ADDAC503 Marble Physics - Part II

"Newtonian physics on a modular synth! The ADDAC503 Marble Physics is a CV generator based on the mechanics behavior of a marble on a tray.

Through this realtime physics simulator you'll be able to control several parameters that will affect the behavior of a model of a spherical object against a plane. You can tilt the plane or bump the marble with a certain strength, which will cause it to roll and bounce on elastic walls.

The model will output the object's XY position or velocity and you can control other physical parameters, like the walls' elasticity or the strength of a bump. When the marble hits walls the bounce output triggers and you can additionally lock the X axis for a one dimension simulation. Finally you can also set the overall speed of the simulation.

By controlling all of these properties you be able simulate several scenarios where the marble falls, gets gently pulled by gravity, orbits indefinitely or bounces on walls like a pinball. Truly engaging physics simulations!"

Live Jam #34 - Techno / Noise / Drone - Arturia Beatstep Pro and Eurorack modular synthesizer

Published on May 17, 2016 TRM

"The power supply for my portable case arrived. I will probably experiment with some jams that might work in a minimal live setup in the future. Just a modular case and the Beatstep Pro.

All sounds are from the modular. Two basic voices: 1 - Dixie II - uFold - MMG - Linix. 2 - a143-4 - Wasp - Linix. Kick and hihat are from Peaks in drum mode. Percussion is from noise and a tri at audio rate from the a143-4 through the Make noise LxD. All drums go through the Echo for random delays. There is a slow running Tri lfo going to both the filters. And some audio rate modulation is send through attenuators to the pitch from both oscillators. Final out is mixed with the output from Clouds.

Stuff used:
Arturia Beatstep Pro and a Eurorack modular synthesizer with:

Doepfer: a-118, a-119, a-124, a-143-4, a-148, a-156, a-160-2, a-199
Intellijel: Dixie II, uFold, Quadra, 2xTriat , Linux, mult
Make noise: MMG, Lxd
Mutable instruments: Clouds, Peaks
MFB: Dual LFO
Synthrotek: Echo, Deluxe power

Audio via the Behringer mixer to a Moto Ultralite MK3 hybrid.
External effects: T.C electronics M350 for reverb.

No post processing."

New Euro Manufacturer Catalyst Audio Introduces Time’s Arrow Sequencer Eurorack Module

Published on Dec 7, 2015 catalyststudio

A new eurorack module from the recently formed Catalyst Audio. The playlist for the videos above follow. Full details on their first eurorack module, Time's Arrow, further below.

1. Times Arrow Cmin Basslines [CV/Gate/Accent to FutureRetro 777]
2. Times Arrow Video Manual Utility Mode
3. Times Arrow Vid Manual Seq Mode
4. Times Arrow Video Manual RND Submodes
5. Times Arrow Video Manual RND Mode
6. Times Arrow Video Manual Extra Features

via of Catalyst Audio:

"So.

What is it?

So at it’s most basic it is a 16 step sequencer,

It can do all of your normal sequencer functions etc...

But also-

What we think sets this apart from the other currently available sequencers out there right now (and yes there are a lot!) is it's randomization features. It was designed to basically allow you to start with randomness, and then to exert some level of control over this randomness until you start to get useable (but still unpredictable) results. A 'happy accident generator' maybe?

A very basic description would be that each step of the sequence contains information about 5 different 'events' Notes (CV value), Gate, Accent, Tie, and Slide. You can manually set up these events, like you would with a more traditional sequencer, but Times Arrow allows you to randomize any or all of these events either manually (button press) or via a trigger signal. Once a new pattern has been generated, that new pattern will continue to loop and will only be altered by another button press or trigger. Each "event" can have different probability settings, and each "event" can be set on a per step basis to be excluded from randomization.

It’s hard for me to feel like I can do justice to it in one or two paragraphs, so please check out the videos posted on our site www.CatalystAudio.com or feel free to ask me questions here and I will do my best to answer.

I will say that I have gotten some amazingly cool sequences out of this thing, stuff I probably would have never come up with on my own. (Of course I’m biased, both cause I created it and because my definition of an “amazingly cool sequence” is probably different from yours.)

It is currently available at Foxtone music right now, and should be up at Analog Haven by the end of the week.

Features
Adjustable seq length from 1 - 16 steps
Internal quantizer with 16 selectable scales
Constant time (303 style) slide
Buffered output voltages from 0 - 8v (8 oct range)
