GetLoFi Chip Tone Generator 8 Step Random Bass Note Generator pt2. Sync with Drum machine

YouTube Uploaded by circuitmaster on Sep 9, 2011

"The Chip Tone generator can be easily synced to a Drum machine or any piece of analog gear that outputs a Trigger pulse or a clock signal. The circuit is opto isolated to prevent any damage to the main IC.

The tempo knob helps to set the note lengths for each clock beat, if the notes are too long, they will re-trigger on the next available step creating a moving bass line. Shorter notes will trigger right on the beat.

Again these units are available for sale directly through www.getlofi.com

Artwork will be added to these pedals soon."

1978 SONICA by Frank Eventoff and Serge Modular synthesizer

via this auction

"This is the unusual and strange instrument, the SONICA. Invented by Frank Eventoff, supposedly only 650 were made. (I interviewed him once for putting up a page on the Sonica on the web.) He invented a membrane-switch and created this instrument with it, before selling the switches to make McDonald's cash registers, etc. all over the world. The instrument is made from a circuit built by SERGE Modular synthesizers (see photo of circuit board) and has a warm, mellow tone. You slide your finger along the diatonic-tuned soundboard. More importantly, there are 3 control pads: Slider wobbles the pitch a little (vibrato), Tone adjusts brightness, Half-Step gives you half-step notes (as diatonic scale misses some in-between, you can get them here). The tone control doesn't do much, maybe it's waveform adjust or something, but the sound is already dark and low, like a flute, so there's not many highs to affect. It's easy and fun to play, comes with original case. "

When in Rome

YouTube Uploaded by attorks on Sep 8, 2011

"It has been a few months since my last video. I have been very busy with everything but music. Last evening I had a chance to make some music and this is the result. The sequence origins from a short piece of music I made last week on my iPhone with NanoStudio. I thought it was very nice. But trying to recreate it on my hardware setup was somewhat impossible. So I used the sequence and improvised something else on it. At first you hear the Synthesizers.com Modular driven by the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer. The second sequence, performed by the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer, comes from the Ian Fritz Teezer Through-Zero VCO which is driving the Blacet Miniwave. The sequence from the Creamware MiniMax ASB is driven by the MIDI output of the Q172 quantizer aid which I got recently and does the same sequence as the Synthesizers.com Modular. A bass line is played on the Clavia Nord Lead 1, the Roland XP-80 is emulating an Elka Rhapsody string machine (I used to own one). The brass like sound comes from the Waldorf Q Keyboard.

My friend Anne used my iPhone 4G to video this session; thanks for that. The title refers to a short holiday Anne and I had in Rome a few weeks ago. Rome is a wonderful city full of ancient history, beautiful buildings, fountains and churches. The Italian people are also very friendly and helpful. So definitively worth a visit.

You can download/see/hear the video and music from my website soon."
