the split are morphed using MW and expression pedal controls, demonstrating more sounds than are apparent with a monosynth. All sounds are from Matrixbrute, performed and recorded in real time. Avalanche Run reverb and delay added on some excerpts.

Soundium: Enabled - Synth Event This Weekend in Vilnius, Lithuania

This one is in via Pierre-Henri Pache.

https://soundium.lt/enabled

"About and around music technology

Soundium: Enabled fuse theory, practice and experiences in the field of music technology. Main goal of the event is to demonstrate and educate. For the first time in the Baltics a space under one roof will be dedicated to DJ/studio gear testings, lectures with brand ambassadors and performances of local geeks.

However, we think the most important part of Soundium: Enabled is its participant (YOU), coming with his/her own approach to the creative process – so the door is open to anyone, and networking is strongly encouraged. See you on October 20th.

Demo space a designated getting-your-hands-on-gear area. You can expect various equipment here, part of which will be hot & new: starting from DJ turntables, ending with modular synths, drum machines and DAW controllers. Analog Flange (Matrixbrute: "Air Raid at The End of The World")

Published on Jul 14, 2018 Kris Lennox

"Of course, try loud with cans on. This piece is both an original work and a demo of the analog flange on the MB. I've been sniffing around online, and for some reason the analog effects get a bad rep. I don't know why. If I'm missing something, do let me know. More text below if you're bored and fancy a read:

The sound is absolutely stunning. Something worth noting: it is natural for there occasionally to be some channel distortion when analog effects are driven through a signal to this level. You'll hear it at some points in the track. It isn't an over-maximised master, but part of the original signal. Personally, I don't mind it at all.

The sound itself (i.e. prior to the flange) took a few days to make. For once I actually had to save a sound!

I'm also playing to a rough guide. On the acoustic foam I have a piece of paper with cues RE direction to take the work in. Not a traditional score, of course, but more of a 'roadmap'.
