- INFO

“The Silent Earth (end credits)” is the first single from the upcoming BURG album "The Silent Earth."

When I started writing the new album in 2018, it slowly turned into an imaginary soundtrack that began telling the tales of a silent earth, long lost friends and family, and a planet scorched deeply by the chaos it has been subjected to.

The album is heavily influenced by early 70's and 80's sci-fi movies, from back in the day when the stories were slower and took longer time to tell because they were important to the director, and set the foundation and style of the genre.

One of the missing pieces when the album got close to completion was the last track, the one that plays at the end of the movie while the end credits are rolling, the track that gives the listener a slight feeling of hope from all the despair.

I paired up with I Speak Machine for a collaboration over at their Patreon, Tara Busch lending her unique voice and aesthetics to the title track. The final result is a blend of I Speak Machine and BURG in the best way imaginable, a dystopian tune with a small shimmer of hope.

I am releasing a vinyl single with “The Silent Earth (end credits)” as the A-side. The track on the B-side, “The Quiet Earth” is exclusive to the single. The single is limited to 200 copies only, and is a special long play 7" 33rpm blue colored vinyl.

The single is available for pre-order now, the first 50 at a special discounted price.

"This is the 2nd prototype (a verification final build) I built while developing a DIY kit of a full fledged clone of the classic Sequential Circuits Pro-One synthesizer.

This unit contains the final versions of all the components and PBCs and is 100% ready to rock. Make no mistake this machine sounds EXACTLY like a vintage Pro-One. But, it's even better because it's built more solidly and reliably! Search YouTube for PRO2021 and I have a video up comparing the sounds with a real vintage Pro-One.

This particular unit, being a prototype has one little idiosyncracy, in that there were 2 misprints on the laser etching. One is the "Seq1/Seq2" switch originally says "Seq2/Seq2" and I have put a small black "1" sticker over it (see detail pic). The other is that the CV IN is labeled CV OUT and I have similarly put a little sticker of it (see detail pic). That's it for weirdness. It's 100% electrically good to go and sounds and looks amazing. Think of those little panel quirks as some uniqueness to make this a true treasure to only gain in value when this synth gets famous! Haha! :D

The PRO2021 has all the features of the original Pro-One, plus:
-Anodized and laser etch formed aluminum enclosure
-Hand-finished solid cherry wood end cheeks
-Custom Weston CNC machined aluminum precision pitch bender and modulation wheels (WAY better than the stock Pro-One wheels)
-Fatar semi weighted 37 key keybed (WAY better than the stock Pro-One keyboard. This is what is in the Moog Sub 37, etc...)
-MTG "TurboCPU" processor (upgrades sequencer function, enables MIDI, etc..)
-MIDI In/Out/Through
-LFO rate AND Gate LEDs
-VCOs powered by genuine Curtis CEM3340 Rev G chips
-VCF and Envelopes powered by Alfa clones of CEM chips

This machine is basically a vintage Pro-One but built like a real, professional instrument, with none of the cheesy money-saving stuff on the original (no disrespect, but if you've played a vintage Pro-One, you know what I'm talking about.)"

"This listing is for a fully working and calibrated 2019 build of the SY-1 Pearl Syncussion analog drum synthesizer clone using the Rev 2 (2018) PCB and enclosure by The Human Comparator, aka zthee...

The Pearl Syncussion is a legendary two-channel electronic drum module released during the Disco era which contains an amazing array of awesome percussion sounds within its easy-to-grasp interface. Its 6 oscillator modes, selectable by rotary knob, allow a user to emulate bells, toms, snares, claps, and more (triggerable manually or via analog trigger input) or totally space out using the onboard LFO and S&H modulation. Though original units are hard to find, they are still heavily in use to this day due to their obvious usefulness for techno, electro, etc.

In 2016, The Human Comparator released an instantly popular, near-identical clone of the original Pearl unit, thus making these legendary sounds available to the masses once again!"

New Novation Hack Series Videos with the Novation Peak

Published on Apr 9, 2019 NovationTV

"In the second round of videos in our Hack Series, -CALC- explores the more unusual side of the Peak synthesiser."

For more on Peak, check out:
http://bit.ly/PeakExperiments

1. Novation // The Hack Series - Karplus Strong
In this video, we explore how we can use the delay almost as a karplus strong synthesis method. With this technique, -CALC- uses the delay almost like oscillator - accessing and controlling it from the modulation matrix for the effects, making some really unusual sounds!
2. Novation // The Hack Series - Re-triggered Envelopes
For this particular patch, -CALC- explores the repeating envelopes. We'll show you how you can use the envelopes set to repeat and modulate various different aspects of the synth engine. We'll then further modulate those envelopes using Peak's LFO's, allowing us to create a random rhythmic patch!
3. Novation // The Hack Series - Chorus as resonator and delay
For this patch, we explore how we can use the FX modulation matrix to access different controls for the effect engines in Peak. -CALC- uses chorus as a resonator effect and creates harmonic delays by controlling the times of the chorus and the delay via the modulation matrix. Enjoy exploring this patch!
4. Novation // The Hack Series - Techno
In this video, we explore how to use oscillator three as a strange LFO control for the filter using one of the available wavetables. -CALC- also explores the effects modulation matrix and shows you how to take control of various aspects of the chorus and delay effects, resulting in one enormous sounding self-generating patch.

P.S. Novation is set for SUPERBOOTH19.

New Twisted Electrons therapKid

therapKid Walkthrough Published on Apr 9, 2019 Twisted Electrons

via Twisted Elektrons

TherapSid has a kid!
TherapKid is a powerful & affordable duo-phonic synthesizer inspired by the mighty therapSid.

Best of Both
The first generation of SID (6581) had a wonderful gritty distorted filter but the later 8580 had a much stronger filter (more resonance). TherapKid offers a digital take on the best of both worlds with a strong filter resonance and 6581-like gritty tone.

Monophnoic, Duophonic, Chords & Drones
TherapKid has 2 voices, each voice consisting of 4 oscillators.

In duophonic mode you can play 2 notes at once, in mono mode you can detune them. But you can take things further by detuning each of the oscillators individually to form chords or drones.

LO/HI-Fi
While the wavetables are 8Bit, they are processed by a powerful 96MHz 32BIT processor and put out of a 16BIT DAC with oversampling and filtering. This formula of retro sound generated by modern hardware allows for plenty of summing headroom, a rich sounding filter, and complex modulations.

Features:
Set the volume of the 8 waveforms independently*
Tune each of the 8 waveforms independently (chords, drones!)*
Sine wave for pure tones and deep sub bass*
Muti-mode arpeggiator
Ring modulator
Duophonic or monophonic modes
Hybrid 6581/8580 inspired multimode filter (Low pass, High pass, Band Pass, Notch)
Dual therapSid style LFO with up to 48 connections that can be made a a push of a button.
50 Preset memory with wild random preset generator
USB-MIDI
Sturdy powder-coated steel case
Hardware MIDI via included 3.5mm >Din5 cable
USB Powered (can be battery powered with a USB battery brick)
185mm x95mm x30mm
*can’t be done on a real SID
