"ITEM DESCRIPTION
This x0xb0x is in 100% working order and very clean. It was built from a Willzyx kit, so all of the rare parts are original and not copies as sold by less reputable x0xb0x dealers. Yes, there is a difference and I suggest you do some research before buying any x0xb0x. I'm an experienced builder & tech, so the unit is very well built. I also installed SokkOS 1.9, which is much better than the standard OS in my opinion.

I measured all of the 2SA733 transistors before installing them and selected the highest gains for Q10 (332hFE), Q9 (315hFE), & Q8 (309hFE). If you don't know why that's important, read this. The result is a filter that cracks, warbles, and bubbles beautifully. I think it's very difficult to hear the difference between this x0xb0x and an original TB-303. I have experience with both synths. The Adafruit x0xb0x was voted the best sounding TB-303 clone by Acid Voice.

This auction includes the x0xb0x unit, AC power adapter, and a hardcopy of the Build Manual, which tells you how to test, calibrate, and tune the unit."

Somewhere Waiting

"I was going to title this:
"Here Is An Over Weight Middle Aged Man Playing '70s Space Rock On An Old School Style Modular Synthesizer That Didn't Think He Seemed Quite Geeky Enough So He Decided To Wear A Headband Video Camera Too!"
But . . . that title seemed a little too wordy so I just titled it "Somewhere Waiting" ;-)

This actually started out as two things:
1) I was going to see if the second hand Modcan diode filter has a slight power up bug or not
2) I was going to quickly try out my new Oakley Coglin VCF
And then slowly turning into "something". I wanted to take this a lot further development wise but, I couldn't spend any more time on it so I though I would just record a bunch of messing around with the patch and then edit it down to a few minutes. Instead I just threw the whole 11 minutes or so together with some video footage that was taken while my car was parked somewhere.

The lead voice is a MOTM-300 VCO through an Oakley Coglin VCF. The main repeating sequence is a Moon 569 sequencer controlling a MOTM-300 VCO through a Modcan 23B VCF AND controlling the Modcan 23B, so at the beginning and end of the peice you are just hearing the self oscillation of the VCF. The "snare drum" is pink noise through a MOTM-485 VCF and its EG is being triggered by the COTK C964 Ratchet Sequencer. The "Mellotron like" sequence that comes in occasionally is a Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer controlling two MOTM-300 VCOs through a COTK C1670 Ensemble Generator. (I'm using a MOTM-730 pulse divider and a Moon 564 sequential switch to allow it to play only every once in a while)

Thanks for watching!"

The Harmonic Series

Uploaded by EA78751 on May 15, 2011

"An electronic filter dissects a sawtooth waveform (82 Hz, pitch E) into the first twenty-four partials of the harmonic series. The waveform is displayed on an oscilloscope with annotations to indicate the harmonic relationships. One can see that by counting the number of crests in the waveform per fundamental cycle, the harmonic number is easily obtained.

Have you heard a melody played with the notes of the harmonic series? It can be a pleasant alternative to the 12-tone equal tempered octave. Which instruments are capable of this?

You can approximate the harmonic series on a chromatic instrument by playing the series of pitches listed in the right hand column over a drone note at the fundamental frequency.

You can also hear the harmonic series by whirling an open-ended corrugated tube around in a circle. These are found in some toy stores and educational science shops. Try this and you'll notice it takes more and more effort to get to the next highest overtone, despite the fact that the pitch increments are getting smaller.

A photograph is included of the voltage-controlled diode ladder filter that was used for this video. Text scanned from THE EMI WALL CHART For Musical Instrument Making. Filmed from a Tektronix 2430A digital oscilloscope.
